The reason you are shocked Thomas is because you have no idea what your are looking at. If you think 720P looks better than 1080p then obviously what you are looking at is not 1080P.
As is shown in the link above, if you are comparing 720 and 1080 side by side, they should look almost identical from a resolution standpoint, on screens less than 50 inches. Its only above that size that 1080P appears to have the sharper image.
So snap that jaw closed because whatever you are looking at is not the real thing.

Ryse? it does look good although its only 900p. But i lost every possible interest in that game when they showed the massive amount of QTEs plaguing the gameplay. Some companies will never learn that QTEs should be the least (and last) thing they consider to put in game.
The combat has been totally redone. They ditched the QTE system.
i was totally unaware of that. And that is actually great news. Ty
They said from the get go it was not a QTE system people were seeing, those button icons only represented quick kills.

Just curious where everyone is, now that the Xbox One review embargo has been lifted and its come to light that the xbox one version of CoD ghosts, though running at a lower resolution, does not suffer from the same framerate dips as the PS4 version.
Hmm do you want a console that you "think" looks better just because you keep telling yourself it does, but suffers from "consistent framerate drops" Or do you want one that looks identical to the other and plays flawless the entire time?
"But the site goes on to say that "the difference is harder to identify in absence of a side-by-side comparison".
"IGN noted "occasional framerate issues during the single-player campaign on PS3 and PS4", while observing that "the Xbox One version was stable throughout".
"Call of Duty: Ghosts suffers from consistent framerate drops on the PS4, especially during multiplayer when action got especially hectic," the site reports.
"The Xbox One version suffered no such drops, maintaining a steady 60 frames per second throughout. For a multiplayer shooter, framerate consistency is paramount. Given its relative visual parity with the PS4 release, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a more playable, slightly superior (albeit disappointing) game on Xbox One," declared Polygon.

But but but, I thought Micro$oft had the embargo in place because it had framerate dips too....im confused :P

Personally, my preference would be for framerates over screen resolution. If the framerate drops are noticed on one version over the other, I would wonder why the developer chose to stick with 1080p on one system versus the other system.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
This has been what developers have been saying since this whole resolution thing came up. Sometimes going with a lower resolution gives the game a much better frame rate which is more important. I bet Activision told Sony its best to go lower then 1080P but Sony insisted they make it 1080p.
Screen size, where you sit, and what sort of vision you have determine if 1080 looks better than 720. For most using a screen under 50 inches the difference won't be noticeable.
I was going to stay out of the consoles this generation, but after Blizzcon, Diablo 3 sold me on the PS4. That game looked and played awesome. Better than PC even. Also another thing that PS4 will have whenever it comes out, Gran Turismo! Halo was the only reason I really had an xbox, and I'm so tired of Halo. Other PS4 exclusives I'd miss are Infamous, Killzone, Rime (looks really cool!)
The Battlefield 4 movie is kind of misleading. If you look at Assassin's Creed 4 videos of Xbox one and PS4, it's totally different on each console. The water and edges on Xbox one look like PC games 5+ years ago. On PS4 it looks better than or just as good as anything on PC. It's the developer's that make the difference between them I think. The graphics on PS4 do look better if the developer puts the time to actually push it.

Not the real thing ? Yeah ok....
Well here's the thing Thomas. You made no mention of exactly what you were looking at when you made your statement. All you said was was you thought a 720P image looked better than a 1080P image. The only real way to compare the two is to view both images in their native resolution on similar size screens. Anything else is an invalid comparison.
And from a resolution standpoint it is obvious that an image with less resolution cannot look better than one with higher resolution. It can look the same but not better. Impossible.
Likely what you are refering to are subjective things about the XBox coding of the game and the image it provides over the Sony version. If you like the way it looks "better" than the Sony then I won't argue with you. Its just that the reason it looks better to you has nothing to do with whether it is 720P or 1080P.
That was the point I was trying to make. Not disagreeing with you liking one image better. But your statement has no context with regards to 720P vs 1080p. It is just you looking at two images and saying one looks better than the other.

I have a '55 TV, I sit about 15 feet away from it (which is too far to be able to see the difference between 1080p and 720p at that screen size), so the 1080p resolution does not play a roll in which system I'll choose. However, price and game selection will. I actually DO like the Kinect, so the next version of it will be very welcome in my home, but perhaps I'll wait for the first price drop. There are plenty of current Gen games that I haven't played that can keep me busy in the meantime.

Many reviewers are giving the nod to xbox one. I am honestly curious where all the people claiming M$ was trying to hide something, and "you'll see" etc are in this thread.
So its been confirmed by Activision yesterday that the current PS4 version of CoD Ghosts is running at 720p, and will recieve a day 1 patch on the 15th to unlock native 1080p.....that includes many review copies thus far.
So, why the f**k has the PS4 been having framerate issues in 720p, where the xbox one version stay locked at a solid 60 fps?????....im curious what will happen after the resolution boost...
The plot just thinkened quite a bit, in fact it basically confirmed that many review outlets are full of crap. Its also funny that any reviewer thus far who stated that they couldnt really tell the difference when comparing the 2, got crapped on as being M$ employees lol. I am curious what the OP thinks of all this lol.

There is also a day one patch coming for the PS4 that may include some performance items in addition to unlocking the console and giving access to online "stuff".
It really is difficult to tell the difference between native 720p upscaled to 1080p and native 1080p. Especially with all the image filters that are applied to images to make them look better. If the reviewers expect to see a difference, they will see a difference, whether there is one that can be discerned or not. They don't have to be M$ employees to be affected by that bit of behavior.
I wonder about the FPS thing too. The reviews I've read on other games for the PS4 show the console having beautiful graphics well ahead of the PS3 and frame rates that are rock solid without straining the system at all. I'm starting to think any issues between the XB1 and PS4 versions of CoD:G are related to the developer, not the consoles.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Xbox will do fine, PS4 , not so much at that price point.
M$ try to make money out of gamers by their console sales, while Sony try to make good a hardware loss by making money on software. Plus, if M$ console TV does not work in your location a big waste of your bucks on the purchase.

"Linux Shaders" isn't a real thing. There are routines in both DirectX and OpenGL that tell the graphics hardware to do some shading, making spheres smooth and such, but there's no such thing as a "Linux Shader".
TLDR: The difference between the two systems in terms of shaders is going to be determined by the hardware, not the software. Given that the hardware in both systems is made by AMD, and there are minimal differences, there will be minimal differences between the two systems.

One of the really disturbing aspects of Xbox One is that it monitors yourself by the camera and biometrics systems. Who knows what M$ could do with this information. It's almost as if by buying Xbox One and agreeing with the M$ online terms and conditions that you sign up to their electronic hardware monitoring you by camera and your biometric data too. I for one do not want M$ to have that kind of knowledge of myself. Given recent disclosures with the way many world intelligence agencies gather online info, it is very worrying that M$ will be gathering this data from their customers, who knows who might get hold of it.

Well, we now have an answer.
The PS4 version of CoD Ghosts isnt dropping frames, its framerate problems are actually a result of it running higher than 60 frames per second.

exactly this. I have a 60inch tv so 1080p is more important then say someone with a 42 inch. At 42inch, 720p looks like 1080p on a 60inch.
