Well I'm going to ignore everything that was just written out of the fact that I wouldnt be able to handle the ONLY promising game in the near future, never mind the ONLY quality looking sandbox P2P, not being released... and continue to say I can't wait til Archeage comes out! Because if it didn't I'd be majorly disappointed. I've been churning through pointless mmo after pointless, crap mmo since i heard about this back in late 2011, looking forward to this title as the only light in the darkness of the MMO industry as it is today. I probably wouldn't touch another mmo for a long time.
Never fear, your dream MMO will be here.... just give me a decade or two to finely hone my Game development and design abilities as well as start a Game Design Studio. Thank you for your patience.
I think DRCokePepsi may have had too much coke before posting.
"There are times that news happens faster than us - there are also times (like this past week) where news should go first (it's largely a business thing.) But we're here to talk about the closings and reorganizational pieces as much as possible. I'm not going to be able to give you the exact details, but I want to let you guys know that this is part of a plan, helmed by Scott, and one I believe in. That doesn't mean it's always easy, or fun, but it will result in something better and greater than ever before. Scott told me that and I believe in him completely, so I'm telling you, and I hope because you know him, you believe it too."
This is the new community manager? May the pantheon gods of MMO's help us.
Hmm, I wonder if the blood in AA is also a washed out pastel color? Proof is in the pastel pudding and it seems that their shareholders are not enjoying it as much as all the hype made it out to be. I actually went onto their site and asked about the Asian looking characters and washed out color palettes and man they were vicious.
I do not understand why people think someone like Trion was ever going to make a better game when they have not, to date, made anything worth while? As I said, proof is in the pudding and this one isn't tasting so great it seems.

Imho trion has the base of a successful game studio in that they listen to their customers. Anyone who has or does play rift knows this. They also know how to design a game. I think they took a bit too big of a bite when they tried to develop rift, eon and defiance all at once.
I wouldn't be surprised if trion learned from their mistakes and came back strong. Hell, it worked for SqE
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Problem is - they listen TOO much to their customers. They actually ruined Rift when they put in a second 3 faction PvP or the patches where people were whining about how OP some professions were rather than learning to counter them. That is a huge problem with Trion.
I think this is their last hurrah. If they don't turn the Rift ship around, Trion is dead in the water.
From fellow Rifters I have talked to, Trion should be making a lot of money with FTP. There are people in my guild that I would pass out if I found out my wife had spent that much in the cash shop. So I would think they would be doing well.
Archeage has been teased forever. Games with big budgets and long dev cycles are like black holes sucking all light and cash into it's vortex.
I really don't know enough about Trion to venture an educated guess or even speculate responsibly, but if AA doesn't release I'll be very sad.

Listening too much to the players has been a bane of the MMO genre since day one. Making knee jerk changes to classes on the basis of complaints from posters is the most problematic issue this causes.
But these issues are well known, it is beyond believe Trion has not heard of them. So you have to ask yourself, how could they have got themselves into this?
I was really excited about this games potential 2yrs. ago. Another marketing suicide. Lets see if Trion can go another 2 years without saying anything. (I bet they can....dirt nap anyone???) Grats for nothing! Guess I need to place my hopes elsewhere.
yep, AA was on my list of "Most Wanted" games, but seem the longer it takes to get it out here, the less I feel the desire to play it. I am however looking forward to "The Repopulation" and "Divergence " as my new sandbox titles to watch for. Trion is shooting themselves in the foot by taking so long, and being so quiet about AA. By the time they release it...if ever...people will have moved on to better games.

It won't make your profits soar by 8 million percent, but it will draw players to a game they would otherwise write off as "I can't be bothered paying for this". Once you get into a game, "I can't be bothered" becomes, "Oh that would be cool" and revenue that never existed before suddenly exists. It's not always well executed (Rift is, despite the gripes about the AH, I'll take spending $5 to unlock the AH over having it swarmed with bots anyday, especally considering the $5 can be spent on ANYTHING, not a specific AH unlock) or successful, but it's a whole hell of a lot better than games going the CoH route, where the studio shutters them because it was "barely profitable".
First of Rift was an awesome theme park MMORPG its demise is due to the death of theme park MMORPGS's not it being a bad game. Trion i feel is dropping the ball by not ramping up the fandom already for AA. They have stiff competetion from the likes of Wildstar(Looks good), Black Desert(Looks awesome) and EQN(Looks really good but its SOE they will manage to fook it up) ESO is also coming out but that game is one to skip since they announced a next gen console release you can bet they are more concerned about making money then making a good game. Pushing the release date to spring is the dumbest thing any MMORPG developer can do is release in spring the last thing i want to do when its spring is sit in my house and play a game after 6 months of cold weather...Lets hope they get a clue quickly becasue any of the above games i listed would be worth playing for at least three months until AA is released.
