What should I upgrade?

Shoko_LiedShoko_Lied Member UncommonPosts: 2,193

Between these two. To play Battlefield 4 smoothly on ultra.

I5 2500 @ 3.30GHz (non sandybridge)

GTX 570 superlocked

I'm not sure which one is needing of upgrade to get the most performance boost. Any computer savvy people out there have any suggestions?

what are you upgrading from?  Not knowing what your specs currently are I would go with the video card because that is a gpu heavy game.  Unless of course your processor is extremely out of date at which case you would need both.

sorry i read your post incorrectly, the processor you have is a good enough i would go with the video card.  GTX 760 or 770

You can't get a much faster CPU, as they simply don't exist.

You could get a faster video card.  What's your budget?

A good SSD is worth buying if you don't have one already.

I ended up choosing the GTX 770, as anything above that for Nvidia seems to be around the $470+ range. I hear the 770 is a bit faster than the 680, and is about the same size as my 570. I was thinking about getting a 760, but I think the performance of the 770 is probably worth the $60 or so extra. I hope.

The 770 is the same chip as the 680. It has newer version of Boost, so that helps a little, but by and large you won't see much more performance out of it.

The 760 is the old 670. $60 probably is reasonable for the amount of additional performance.

Here's the comparison between your 570 and the 770, in case you were interested after the fact

Thanks for the info. I considered the 680 but I found the 770 was actually less expensive more often than not.
