i was just looking around and found a video of this old ass game 

 

and then I checked and it still has a website running ?  is somewon still paying to have that website haha

 

does that mean they eventually want to re make the game ??

just curious was this the game that you could Ride your shield threw the snow as a part of traveling ? 

had some really amazing features for the time it was made ...super Old game

snow actually accumulated on the ground and got deeper and deeper I think  ..has any game since this ever tried to have snow that piled up on the ground like Real life haha  and Skiing Mechanics

would love to see this game Re Made with same idea's but newer Engine

Wasn't this the game that had a Pay Beta ( One of the first) that was suppose to be in a zone completely different then the normal world? I think they called them Pioneers or something. Turns out it was all a scam and all they had was that single zone done and it went belly up and they ran with the money they made from the early adopters.

I remember watching a video of the snow falling and Getting piled up on the mountains then a Dwarf took out his shield and rode it like a Sled down the mountain...

was really amazing Over 10 years ago to see such technology hahah

 

still has some cool features I would love to see in a new game

Here you go. Go back to about May 2006 when it released and read forward. Lots of fun reading in that forum. Pay particular attention to the loving interaction between Ztyx and Zorvan. Although i do believe Zorvan deleted that account but his posts are still there.

played D&L thru beta and for the time it was released was a fun game with some very cool features . it was to bad that they couldnt continue development and had to shut down , after some fighting about the engine...

 

  Last news i heard was maybe 6 or 7 months ago a chinese dev bought it and was planning on  doing some work on it and rereleasing it ..

Got into early beta on this and was a founder on their forums. Played the most buggy game I ever played. They had some great ideas but the whole game was just a big buggy mess. Supposedly the game world supported thousands of players that could battle PVP against each other in the same area, but that never was tested to actually work. I remember the stupid clip bug where you ran past buildings or terrain parts and your torso and head would disappear. The funnest thing about this game was the sky diving haha.

The failed thing that comes to mind the most was before release we kept telling our devs that the game world had little to no content for a release. Yet they still released, knowingly though they took peoples money, however; they never got my money. I still get birthday announcements for my forum account on DNL, not logged in since like 2007.

You could literally run for 5 hours on foot and not see any content, that was how bad it was.

Oh god, it's best not to hold out any hopes. I tested the beta as well and it was buggy beyond anyone's imagination.  lol.

Ahh, Dark and Light.  Possibly one of the greatest MMORPG train wrecks ever!  The excitement! The wonder!  The vitriol from gamers who bought it and then realized it didn't really work very well and that the developers weren't exactly genius material!

The drama on the forums was of some of the very best quality.  Never played the game but the absolute meltdown was something to behold.
