Was this misleading?

The transportation article posting on FFXIV seems highly misleading to me. The transportation via Airship and Boat are essentially having a quick cutscene with airships, and a loading screen with the boats. It's pretty much the same as loading from zone to zone which accounts for going outside of all major cities. Why make an article about transportation systems if they are just loading screens with a different entry point? I don't see what's so special about it that they felt it was even worth putting on their homepage other than to mislead people who have played FFXI or other mmo's such as EQ where you actually board transportation and you know... Be transported, as opposed to being loaded.

I'm not sure what you expected.  I mean the game is zoned.  Why would they have you fly through the game world when it's not even seemless on the ground?

FFXI's land base was entirely zoned as well. Although the zones were much larger than those of ARR. Yet it still allowed you to ride and fish off of the boats, and ride airships.

I just see the article SE posted on transportation's to be a complete sham. They make it look like they have a neat system in place, when it's really about as neat as running up to the glowing blue markers to enter a new zone. Only instead of blue markers, it's a little boat, or a glowing white marker in front of the texture of an airship.

FFXIV:ARR seems more like a game and not a Virtual World. Teleports Galore, i.e. After Levee Quests you can be teleported back to turn it in.

Less of a Virtual World, more like a Game.

Well it is a game.  I don't use the teleports much.  Only time is in cities where I would have a loading screen anyway.  Teleporting costs gil and I like my gil.

I personally think its very well put together...especially in comparison to how it was originally released. It feel like a final fantasy game to me 100% its awesome!

Add flying mounts.
