Making interesting environments to fight in - YES PLEASE!

Warhammer 40k is an incredibly rich in lore IP, with a huge variety of architecture.

So far everyone has been worried about how their Space Marines will look like, but the game will get boring pretty fast if environments are dull and uninspired.

Granted we know that initially Campaigns will be based on worlds. On that basis I want to see a large amount of visual variety.

Planetside 2 was essentially just massive rocky landmass with some scattered buildings. While this is nice, it would be an insult to the Warhammer 40k universe to not have incredible looking architecture.

Here's some stuff I dug up from DMO 40k (the one that never made it) and other misc Warhammer40k architecture related art.

    Yes! /signed

I hope they don't go the route of Planetside 2 for terrain and settings...mostly barren with a few sterile structures.

I do hope they create mostly wartorn civilization type settings with some way out in the boonies outposts, and a variety of terrain like swamps, desert (meh), arctic (meh), jugle (not simply jungle like fauna in a forest setup, but true steamy packed jungle terrai), Hive cities, city ruins, and more.

If I only could pick 3 it be

    #1 Rundown wartorn Hivecity

    #2 Swamps

#3 Rocky desert region with war remenants and pollution fallout.

I really like those pictures, and yes - we are going for this kind of epicness, but you'll see once we can show some screenshots, though it's war, not much will be in 'mint' condition LOL.

Are they going procedural generated landscapes?

Variety is good, then you have scouts working out where things are would be a key strategic addition.

I really hope they do a lot with the z-axis. The jump troops going way way higher yet again, I actually think that's an area Firefall did well with. And then you can always have going -z too.

Some hard cover and soft cover also? And different damage for terrain would be ace.

But yeah, some of the wartorn cityscapes in WH40 are very iconic.

Yes, I WOULD like to see the 40K architecture realized in all it's glory. I hope with every ounce of MMO energy I have that they look long and hard at what happened to WAR...and then make sure they do not follow that path.

It is almost a crime if you are an artist, to not take this magnificent, incredibly developed IP and not run amok with it. Sweeping huge planet/cities, Gothic architecture, over the top inquisitor uniforms, etc etc. Every thing from the landscape down to the last imperial eagle on a bolter strikes me as a digital artists dream come true.

However, I also realize that all those pixels add up and start to get heavy. So, my bottom line is; I hope they can realize as much as possible of the art and mix that with cutting edge game play, and let us immerse ourselves in the already epic story that is Wahammer 40K.

I hate to get excited, but it is hard not too with this IP.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

When looking at the size we have in mind there will be some procedural generated stuff in there, but everything will be manually adjusted to make sense - and yes, the Jump Packs are great to use already :D
