Ok so heres the situation, im tight on money right and cant afford a new desktop pc, and I dont have any of the newer consoles Ps3 etc. But I did purchase a new laptop earlier this year. I wanna know if this laptop will run the game, I dont care how good it looks as long as it will play the game decently even on low if need be without stuttering alot. I dont want to waste the money on the game if it wont run. Here are my specs:
Intel Core I5-3230M @ 2.60 Ghz (+turbo boost)- 8 Gigs of DDR3- Intel HD 4000 graphics
Now I know the graphics department is seriously lacking but I downloaded the final fantasy benchmark and ran it, with the benchmark im getting a score of 2802 and performance: fairly high on 1280x720 Medium, from what ive read around online as long as your score is at least 2000 the game should run but I wanted to get others opinions as it says on squares website just because the benchmark runs doesent mean the game will. Any thoughts on this? thanks!

No
If you can get it running it will run horribly.
I wouldn't play this game without at least a GTX 460.
Your integrated graphics isn't meant for high end games, let alone a high end mmorpg where you will continually have tons of people on your screen.
Are you sure? ive just started looking up other high intensive game online that are using the intel hd 4000, here is someone running Crysis 3 on an intel hd 4000 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp5AYAcYiws
And im pretty sure Crysis 3 is a more demanding game.

Yea, it looks like hes running on VERY LOW settings and its still choppy. Now take that, and add up to 20-30 more people on the screen and the game will becoming unplayable.
I gave the details of that in my post if you read it
"with the benchmark im getting a score of 2802 and performance: fairly high on 1280x720 Medium"
I wouldn't trust the benchmark too much, expect like 60-70% performance of what it shows in the benchmark. Your laptop may be able to turn it on but you will be running it very choppily and if you can accept that then go ahead and get it. But there's no way you'll be running it at what most people view as acceptable.
Hate hate when people do this...use an example of their really bad intergrated graphics basely squeaking by on a single player game on lowest possible settings...then try to apply it to a mmorpg which is a much more resource intensive game type given all the unique player character ect.
But if your friend knows best and can play crisis 3 no problems on a card that's worse than a 6 generation old budget gaming card...and you think you can swing it on ffxiv then by all means go for it...though if you do try I expect a heated "wtf this game runs like crap the devs suck" post in the near future.
Sorry I see this on steam a lot...and it usually ends with poster saying "no you guys are wrong I can run it" followed in a few days by "ive never seen a game run so poorly who coded this apes?"
EDIT:
here is your "card" http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Intel+HD+4000
here is a 6 generations old budget gaming card: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+260&id=17
here is what they recommend: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+660&id=2152
Mind you when they say minimum requirements, they mean the game will run, usually quite poorly, so go off recommended as a good baseline. Yes they recommended the most modern budget gaming card...you can probably run the game decent on anything better or equal to a gtx 460
Sorry I just got to the point of your systems specs, my bad on that.
IF you'd like I could DL it and see what it says for mine, I got silky smooth performance @1400x900 med-high during phase three and four of testing. I could at least see what load it says I can handle.

What video card are you using Distopia? if your using what I am sure and PM me back or reply back here. Also consider this, I bought this laptop from a company that sells linux only laptops, this laptop doesent have uefi or any of the other boot restrictions,it works with any linux distro and windows straights out of the box including hotkeys, Im not keen on microsoft at all and love linux but unfortunately microsoft pretty much has the monopoly on gaming so I opted to install windows to do some gaming. I could have gotten a laptop with a better video card from a namebrand company with uefi in the bios etc and the whole deal I didnt want that so I sacrificed plus I was supporting a smaller company and this was among the best of there specs of laptops they had for the price, I checked around. Microsoft is making Direct X 11.1 Windows 8 only and im sure all future Direct X updates will be exclusive to Windows 8 forcing people to upgrade. Sorry I got sidetracked with the discussions.
