Little effort? It takes 10 minutes to mine one iron node. That won't even give you enough iron to make a decent weapon. You are looking at 4+ hours of harvesting to replace it every time you die. Someone will come along and say "just buy it with gold" but even that takes a lot of time and effort. Unless you cheat/dupe or get extremely lucky with drops.
xTriad Planetside 2 is closer to daoc than gw2. It's an actual rvr game for a start rather than a 2 week long red vs green vs blue fight.
To me WvW has more in common with alterac valley in vanilla wow than it does rvr. It lasts 2 weeks instead of 36 hours or whatever and has 3 sides, but its still al instanced off and gamey.
I remember when WAR came out and people complained about it's animations, although they were fine imo.
I didn't understand the carebear mentality that zero's in on something like animations then, and I don't understand it now.
WTF!? Drop the carebear BS. Why is it all of sudden it is carebear to wonder about animation quality. It's called being a gamer! Period. Oh Wait I am sorry the all might @$%^ing PVP player don't approve so it must be some carebear thing right?
Look we are all bloody gamers... gtf over it.
Thank you. If you take a great game idea and couple it with poor game animations and bad combat animations/implementation it still becomes a poor game that most will not stay and play.
Are we talking about WAR or Darkfall here?
Cuz there sure is an echo in this room.
Same things were said, by the same people who couldn't see the forest for the trees.
What forest do we seem to be missing? All I know is if I can't get past poor mechanics in a game I could care less what the rest of the forest is.
War didn't have had animation, it had "not exactly like wow" animation.
A bit off animation / clunky combat would be stuff like lotro, DF, and to a lesser extent tsw & rift. Swtor would be a weird one, really good animations, but clunky combat, clunkier than war anyway.
Actual combat feel wise, for a tab Target game I can only think of wow and the 2 gws that have better feeling combat, although war beats both wow and gw2 in underlying combat mechanics with dual targeting and the way tanks work.
That said I'm into real time combat now. I would love a chivalry mmo.
Originally posted by drakaena I'd be all about DF if it wasn't FPV. I also hear aim-botting is rampant. Typical of most FPS online games.
Hacks like radar and aimbots are very common in darkfall. One clan in particular is well known for cheating. So well known that many guild leaders tell their members not to engage them in underwater combat because you die so fast to their aimbots. They never get banned though so most people believe they have some sort of dev connections. Thread after thread about them is locked or deleted on the forums. I petitioned a GM once to report that clan's leader and he got really defensive and asked me where my proof was. I petitioned a few days earlier for someone in a different clan and the same gm was very polite and thanked me for the report.
Hacks are common in all online games. It doesn't make a difference if its aim based or tab Target.
Wow was terrible for hackers a few years back. Gw2 had its fair share when I tried it.
All those radar, walk through walls, speed, shoot through walls & teleport hacks work on both real time and tab Target mmos.
The only hack exclusive to mmos where you aim is aimbot. But then you have hacks that only work on tab Target mmos like ones that skip global cooldown, ones that auto select abilities based on range, health and conditions and the one that is absolutely rife in all tab Target mmo pvp, queueing several attacks so they all fire off a single global cooldownfor a huge unhealable spike of damage.
