I am glad that they are going to drop the hammer down on players in and out of the game. I applaud this.

Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
Honestly that statement just comes off like like one from EA, 99.5% of the people love our game! Doesn't matter what game, players love it!
When in reality it's more like 60% who even like it. Let alone love it.
I think between the combat style and Parkour, they lost a tad bit more than 0.5% of interest.
It's all marketing at this point .. convince people that that vast majority simply love everything being done ..everyone loves GW2 combat (right?) .. nobody likes the trinity, people hate progression, everyone loves YouTube Parkour .. everyone loves console games ported to the PC ... the best MMORPG ever was a console port ... !! simple, simple love, just love it!! (thats what you are spammed to death to believe).
I would love to see EQ3 released instead of a GW2 clone
(and yes EQ3 could easily be released with all the nifty destruction / StoryBricks / Procedural underworld maps)

I think you misread it. The article doesn't say that 99.5% of people love the game. It merely says that 99.5% are there to play the game, while a 0.5% are there to make the life miserable for that 99.5%.
SOE has nothing to say, when it comes to talking the shaet about anything or anyone.
I seem to recall several times in the past when they made fun of and criticized their own paying customers.
You can say all the bad things about SOE that you want, so long as they are true (and there are plenty of things to pick from).
No need to make anything up.
If SOE had said they were going to mercilessly go after hacks and cheaters then that'd be something to cheer, especially given the state of PlanetSide 2.
"Refusing to let customers abuse their employees" comes off as being insecure and narcissistic. Don't say bad things about me or my decisions as a developer or else! Of course we fully expect them to provide their employees with a safe work environment and to defend them against unwarranted personal attacks... but hunting down the owners of twitter accounts? Maybe I'm reading more into this than there really is?
There's already some posters in this thread who are about to be perma-banned from all SOE games if MMORPG rats your IPs out! (Now may be a good time to disable 3rd party images or start using TOR so the SOE thought police don't snoop your IP as you dish out criticism.)
Going on the offensive like this seems like an extremely negative way to start community relations, and telling people they can't do something is like, well... like Beyonce demanding that unflattering images of her be removed from the Internet...

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
It was still relevant, just for different reasons.
Instead of losing out on a sub they lose out on micro-transactions and alienate the exiled person's game acquaintances which could make them leave the game as well.
I get that the article covered this and SOE is ready to stick to their guns despite any potential loss, but these things do matter.
Hot Tub Time Machine would've been a lot less entertaining without their "asshole".
Part in red, you cant compare in game community to a movie. Being toxic and darn right screwing people over is basicly bullying ur abusing somone putting them dow nand so on to make urself feel big, its not welcome in RL so why should it be welcomed in Games.
I don't support toxic trolls, But I have to say this person is in my opinion a complete IDIOT.
Remember what happened with George Hotz when he jail break his PS3, the reward to sony was a compromise of over a million subscriber accounts which all its data was actually posted on an underground torrent site including things like Email addresses, and passwords, this happened because sony put its consumers last.
I used to be a hard-core sony fan myself my computer was made from all Sony Opticial Drives, Monitors, and games I enjoyed, but I have to say that every since EverQuest, and Champions of Norath Sony has become a massive failure in the gaming industry will "Ever Quest Next" be a failure, I don't know time will tell but I can tell you from my personal experience with Sony as a customer putting a PS3 Jail Break over my account information which was leaked, and customer service with Ever Quest 2, and PlanetSide 2, both these games are a failure of course its opinion, but my reason for saying such is simply because they claim my PC can't play everquest 2 even on minimum graphics, but I manage to max every 2013 MMO out in max graphics they could not even provide any service to fix the massive low FPS. Planetside 1 worked perfectly on my pc why planetside 2 didn't even on minimum graphics is beyond me.
Now to forum trolling, OF Course if a person comes to Sony's forums or anyone forums for that matter and Curses, Breaks rules, Intentionally trolls like EVER QUEST SUCKS without giving a reason on sony's forums complete trolling for sure then yes actions should be taken.
However Sony Taking actions on Members for Twitter posts, do you have any idea how easy it would be for me to get all my friends banned from Sony, or people I hate by using their IGN, or Login ID as my twitter on a disposable account, lets not even talk about the people who use temporary email registration email's then make new accounts from a new IP every time.
Forum Trolling, and banning is one thing.
Banning a person for trolling in a game, or scamming is another, I don't support any of this conduct but if a player is stupid enough to fall for a troll, or a scam its their own fault.
Just a word of advise if sony is going to start taking matters of things that occur outside Sony's service into their service, and they bark up the wrong tree again then next time it might be worse than what happened with the PSN network being down like a week because their computer security is just as bad as HB-Gary. Which btw both are Multi-Million Dollar Companies.
I would However Like to see "Ever Quest Next" be a big success, and it could be.
However after all that I have seen Sony do, including ruining my friends SWG experience, adding Cash Shops to games, I do not know as a consumer if I can even trust sony not to add a bunch of micro-transactions to their new game after I buy it and play it for a couple of months even if it was good.
I hope that if EQN is actually a successful game that the Character Models, and Art-Work I am seeing on the internet are actually part of the game, not like EverQuest 2 Box-Art which the game's characters looked completely like trash even at max graphics.
Even if EQN is a success, Companies like NCsoft, Black Desert, Gamers First, PWI, Nexon, ArcheAge, All these games have had a chance over the years to bring a solid Tripple A game to the MMO community, even take sony, and Blizzards subscribers down for good, but the problem is the lack of developers, and developers who never listen to consumers plus wanting lots of money/getting greedy over a flat subscription rate option plus Micro Transactions that do not effect a persons main game-play.

Then I think that the game can be successful as long as they put in Actual Customization of characters for FREE to subscribers and make it similar to Rift/Rom, and of course don't put in a cash shop to make it pay 2 enjoy or pay 2 win they could run a successful tripple A MMO, compared to what sony has now.
I hope that they don't do this.

They should put more emphasis into insuring that their servers don't get hacked again. So my debit/credit card won't get canceled on me like last time when hackers breached their security and gained more then 23,000 Credit Card and Bank account numbers...

Are you seriously trying to play Planetside 2 with a PC that you used to play Planetside 1? That was, what ... 10 years ago? Don't you think it's time to change said PC? After all, even the consoles changed two generations since then.

I can't recall a game company that wasn't hacked:
Steam, Bungie, Trion, Riot, Blizzard, Ubisoft, Epic games, Nintendo, Bethesda, Sega ... did I miss anyone?
Nope But this pc can play planetside 1 great, can't play planetside 2 or EverQuest 2 even in low graphics it lags like heck.
Here is a list of games I do run okay in max graphics.

I often run multiple clients of DarkFall Unholy Wars I have no issues with lag.
It is just Sonys game.
What I am saying is the developers who designed PlanetSide 1 knew what they were doing.
How old is that machine of yours? In the same breath you mention games that were released in 2005 and 2013.
Anyway, for starters, the two Planetsides are nowhere in the region in terms of requirements. The first one had 200 people battles in a continent, the second has 2000. The game is very CPU intensive, so you will see more of a difference with a high speed (GHz) quad CPU than with a graphics card upgrade (which is important, but not as much).
Also in what settings are you running all those games? Some of them have quite steep requirements if you push the capability of their engines and some not as much.
Anyway, PS2 definitely needs more optimisation. It needs to utilise better multiple cores than it current does for starters. Still, if you are not in that generation of CPUs, I wouldn't even bother with it.
Here's a question I keep asking myself ? Would I buy a 30,000.00 $ car from someone who has a pony-tail or tattoo's. No Salesmen and PR should be viewed very carefully and always remember SOE is a business.
