During Blizzcon 2013, Blizzard announced the new World of Warcraft expansion. Called "WARLORDS OF DRAENOR", the expansion will feature a level cap increase, new character models, instant 90 to play immediately, and more.
Draenor is a land of magma and metal, stone and steam. City-forges wrap her twin moons in smog, and wheels deform the earth. Vicious saberon, winged arakkoa, spike-skinned gronn, and more unusual creatures rule the edges of the world, feasting on anything they kill.
Enigmatic draenei refugees have built a coastal foothold into a glimmering state replete with the libraries and worship-halls of their timeless civilization. Meanwhile, the Iron Horde’s slaves labor on engines of war pointed at the draenei and worlds beyond.
Kingdoms, clans, tribes, men, women, children – all are tense as coiled muscles.
To clash with the greatest army Draenor has ever known, you’ll need your own forces and your own fortress. Construct a mighty garrison: an enduring home base integrated seamlessly with the world, not a hiding spot far from the action. Customize it with specialized structures like farms, stables, armories, workshops and more.
Establish trade routes and unlock new quests, gear and pets to support your war for Draenor. Recruit stalwart followers to man your base, and send them to loot dungeons, fulfill missions, and craft items, even if you’re offline. Tame a deadly realm, and build an unbreakable monument to victory.
Before the orcs first invaded Azeroth, the Iron Horde rose to dominate a historic age. Only the heroes of past and present still defy the warlords of Draenor. Through a refined, flexible questing system, you’ll meet storied heroes and villains in battle without slowing your exploration of a forbidding land. As you and your allies win victories, you’ll be duly rewarded—any quest can randomly award bonus rare or epic items. Stand beside legends. Break the tide of steel.

ANAHEIM, Calif.—November 8, 2013—The heroes of Azeroth are on the verge of a war that will reforge the fate of two worlds. Announced today at BlizzCon® 2013, World of Warcraft®: Warlords of Draenor™,the fifth expansion to Blizzard Entertainment’s acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing game, sends players to the world of Draenor at a pivotal moment in history to fight against and alongside legends from Warcraft’s brutal past.
Across Draenor's savage jungles and battle-scarred plains, Azeroth's heroes will engage in a mythic conflict involving mystical draenei champions and mighty orc clans, and cross axes with the likes of Grommash Hellscream, Blackhand, and Ner’zhul at the height of their primal power. Players will need to scour this unwelcoming land in search of allies to help build a desperate defense against the old Horde’s formidable engine of conquest—or else watch their own world’s bloody, war-torn history repeat itself.
“Warlords of Draenor gives players a chance to take a commanding role in one of the Warcraft series’ most crucial conflicts,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “This expansion also includes features that make it easy for anyone to jump right into the action, whether they’ve played WoW at some point in the past or are just setting foot in Azeroth for the first time.”
To help new and returning players answer the call to arms on Draenor, the expansion will enable anyone to instantly boost one character to level 90, including a newly created character, quickly getting them up to speed and ready to enjoy the latest content with their friends.
To establish a foothold on Draenor once they’ve arrived, the displaced champions of the Horde and Alliance will be able to construct their own Garrison, an expandable, customizable stronghold that will serve as each player’s personal base of operations throughout the course of the expansion. As the Garrison grows, players will be able to recruit NPC allies and followers to take up residence, gathering resources and embarking on missions on the player’s orders.
Warlords of Draenor will also introduce fully revamped player character models and animations for many of World of Warcraft’s existing playable races, bringing the orcs, humans, and several other longtime residents of Azeroth up to the visual standards of newer races while still maintaining their iconic style and identity.
Along with these new features, World of Warcraft players will enjoy a wide array of new content on their way to the new level cap of 100, including new Zones, Dungeons, Raids, Scenarios, Battlegrounds, and more. Warlords of Draenor will also introduce questing improvements designed to encourage exploration and add unpredictability to players’ ongoing adventures.

Life of an MMORPG "addict"
For 7 years, proving that if you quote "fuck" you won't get banned.
Finally, a way to have all my characters at 90 instead slogging through content I've seen a million times already. Very happy about this "boost to 90 and play immediately". Just as long as it's not a paid service or stuck behind RAF(I don't have friends who would play for me to use this).
Housing! Yess! New WORLD, not continent, yesss!
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
Smile
did any of you actually play WoW back in the days that you're "looking for again"?
They are adding a open pvp "world" (not zone).
that right there brings it back.
and upgraded character models are way past due and going to be a really nice touch.
i'm excited to see how this expansion fairs.
EDIT - it's also 9 years old. it's never going to revolutionize again.
it's up there with everquest now, just making expansions for the remaining players to be okay
One question thou. If you have slogged through all the content a million times already, shouldn't all your characters already be at max level?
Making insta 90's = don't know how to play there characters.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Why did it have to be draenei? I think I'd rather play with pink fluffy ponies than draenei.
Other than that, sounds like some really cool features.
Except it's just one character to 90. So it's a thing they have already done, just benefits people who have a few 90's and didn't want to level another class through all of the content again. Some people have done it 6 or 7 times. Even for me doing the content twice was enough.
Its only one character per account similar to death knight
It depends on whether people really give a shit, sounds more like a progression rep system like in MOP with the Tilers thing at the moment. Most don't care about that.
Of all the things they could have done I think this is one of the most bizzare and frankly stupid. What's the point to this? Where does it fit within the lore at the moment? Is it a time travel thing when there's opportunites to push the story forwards? Is this some response to EQNext? If it is, Blizzard really should just stick to what they know, there's still plenty they can offer for the longterm/lapsed raiders crowd..
This looks like a job for....The Riviera Kid!
And you know this how? Or are you guestimating, like I am, although I'm basing this on recent experiences with wow?
This looks like a job for....The Riviera Kid!
They finally added PLAYER HOUSING....???
*faints*
After 5 years I might actually reinstall this for a test run
Boost to 90 and play instantly + New World PvP zone = GW2
I fixed it for ya'
They saw SOE implement Heroic lvl85 characters.
So now Blizzards comes With something similar for WoW. Instant lvl90 chars.
Let's see how much they gonna charge for those. SOE charges 3500 SC.
I quit WOW because of MoP and he same 'ole "Quest, Quest, Quest, Grind Heroics, Grind Dailies, Quest, Quest, Quest" model.
It looks like WoD will introduce the same thing. Granted, you can't really expect the game to go from hard-core themepark with crappy ass "Collect X, Kill Y, Escort Z" quests, but it would be nice to see a "newer" mechanic such as dynamic events and other ways to level besides questing.
Raquelis in various games
Played: Everything
Playing: Nioh 2, Civ6
Wants: The World
Anticipating: Everquest Next Crowfall, Pantheon, Elden Ring
please tell everything you know about this player housing feature, sounds very exciting
Except something called a "heroic charecter boosted instantly to a high level" has existed in wow since 2008. And these things dont cost money (in addition to the sub fee).
Try harder.
