Open beta confirmed for December 2013

Announced at Blizzcon, open beta is coming before the end of 2013.

Time to opt in if you have not already.

Opting in for an open beta doesn't make sense, you'll just be able to download the client through Battle.net and play. Also it might be January as the guy on stage said himself.

Looking more and more like blizzard will miss there end of 2013 window they hoped for.  

I was also hoping they would announce tournament play but they did hint at a new ranked play... so.......

Yeah, annoying really, they came out saying "next month" and then went back on it the next day.

Opting in does make sense, if open beta is near they will sometimes send out a boatload of beta keys to help stagger the introduction of additional players.

I was more interested in the adventure pve mode, that sounds like fun.

They already have the AI working but have not developed any use for it apart from unlocking the heroes.

Adventure mode seems like an obvious extension to the current game.

If it works anythijng like the old Microprose version of Magic it could be a lot of fun.

The current AI has little actual "I" though currently, it makes silly plays all the time.

the MTG 2012/13/14 AI was actually really good, hope they can emulate this.

I don't remember MTG really having custom DECKS though.  It was always a preselected thing with a couple of cards that you could switch in.  This is far harder.

And the AI is dumb, but have you tried Expert?  It's quite a bit more difficult.  Besides, if you want challenge, go play a player ;-)

I played expert to complete the achievement and get the free gold, I found it a bit too easy to be honest, won every game. The AI almost had me a few times but it's easily tricked into making mistakes.

Typical. For 3 months straight you see the same card bug appearing in beta. 

Rob Pardo announced with a straight face their port to iPhones and Android platforms will not be released before the end of next year...

Blizzard must be the most laid back game publisher in history when you need 12 months to do a port from iPad to iPhone...of a rather simple card game.

Let's face it: this game should have been released by now or at least have open beta.

And ... Pardo said he "hoped" for a 2013 open beta but he "could not assure 100%"

Ridiculous. I cringed when I heard Heroes of the Storm is still in alpha. So that's mid 2015 already. By that time everyone will be playing Destiny2 already.

  • Aratil briefly discussed the open beta, and explained how delays have already pushed the open beta back. The team is still looking forward to open beta next month, but it isn't set in stone.
  • Zeriyah discussed how they use player feedback to help shape the game, but at the same time, they're very careful with changes they do make.

I would like to see some Two Headed Giant play. That would be reaaaalllyy fun.
