I did have a bunch of stuff I wrote but I changed it because I remembered why I was writing this anyways. Ok story time my daughter is 12 years old and taller then most kids her age 5' 9" so she's a giant but she can to me one day and asked why I waste so much time reading this site and many more alot and I told her to keep up with the mmos scene she ask the old question parents hate to hear why. I told her so I can see what new stuff is coming down the line what people have to say and such. She looks over and sees what I am reading and says these people don't know why the need to remove the trinity are they like you just old ways type of thing. laughed and said not all are old some are teens to adult in there 60's even she keeps reading over my shoulder not saying anything then all the sudden she say dad these people are worse then me throwing a fit cause I don't want to do my choirs. At first I didn't know whether to laugh or get mad so I sat dumb founded by a 12 yr old on what to say so I said everyone has there own likes and dislike whether we all agree or not no one is perfect not even me she looks at me and say in my eyes dad you are.
See we all see things differently we all might like Star Wars 1,2,3 but not 4,5,6 because they changed from what they are my kids like all 6 to where I like 1,2,3 and 6 . My kids like Spongebob and I like some of the episodes but not all. My kids like Teken Tag tournament while I like Street Fighter. Point is we all have our opinions on what we like in mmo's and in todays internet age theres more mmo players so yeah companies need to make games more diverse and different then before not because of Casual or F2P players or P2P players but because you can't make one game thats perfect you can only make a game the fits the needs of either a few or for many but not one type thats why companies make the games like they do they make them to fit the needs of all players that play them.
Now your going to say but its the companies making the changes yeah it is but why how many play EQ1 today as in the past 600k at most there playing not because new games are not good its cause they like that set up of class, skill, world and what not what about WoW they have X number of players how come there so large have you seen what this runs on shit my PS2 could run it with keyboard and mouse support. But its the fact WoW was made to run on systems 2 years old when it came out my friend still plays WoW on a single core 3.2 ghr with a gig of ram and a 256meg card running windows xp and still plays it today on the same machine that he started on. I have friends who would not try SWTOR because they would have to get a new pc to do it when they could just play EQ1.
I have friends who play Runes of Magic still to this day and say why leave they like it so why find something else. So how do you explain this why do some still play these older games when new games come out but these new games claim as some say to have 2 million + players the mmo market has grown because the internet is everywhere now and people can get a pc at wal-mart that can play most mmo's and fine so theres the reason why mmo's have changed not because of f2P or Casual or hard core the player base is way above WoW's numbers most likely 10 times higher. I know in my town the collage did a study to see how many people play online games and out of the 35k people 25k did out of that 25k 10k played mmo's the rest played console online and some pc games online. So 10k out of 6 billion now times that 10k by evey place that has internet access and you can guess its more then 300 million so now we have how many out of that playing mmo's?
I have one friend that plays in a cafe in asia Korea to be exact and she says that the one she most ly goes into has over 100 pc's most of the time people are on a mmo she tells me from Ragnorok to Tera to even Wow but the point is thats alot of gamers there now think in the US there no internet cafes people own them and there is one in every 5 houses across this country point is thats alot of pc gamer's to what was in the late 90's back then it was more like 300 to 1. So yeah times are changing for us old school types does not mean we can't accept this change if we can't theres thousands of mmo's out now we can go play. The list here does not even have half of whats out there listed and thats alot og games running most F2P with huge player bases some yes bigger then WoW. That why communities have changed in all games from being nice friendly and helpful to disrespectful and even from group centric to not group centric or solo play if you will it was not F2P or P2P or Casual that changed this it was the amount of people that have the internet heck my wifes 73 year old grandmother plays mmo's she played Wow at one time now I think she plays some online farm game but shes still playing mmo's.
So you can hate all you want about change please do but you can't change the fact times have changed from when we old schoolers started playing and also that we can't control the future with the ever growing internet.
