TBH, Im fed up of these games getting revealed so early. They than spend 2 to 3 years hyping the hell out of it, ding interviews and all sorts of stuff. I'd rather its was like, 3 months to release its gets revealed and boom gets released.
I thinks it cus I now have to wait not months till its out but YEARSSS!!!!:(
I do agree. Although i do understand to beta test it, or to get feedback for it to improve it during development. But i am honestly sick of waiting for years.
At least with EQN we get EQN landmark within a few month.. and hopefully EQN a few month( and not a year) later. But i wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait until late 2014 for EQN.
Something different, but exactly as painfully, are kickstarter.. there you have to wait even longer, but with crowdfunding there is not really a way around.
But yeap. Reveal, and instantly start of Beta, and release within 3-6 month would be my favorite. Wishful dreaming. ;(
Their money, their game, their rules. They can chose to reveal what they know for sure now, with non-committal responses on anything still not set in stone, or keep it a total secret like Blizzard has been doing with their Titan project.
Seems to me they are trying to build a pretty strong hype train around this title, and perhaps may even be intentionally withholding some of this information to build and maintain excitement levels in the months (years?) ahead.
As mentioned, they don't owe anyone anything at this point, heck, they are going to let people play it for free when it finally goes live, and they didn't ask anyone for donations to help build the game.
Be thankful they revealed what they did, knowing what races or classes will be in the game is relatively small stuff as opposed to learning what the PVP model will be implemented and how much it will influence the game's development. (tacked on feature as in the past, (EQ1 & 2) or a core system that this "sandbox" is built around. (a la EVE)

As soon as they tell me they aren't prepared to tell me I stop listening... get back to me when you are prepared to tell me everything. I'm not interested in piecemeal.
Since SOE made the choice to display EQN when they did they, should have been ready.
I am sure their investors would expect much more at a presentation to them.
Maybe if the "MMO-media" weren't so quick to jump hype-trains, developers wouldn't pull this kind of stunt. But hey what have they got to loose? Already got "best of show at E3".
I"m sitting here watching the video's of all the Q&A.. and 90% of their responses are "not ready to talk about it" or blah blah blah.. or that part is still in development........
OMG.. really!.. Why even have Q&A sessions if most of the basic questions like "starting" cities can't be discussed... When did they invent this game.. Last week?
They just publicly announce a upcoming project. Did you expect it to be finished and released tomorrow?

Yes very tired of the "not ready to talk about it" myself...
All I am waiting for is more information about EQN gameplay possibilities. My choice for a next MMO stand now betweeen ArchAge and EQN. I have bo issues with the graophic style.
All I want is a Sandbox game where players can establish their own Destinies in the Virtual World in relatve Freedom without the constraints of a Themepark. Where players can make their own in game, small or big, communities have a corner of the world to themselves to call home, develop it, protect it and interact with other such communities and players in that virtual world.
I am tired to run from game to game, funding an industry that is unwilling or incapable of offering what many seek. And if the answer to our wants has to come across the ocean, then so be it.
I ant a game that I can play for years and not get bored of the AI routine gameplay in 1-3 months and hope to the next big Hype...
All I hope is that SOE release more on their intended Goals and Gameplay fro EQN so it can help make a Decision.
The announced systems sound cool and nifty, but they do express a PVE centric Game nevertheless thus far.
And a PVE game with Battlegrounds on the side for PvP or whatever PvP lands in some separate instance for Points badges and Gear is not what I seek to play ... again...
So ya I wish they would at least give some Overall high level description of what is intended and what they plan with the game instead of waiting to be able to show the details...they can show these details once these are ready..but at least explain what the game will be about Overal, give some Complete Picture of their intentions and direction Goal...
At this point it is not overly clear, would they rather we make our own assumptions and then get disappointed when it turns out to be something different?

I think they are not ready to talk about it because they want to gauge players reactions and then build from that basing on what people give as feedback. So probably they are not certain at all how they are going to handle the 'not ready to talk about it' stuff.
Originally posted by DeserttFoxx I am going to go one step further and say, EQnext should not have been revealed AT ALL this year. Its nowhere near ready, everything they spoke about is concept. They had nothing to show that was meaningful.
Be careful, people (and Picard) might doubt your "maturity" on a game forum due to understanding how the ridiculous these interviews were BECAUSE they were based on concepts and therefore CANNOT be taken as proof of anything...
I completely understand why they want publicity for their new game but I disagree with these types of PR tactics.
Honestly, i'm waiting and looking forward to the MMOs and Consoles which Are going to be released this year, but when every forum or game site and, in a generalized since, every word of mouth hype, I see depicts EQN as God's 2nd son, Jarome (Brother of Jesus)! Its understandable I and other might take notice and will expect more than "not ready to talk" when its being hyped this much for apparently nothing.

Ok.. come on. You do behaive like it would be any different for any other MMO out the the last 15 years. It is always the same, and for a lot of games you will get hyped even earlier.. for YEARS.
As i said, i don't like to wait for years myself.. but to do it would not be common practice in this business is either completely dishonest, naive or stupid.
And they do release EQN Landmark this year.. so it is even against common practice where you here years before something before you can actually try it out.. we will get EQN Landmark in less than 5 month. And usually at the first reveal of a game we usually get a lot less of information... and you can almost take any other game as example for that.

Oh.. I think so too.. I think much of the game is still on the chalkboard.. I'm just wondering tho.. If you were the fans that PAID cash to get tickets to this and "we are not ready" is all you got.. Will they get refunds? LOL

So.. calm down.
No sir, I behave like someone who isn't easily led around and will not accept, "its what everyone else does" as an acceptable answer. To prove you wrong, the game I have personally been following, FFXIV ARR, which has had a rough start but is now building momentum, has been very thorough and transparent on its development and release of information.
Final Fantasy 14 has constantly given out live letters and letters from the producer which keep all interested parties UP TO DATE on any relevant AND necessary information. In comparison to the treatment I have been receiving from my respectively sought after game to the "other MMOs in the last 15years" whatever those may be is drastically different., not to mention, you assume I'm stupid enough to get hyped without proof of claims, which is ironic because the entire point of this and my last posts.
Maybe I have been spoiled by the treatment and respect the new FF14 team has had for its customers and I expect such transparency and good practices from the rest of the companies competing for my business.
When you say "calm down" I laugh because it doesn't mean to relax but to ignore. Ignore the obvious problem, which is the early release of, and hyping of, NON-information. I do not accept these practices from the creators of EQ nor will I accept it from any of the "other MMOs" from those 15 years you speak of. I didn't accept it then, and won't accept it now.
You may, and most likely do, disagree. This is more than fine, simply because I could care less as I am sure you yourself careless about what I think. however, to continue to "calm down" and allow developers to take this type of presentations as acceptable will only hurt US, the consumer of said information and presentations.
I'm sure when Mr SOE shareholder ask questions, they get answers.. Well, It's my dollar as well, and I think I deserve a little more respect then a "when we're ready" or as most parents talk to kids, "cuz I said so".. I was never much of a chase the carrot type, and this past weekend felt exactly like that..
TBH if a feature isnt set in stone then the best answer is "We're not ready to talk about it" as someone said earlier you dont wanna pull a Peter Molyneux. If pvp isnt set in stone then dont tell people how PVP will be because it could change 2 hours later. They dont us the BASE game mechanics which if they wanted to change would require them to restart.

just enjoy the flow of information as it comes.
