Excited about the opportunity to return to another title he was involved with, he accepted the role as EQ Senior Gamer Designer in February 2013.
Brad left SOE in August 2013 as part of a huge RIF. With so many jobless developers in the area and so many exciting game design ideas in his head, Brad intends to start something.
He’s run the ideas by John Smedley, who was visibly excited. More info will be made available on this site and elsewhere when the timing is appropriate.

Because without Smedley we probably wouldn't have PlanetSide 2 and EQNext would have been EQ2 with better graphics.
He probably saw how easy it was to cash in over the backs of players via Kickstarter by Mark Jacobs and Richard Garriott and thought: "If they can pull that off, so can I".
So another Kickstarter coming in soonTM.
Nope. Just a gamer who doesn't view the gaming world through glasses filled with irrational hatred towards big publishers (well maybe except for EA).
That would of been a bad thing?
Depends on preference, of course, but IMO we have quite enough of EQ/WoW clones already. A big-budget sandbox is something we haven't had for a long, long time.
So yes, in my opinion that would have been a bad thing.
They can just deploy a gfx engine update to EQ2 if that's the intention.
EQN should be different.
Wait EQNext has better graphics than EQ2?
If you mean by "better" having more detail, better animations and utilizing the latest GFX API, then yes.
But if you are arguing about "realistic" (lol @ EQ2's "realistic" graphics) vs. "cartoony" graphics then you should leave "better" out of that argument.
