Early access emails

Shoko_LiedShoko_Lied Member UncommonPosts: 2,193

Does anyone know when SE will send early access emails, or "more" emails if they've already sent some? I pre-purchased the game a day before phase 4 started, and at the time the website was still advertising the product as coming with early access. I still haven't received a code, so I'm wondering if they'll still send me an email with the one.

Also, I played for 1 month during 1.0. I know I'm not technically legacy, but does this grant me automatic access to early access without needing a code?

They started sending Mails yesterday tho. Seen Mail Screenshots at the Forums already. So....watch your Spam Folder closely as well to make sure you don't miss it :)

If you aren't legacy you won't get early access unless you buy a seperate early access key.

    From the FFXiV website:

"Customers that pre-order FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (either the Collector's Edition or Standard Edition) will receive special bonuses!

Early Access to FFXIV: A Realm Reborn If you pre-order FFXIV: A Realm Reborn from a participating retailer and register the pre-order code within the specificied time period, you will be granted access to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn prior to the official launch!

    * Details will be announced at a later date with early access commencing prior to launch."

I presume SE are a participating retailer...

If you bought digital version of the game from Square Enix, you won't need any codes, the game is automatically applied to your account.

If you bought the game from some other source, then delivering the early access code to you is their responsibility, not really Square Enix's.

SE said they'd email details of Early Access closer to the time of Early Access, to those who meet the requirements of it. I assumed that meant an email would turn up this week, but so far nothing from them.

I know they've been sending out codes, but does that contain the "more details" they were referring to (which I assume are date/time/etc)?

Not certain this is true.  I purchased the digital version from SE and even played this past weekend in Beta 4, but have no game registered under my account.

At the time I purchased the game I received an 'Order Complete' email which contained the dreaded 18-digit code (alternating letters and numbers such as AAAAAA-111-AAAAAA-111) and a link to http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com, saying I should visit that site to register the game.  I have been trying to do that constantly all day yesterday and even got up early this morning figuring that during the North American times of 2:30am Pacific to 5:30am Eastern the traffic on the SE registering site would be light.

But I still get the dreaded "Error 3: There was a problem. Please try again later" error message and note this morning that a new warning has gone up on that site, "We sincerely apologize, but the pre-order redemption site is experiencing very high traffic which we are currently working to resolve. We are adding additional bandwidth and server capacity to ensure that all customers will be able to redeem their pre-order codes as soon as possible. Early Access starts on August 24th and Square Enix is working hard to ensure that all pre-order customers will be able to download and play the game."

In a very long thread yesterday there were a number of people who seemed to successfully register their games, but even more who remained stuck at the Error 3 message and a good number who eventually got past it to the next step, which is SE sending you a an email with a new 20-digit code which is supposed to actually do the job of registering the game.  However, a good number of folks who received the 20-digit follow-up code were unable to apply it, finding that they were persistently sent to the wrong regional site where that code cannot be applied.

Finally, different conditions seem to apply to European customers and North American customers, and those who had digital downloads and game boxes and those who got their digital downloads from places like Amazon and those who got them directly from SE (for the record, I'm NA digital SE).  But I'll be darned if I can figure out what those different conditions actually are.

This whole situation is a mess, to say the least.  Guess I'll just keep enjoying my steady stream of Error 3 codes until SE choses to clarify the situation and actually do something about it.

EDIT:  I just went to My Profile on the SE North American site and find that now the game has been mysteriously registered with a registration date of 21 Aug 2013.  So maybe the post I quoted above is correct and those who did digital downloads directly from SE do (eventually) get their games automatically registered (as I never succeeded in getting past the Error 3 warning).  But as of 5:00am Eastern time today that was not the case.  Very mysterious.

I didn't get any code with my purchase from Square Enix store, just e-mail telling me the pre-order benefits and instructions to wait for next e-mail closer to early access start time.

There's now a Final Fantasy XIV -game registered on my Square Enix account, so I assumed their store did that automatically. But I don't really have a way to tell for certain if it's the full game account or just the beta account I had.

EDIT: Investigating a bit futher, it should be the full game because it's added later than what I started playing the beta. However, it looks like my full Square Enix profile was created later than what I started playing the beta, so there's something mysterious about the way how Square Enix works.

I am officially confused. I also pre ordered the digital version as did my wife from the SE official store. I was told a code would be emailed on the 20th to apply to your account for early access.

I never received that email nor did my wife. I have read this thread and saw that several people had the game mysteriously registered under their account. I am checking mine now and it shows FFXIV as a registered game under my account now when previously it did not.

Does that mean we no longer need to enter the preorder bonus codes as well? And that we are now already set up for early access?

Edit: I tried putting in the pre order bonus code that I got in my initial email after pre ordering the game and while it showed check marks next to everything once I tried to apply it I got the Error 3 message everyone is talking about.

I pre-ordered the game yesterday morning from the SE store. My confirmation email did not have any bonus code but did say there would be a follow-up email with pre-order access code and download information. The game shows in my account as registered.

I suspect that we will not have to enter any code for early access if the game already appears in your account info, but it would still be nice to get a download link so I could start downloading it before the mad rush.

I just got my early acces code this morning.  Applied it and everything seems ok.

I pre-ordered the collector's edition digital version from Square Enix store 3 weeks ago or so.

So just hang on the emails will come eventually to everyone.

I can confirm that if you pre ordered the CE or normal digital version from the EU SE website you should have gotten your early access code today. So don't think that just because the game is already on your acccount that you don't need the early access code, because otherwise they wouldn't have mailed me one :)

OK, once more into the breach. I understand from a friend who has the same order status as me (NA digital purchase from SE, participated in Beta 4) that our games get automatically registered, as did mine mysteriously this morning, and we are in for early access play. That said, we will still eventually get an email with a 20-digit code. This is for our pre-order goodies only. He got his email just a bit ago, though I'm still waiting.

    Clear as mud?

I had pre-ordered the PS3 version from S/E's site back in June.

Late last night I just got an email saying I have been charged for my order, and it has shipped. (yay)

I have not received a pre-order code yet, and it is definitely not applied to my account yet. (boo)

S/E has said to wait until the 22nd before freaking out. Early Access isn't until the 24th anyway.

But I'm still a bit worried about it.

This is a big effin mess guys.

It seems that if you pre-ordered through square-enix and then later decided to cancel your pre-order "like I did" and bought form like say greenmangaming or another retailer then the preorder code that you got from the second order apparently will not work as the first pre-order code through square-enix seems to attach itself to your account and another pre-order code will not be accepted.

On the positive side, you can use the pre-order code that square-enix gave you, though considering I bought the standard edition from square-enix and decided to get the collector's edition from greenmangaming later I hope using the square-enix pre-order code doesn't effect me entering the collector's edition code, though I don't think it will it is still worrisome. It probably won't matter as the registration of the pre-order simply states "pre-order code with mog cap and doll" and doesn't say anything about game registration.

I went ahead and used the first pre-order code that I cancelled though and hope it doesn't effect me, otherwise it will be a big mess for square-enix to clean up cause I won't be happy nor should I be held responsible for their inefficiency to cancel the pre-order code along with the actual order so I could enter a new one.

    What a big mess.

  • BraindomeBraindome Member UncommonPosts: 959

Oh wow, here some more info lol.

After entering the code on the north american site now I can enter the greenmangaming code on the european site that the email contains. Lol, so now I have 2 preorders on my account. FFXIV 1 and FFXIV 2.....god lord should I just hit cancel service on the first one, lmao this is a cluster fuuuuuuu.

Also I never received confirmation from the first code but did receive confirmation from the greenmangaming code, so yeah, f me man i'm lost, just gonna keep both I guess, unless someone has advice.

Well, apparently I never got an email with early access but I did get my code lol. I put my preorder code about 2 days ago giving me an error message I clicked confirmed like 5 times checked my profile to find the game registered. I waited an extra day to receive my email for my early access code but never showed...then I heard from someone here that if you put in your pre order code again in the site it'll give you the access code either through email or alternative site. I chose the alternative and there it was.

Just to clear some things up with the info from the 400 page thread on beta forums:

    - SE Store account has nothing to do with SE Account management and Social sites, the two accounts are completely separate

    - If you bought from the SE NA store you should have gotten your 18 digit code in the email the same day

    - If you bought the game from SE Store you will most likely NOT get an email directing you to register your code now, just do it following the proper region site

    - Having FF XIV: ARR show up on your SE Social Account does not necessarily mean you have access to EA, but if you were able to enter both the 18 and 20 digit codes successfully you SHOULD be good to go

    - FF XIV: ARR will not show up in your SE Account management page at this time unless you are a legacy player and/or registered through PSN (Not 100% about PSN)

    - If you are still getting Error 3  or Incorrect Region for 18 digit registration then follow the instructions to reset your profile region and browser history

    - Your CE items / game will not show up anywhere unless you are a legacy player at this time

At least those bits of information are inaccurate.

    1) My FF XIV account (or Square Enix account) works on FF XIV's mainpage and Square Enix's European store. I don't know if it's different for US players, but at least for me those accounts are not separate.

    2) I have FF XIV:ARR showing up on my SE account managent page, and I'm not a legacy player nor registered through PSN. Also I've not entered any early access codes or any other codes. The FF XIV showing on my account is either my beta registration, or added automatically when I made purchase from their store.

It looks like this information was inaccurate.

I bought the game on Sunday from Square Enix's European store, and FF XIV was automatically added to my account on Sunday. But now I recieved an e-mail from them giving me the early access code and telling I still need to apply it to my account.

This makes no sense at all, since it already shows on my account, and it shouldn't be possible that it's just my beta access because the "date added" shows it's added on my purchase date, which is later than what I started playing on beta. But, something called "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" got automatically added to my account when bought the game, and that something apparently did not give me early access, and I'll be damned if I know what that something is.

From the GMG site. I noticed I couldn't start downloading my collector's edition until the 27th, this explains why.

Here's my question, i just bought and registered the game to my account and registered my pre-order code. All went fine and well.

However, when it was listing the in-game bonuses that i was to recieve, it was listing off the Moogle Cap and Cait Sith Doll even though i purchased the 50 dollar CE digital download which should have given me the coeurl mount, behemoth pet and etc.

Is that just an error visually and i will still receive the CE benefits or am i not going to actually get those because i bought CE digital version and those bonuses were only for physical CE copies?

The code you entered was only for early access and the pre-order bonuses, to actually get all the collector's edition benefits you need to enter and actual retail key. Since you pre-ordered your digital game from a supported digital distributor you should receive a retail key by the distributor close to or on 27th of August 2013.

Thank you very much for the clarification. I'd ask where am i to actually input this code but im sure the email i receive will detail that. Seems an odd system that have set up though, a bit convoluted to be honest. I entered product key when i bought the game, which then gave me another code to put in to register for early access and pre-order bonuses, now i wait for a 3rd code to get CE benefits.

Guess i can't complain if it all works smoothly even if it is a bit overly complicated.
