Black Desert Beta System Requirements

ShauneepeakShauneepeak Member UncommonPosts: 424

So the Minimum and Recommended System specs for the Black Desert closed beta have been announced and honestly I find them quite surprising. The Minimum Requirements are quite high though seeing as this is a Beta that is to be expected but the Recommended requirements are surprisingly low, at least to me.

Black Desert

  Minimum Requirements Recommended
OS Windows 7/8 Windows 7/8
Processor Intel Core I3 Intel Core I5
Hard Disk 40GB 40GB
Ram 4GB 6GB
Graphic Card GTS 250 / Geforce 9800 GTX / Radeon HD 3870 X2 GTX 650 / GTX 550 Ti /Radeon HD 7770 / Radeon HD 6770

In comparison here are the requirements for FFXIV ARR and Guild Wars 2.

FFXIV

  Minimum Requirements Recommended
OS Windows Vista 32/64bit, Windows 7 32/64 bit Windows 7 64bit
Processor Intel Core Duo Intel Core I5
Hard Disk 20GB 20GB
Ram 2GB (4GB recommended for 64bit OS) 6GB
Graphic Card NVIDIA Geforce 8800 Series / ATI Radeon HD 4770 NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 or higher / AMD Radeon HD 7950 or higher

Guild Wars 2
  Minimum Requirements Recommended (Unofficial)
OS Windows XP Service Pack 2 or better Windows 7 64bit
Processor Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2 or better Intel Core 2 Quad Q6400 2.13GHz or better / AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core or better
Hard Disk 25GB 25GB
Ram 2GB 4GB
Graphic Card NVIDIA® GeForce 7800 / ATI Radeon X1800 / Intel HD 3000 or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better) NVIDIA Geforce GTS 450 2GB DDR3 or higher / AMD Radeon HD 5670 1024MB or higher

As you can see the minimum requirements are a good deal higher than both FFXIV ARR and GW2 which I expected, though this is early beta so by release with better optimization they may end up being closer. Black Desert's recommended on the other hand are very similar to the FFXIV ARR's but Black Desert's graphical requirements are great deal lower. Black Desert's recommended requirements are Much higher than GW2 in all regards.

Square Enix's and Pearl Abyss' definition of "Recommended" may be vastly different from the looks of it I am assuming Square's recommended would get close to Ultra setting at an easily playable FPS where as from most games I see recommended will usually get you Medium-high settings at a steady playable FPS so that could very well be Pearl Abyss' definition of "Recommended".

So what do all of you think about this and do you feel your rigs(presently) would run Black Desert on Ultra?

Those requirements were taken directly from the FFXIV website so tell that to Square not me.

Uhm, and by your logic, Black Desert may view minimum requirements different than both of those games, so does it really mean much yet?  It looks conflicting.  I don't play either of those two, so nothing invested in them.  Although I was thinking of trying FF, but it had the glitches (couldn't play at launch so I waited), and stopped selling, then I had a long vacation and now I am probably on the side of not getting it.  I own GW2 and thought it was too cluttered and disliked the classes I tried...

Black Desert looks nice, but I really wouldn't put too much into this information, especially if you are right at the bottom for any of these specs.

Uhm what? Where did I state that I didn't believe those were the specs?

Oh that's how I interpreted what you typed. I said in my OP that FFXIV's graphical requirements were a great deal higher so that's why I didn't infer that you were talking about the comparison. So my bad.

wrong system requeriments, like in everygame says that minimun i s a geforce 9800 GTX but with mine 9500 i run on ULTRA with average 60 fps.

i still run BF3 on ultra (Anti aliansing 0x) with no lag

I don't think the recommended specs will run this game on ultra with 60 FPS during sieges and such. The game looks too good for that. They're most likely for "normal" small group PvE.

this game don't look suficient to need this specs, geforce 8600 will run it with no lag

this is spec is too much don't will lag even on siege.
