Dungeon Finder is GARBAGE

When is gear score coming out? I just got a Amdapor keep PUG with a guy wearing 5 pieces of sub level 38 gear. He had a level 28 belt, 2 level 28 rings, and two level 38 pieces of jewelry. He also has level 45 armor on. This is for a level 55 dungeon!!!
This isn't elitism from my side, its them piggyback riding off of people who work hard. This happens a lot with dungeon finder. I know they said they would put gear score in but when. This is getting ridiculous.
This isn't the starter dungeon either. Even if I find a guildie or two to group with we always get one busted up idiot in here who wants to piggy back off us.
And don't say, oh why don't you get a full team then so you don't have to pug. Well you can if everyone is online, but I play late at night so its hard to get a full team on my server.

Spare a thought for that player first, did you speak to them and ask why the lack of relevant gear? was the player familar with MMO's? or was this their first, was the player a child who didn't fully understand what was expected of them when playing with others inside a dungeon?
I've allowed my own children to play MMO's, the youngest is 11 and she has played such MMO's as WoW and had pretty bad experiences from intolerant players who have not given them the guidance they had hoped for when entering new parts of the game, the only way you learn is from other players and when those players are only too quick to judge because they feel you are having a negative impact on their gaming time then what chance do new players have of improving.
Perhaps in the future when someone has a dig at your own performance that you think back to how you judged others, a good community does not just appear over night, it takes the players themselves to educate thier fellow players on what is expected of them, treat others how you would like to be treated, plain and simple.
What the guy below said, Whilst it is frustrating gear is only a part of the end character, I would take someone with sub-level gear but knows their chraracter than a dick who has everythin uber leet uber gear and can't play crap.
Mind you im sure you were leet before you first did dungeons, having either A = guild help you or B - 'piggy backed' (your term) off other groups.
Simple fact is when pugging your always going to get the 'have and have nots' you do simply have 2 choices, get over it and have fun trying to do with a harder group or B wait until all your leet mates get on and run with them boring the hll out of the game because content is too easy.
This rant isn't aimed directly at you, but to ANYone else who moans about pug groups and wanting the best players with best gear in their group. This goes to any MMO and not FF14

The lvl 45 armor in amdapor is fine [mod edit]
Once you reach 50 you either keep farming Castrum to get 100 tomes for darklight set OR do amdapor or wanderer's palace to get lvl 50 green drops.
I am so sick and tired of people claiming that an activity they engage in for entertainment purposes is 'work'. You didn't 'work hard'. Digging ditches all day is working hard. Killing digital monsters for digital loot while sitting in a comfortable chair is a leisure activity, and should be treated as such.
Also for all we know you're the one who, despite having 'worked' for your gear, dragged the party down by failing to play your class well. A knowledgeable player is far more valuable then a well geared one, in my experience. Especially since gear in FFARR isn't nearly as important as most other MMOs. I would say it's somewhere between WoW and GW2.
Next time try talking to the person before you start frothing at the mouth. By being a better person, you just may help someone become a better player.
Of course if he's one of the type to tell you to STFU because he knows what he's doing, then by all means flame the bastard straight to hell. People like that are even worse than the elitists.

Two days ago I had to battle Navel and used the duty finder. Right from the get go we had this ass wipe make some kind of nasty remarks, this is before we even started. People were not even out of the video clip and he was asking why he did not get all my buffs.
On the start all three of us admitted that we never did it before. This is part of the level 35 story line and something you should not expect any one to have done. It's also something that most would not research because it's not an official dungeon.
We got the crap kicked out of us and he started to curse out a dps and the tank for taking hits and not jumping out of the way. He went on to say he was taking zero damage. Me being the healer I know he was taking exactly the same damage. Four attempt and we gave up because of the jack ass...Just When we were getting better at it.
The OP sounds just like this guy !
A little Pro tip :
If you are expecting total professionalism, You better.
A) research for a strong guild.
b) Play normal hours.
Anything less than your just like that jack ass in the story above.
If that really is the case then FF XIV is a VERY bad game...
Just a quick response to some of the replies:
A. It wasn't a child because his replies about his gear were like "meh (insert sarcastic comment here)". DOn't know any small children that use "meh maybe later" etc.
B. The guy was aware there was a starter dungeon, and he was in the 2nd level dungeon
C. How am I being elite? I'm not in the starter dungeon, he knows it isn't the starter dungeon, he knows the starter dungeon exists, he knows the market exists. So I'm not being an elitist "dick" as was put in here, I just want more than some freeloader in level 28 gear in a level 55 dungeon!
D. There is a market, it costs like 3,0000-5,000 for level 40-50 rings and gear
E. When someone quit, he was like "oh I don't care I'm watching tv" So the guy was a jerk
Lastly, this is very common even in Ifrit. People routinely get one shotted so its basically a 5-6 man raid. People are sporting level 20 and 30 gear in a level 70 boss raid. That's not elitist that is a fact. Facts don't make me elitist. Do you think people wearing level 20s & 30s gear in a level 55 dungeon or level 70 boss is acceptable? Really? If so, I'm guess your one of the offenders I'm talking about.
(btw, it isn't just one piece here and there. It's people decked out in this crap. level 45 starter gear, level 30s belts, and level 20s/30s accessories. Gear score is coming when?
EDIT: Funny how the responses don't revolve around responses to my questions. Do you think having level 20 gear or 30 gear in a level 55-77 boss/raid is acceptable or not? (deal with it isn't an answer) I can use the exact same remark for everything. Oh hey, you don't want to buy better gear off the market? suck it up, deal with it, and buy the gear!!! (see how easy it is to make stupid replies page975?)
Gear score itself is a bit of an elitist tool, but you're right these people should know better. Sadly idiots will do as they please. Best option is to inform them no matter how good their playstyle gear like that will get them and the group killed.

Both are your responsibility and your problem.

Again, you aren't addressing the issue. The issue is they aren't addressing their responsibility, which is to dps, heal, tank what have you. That is THEIR responsibility. Being able to fill your role is their responsibility. I dunno why you wanna bring non game issues into a game discussion. My hours of play or guild has nothing to do with their piggybacking does it? So learn to address the core issue. The core issue isn't my RL, but there being no gear score lock out.
EVERY MMO SINCE THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF MMO HISTORY, players played like this.
it is your responsibility to over come this issue. You are not gonna change how people play EVER. If your playing late hours and have less of a player base, they ONLY YOU can change this.

1) Dungeon finders are the cancer of the modern MMO gaming.
2) If it's even remotely possible to clear content in 20-30 level lower gear, the game is broken.
3) You should always be able to choose the people you are going to play with. Playing with a terrible personality or a terrible player is not fun.

You need to enroll in a logic course or a debate training course at a university near you or something, because your replies are flawed and not relevant to the topic of gear score.
A. My play hours have nothing to do with the devs introducing gear score into the game
B. Your reply that I should change my play hours is like saying "stick your head in the sand". I see this flawed reply to many many posts. Please remember this going forward when you post. Think to yourself, "is what I'm posting talking about the fixing the issue at hand? or am I telling the guy to avoid the issue and do something else?"
C. The issue is players undergeared going into high level dungeons.
D. I don't have to change my play hours. Gear score would require them to farm gear near to their level to do harder stuff. Changing my play hours doesn't fix the problem in the game. so again this reply from you is like saying "hey be an ostrich, stick your head in the sand"
E. Again, just for your replies: Replies that don't address the issue are too many to count. I could make 50 suggestions off the top of my head that appear somewhat related to my post but actually aren't. I could say "well why don't I unplug my computer so I don't have to deal with it. I mean it's my responsibility to whether or not I'm exposed to this piggybacking? If it turn off my computer and don't play that's the same as me changing times and playing during the day or finding a good guild right? And doing this solves the problem of piggybacking that exists across all servers right? If I just find a better time it will fix the issue im discussing right? Wrong, I'm talking about gear score, which would fix the issue. Not about one of 20,000 things that aren't directly related to the issue of gear score being implemented.
Sounds like it to me too, but I don't play the game, so is will not bother me ;p
As someone else said, you aren't going to fix the player base, I gave up on PUGS long ago because of the types of behavior you experienced which even getting a proper gear score put in won't change.
Until SE puts in the changes you're pretty much stuck either working around the problem as suggested (which people have been doing since MMO's first started)
Oh yes, and if you come to these forums expecting people to be sympathetic to your plight, OK fine, I agree with you, those players should not come under-geared to the dungeon, and you are a better player because you don't do this.
But most folks here are going to expect you to figure out ways to work around the problem and manage the situation until it changes, and some folks will mock you for showing an inability to be flexible and do so. (Many will attack anything that comes across as whining)
