Went back to Rift recently and really enjoying the game.  Trion has done an excellent job with the game and I love the F2P they use.

    Greetings every!

I just had to add my two cents.  Many of you are missing out on a Great MMO called Perpetuum Online:

This game is sort of like EVE, but with robots on an alien world. There is a learning curve too, but the game really opens up a lot after you get past it!

Still playing NEOCRON. Best mmorpg/fps out there. Still a few hundert players online every day, tons of fun to grind and pvp.

So you think its acceptable for someone to com in and say:

WoW is the most underrated game.  It has amazing graphics and the group dungeons provide a perfect challenge.

Of course not, its a load of horse shit.  It benefits no one because 99% of people are unlikely to form the same opinion.  i would be overrating a game, and the op did not ask to overrate a game.

    Now if I said instead:

WoW is the most underrated game.  While the graphics may not be technically amazing, the style holds up quite well and the game has a ton of character because of it.  I also have a ton of fun with my guildies working to get to a gold time on the challenge mode dungeons.  people don't realize that there is a LOT to do besides just dailies.

Then that is more inline with the intent of this thread.

Welcome to mmorpg.com noob! Let us show you around.

LOL, I wont even bother replying to the poor guy anymore. Classic hater that we have seen come and go.

Mabinogi. Been playing it for over four years. Everyone thinks it's P2W because of some people disliking the game and spouting nonsense they know nothing about. The "P2W" items that they are talking about can easily be earned in the game and also aren't even really required unless you want to be super duper in PvP... And in Mabinogi PvP is completely pointless. You earn absolutely nothing from it.

I'm currently playing FFXIV, but I did play Dragons Prophet for a few days...

I loved it. I really honestly enjoyed the game. I've never spent money on a f2p game but I spent (small amount I know) $10 in DP just to play around with it...

The reason I stopped playing was because there was no one around. I'd be lucky if I saw 4-5 people in a given area at most.

Im off cycling from MMOs right now so my top 3 are all browser based and definitely not mainstream:

    1. world of dungeons-old school D&D rpg

    2. trophy online fishing 2 & TF Hunting-one of those fishing and hunting based games you just cant find good ones in

    3. the hunter-an amazing graphical game for a browser game that features some pretty realistic hunting....Unfortunately f2ps can only hunt mule deer but still a nice game to take a break from MMOs with

Your replies were you just trying to put me down in the first place, and calling someone who disagrees with you a hater is pretty silly.  Upset that this site has a lot of negativity?  Don't contribute to it.  Agree to disagree and move on without the attempted put downs.

I'm not playing any at the moment after bailing on the FFXIV stink bomb that's not worth a sub.

There are a few mentioned here that I think are definitely worthy.

TSW has some of the, if not the, best solo content ever in MMORPGs.  I prefer MMORPGs to be about grouping, but if you must have solo idiot mode, TSW does it the best and has some challenging solo content.  It also has excellent instances and grouping, a cool character development system, excellent endgame setup even if it's too brief, and more.  Definitely worth checking out if you haven't and stick with it for a while because it starts out a bit rough in that it takes a little while to get a build fleshed out and to "get" some of the game - there isn't a lot of hand holding.

It's trendy to hate on SWTOR, which is childishly silly.  It's actually a very good game worth checking out.  Very solid content.  WoW-like classes (pre-panda dumbed downedness) but considering some of the whacko alternatives that've popped up this is actually a good thing.  Star wars, lightsabers...definitely worth trying even if SWTOR's F2P implementation is horrid.

TERA has one of the kinder and gentler F2P implementations, very bland and generic quest content, solid instances, somewhat boring class development, some of the most interesting "armor" you'll ever see on sexy avatars, and the very best of the action style combat.  I like both styles (action vs tab target) and don't consider one better than the other, but, if you haven't tried action style combat in TERA, where it is by far the best that's it's been done, then you're doing yourself a disservice.  TERA is good overall but experiencing the combat is worth it alone.

RIFT also has a gentle F2P setup.  I don't care for REX, I consider currency exchange to be facilitating cheating, and it's a shame, because RIFT is IMO one of the better MMORPGs.  It's like WoW without the suck and with way more content variety and stuff to do that's worth doing (I hardly consider vanity pet battles to be even worth mentioning...another reason panda express has become a joke).  Rift has one of the better character development systems and endgame raiding progression that rivals WoW - just usually more of it.  I kind of feel like their first real xpac was off the mark a little but it doesn't diminish the overall game any.  And Trion rocks.

Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

Pretty much this as far as I'm concerned. The game's combat and abilities were just so... horrible really. Which is a damn shame considering how awesome the setting is.

You know, that's the issue with so many mmos nowadays. They all fu*k up one key aspect of the game design, which ruins all the other near perfect aspects. There could be a buisness of selling these kinds of mmos to companies that actually give a sh*t about gutting the bad parts and adding a better one to make near perfect mmos on the cheap.

This is true, but I would also argue that the nearly nonexistent crafting (what is there sucks) and small world size didn't help the problem. TSW has a lot of core functionality that is either poor or simply not there.

As was originally mentioned however, the world, lore, quests, and atmosphere are in my opinion the best on the market.

Although I hate to admit it, Vendetta Online is probably underrated; leastwise, I feel it deserves more than its current metacritic score, which is based mostly off of reviews from 2005, and it certainly deserves more than this guy's flippant, cursory take on the game via Ouya.
