Amazon.com and Amazon.ca are both out of stock, and are continuing to take orders. I have no Idea what the OP is talking about. Easy for this to be fact checked. Dissapointed mr OP for the terrible thread you started.
Amazon is not suppressing any sales of the PS4. They are completely out of stock and have more on the way.
Edit: Just for fun I did a bit of investigation on these 1-star vs 5-star reviews. Looking at the peoples review history of the 1-star vs 5-star, over 99% of the 1-star reviewers have only did this review of that specific account. While the 5-star reviews over 60% have made reviews both positive and negative on other products from amazon.
Not sure if it means people have created accounts to just make negative reviews, or by coincidence these are all new amazon.com shoppers or just shoppers that have never given a review of any other product they purchased. But by going on the 5-star reviewers, it's just a little funny that more then half of those have reviewed other products.
Edit 2: No gaming news websites are reporting on this either. Which you would expect them to do. So far in my opinion, the failure rate may be exaggerated until some real evidence is displayed.
I do not know if what you claim is true or not but wouldnt it only be natural that the Launch edition can not be sold anymore since it was like Xbox Day one edition and once they were sold out they would not come back?
I do think its somewhat suspicious that no PS4 console at all can be preordered right now but i still think its only normal that the Launch edition would not be for sale after the launch anymore.
Edit. I just saw that you can not order a Xbox1 anymore either over Amazon so what does that mean did Microsoft tell Amazon in advance to stop selling there console expecting trouble?
I picked up my PS4 friday morning from best buy and its not given me any issues, i noticed some lag in the menus and a few weird artifacts in killzone but i think those are all software issues and there's no hardware defects, although if something does happen hopefully it does within my warranty period.
There is a weird pop/snap/crack sound whenever i turn off the system but i think thats the power supply inside that is the cause and its normal since i've turned it on and off perfectly fine on numerous occasions. So far having a lot of fun with it, Killzone is great, and Resogun is ADDICTING!

I think a lot of people who bought it at amazon are having most of the issues but they also said that a lot of players are having bad frame rate issues with killzone and knack.

Not unless they were expecting and prepared for some launch issues. Which they were like any smart developer.
And the number of complaints has not even been very high (like 0.4 percent of all units shipped), especially if you compare it to what MS went through with the 360s red ring of death. Hell my 360 stopped working after the disk drive stopped working all of a sudden and my PS3 is still kickin to this date and still coming out with triple A exclusives.

I did notice the frame rate issue in killzone, certain times i definitely felt it go into the 20s if not lower especially in really heated situations where a lot was happening, the game is plenty playable though and tends to hold its 30fps in singleplayer pretty well, i haven't tried multiplayer just yet though.
Idk if the framerate issue has to deal with the game itself and how its optimized or there being a problem with the hardware, i think its probably the former though. Being that its a release title and the developers haven't had the time to come to grips with the hardware entirely is probably a valid reason for the choppy frames. Future games will be better im sure performance wise

If SoE is testing Planetside 2 on PS4 claiming its running on max settings of the PC and that game is a sandbox mmo with much more larger battles, than what killzone is going through is because of the developers lack of optimization because of being on time as a launch title.

If it helps you feel better than, minus the sandbox from my comment, my point still stands since sandbox or not the game still requires way more power than killzone shadow fall

I do not know how do you guys burned your xboxes. I have one at home, from the "faulty" generation for about 3 years at home now, playing daily for few hours. I also have a falcon at the office, staying strong for about 2 years now, playing daily on it as well. And not just me.
On the topic, that's what Sony gets for rushing to release first.

You're a little late with white knighting the rrod. that ship sailed like 7 years ago.
A friend brought a pre ordered ps4 and he noticed on connecting it up that the ports seem to be very cheap versions and that if you are not careful they will get damaged very easy. I hope that in the war to out price the xbox they havent resorted to putting cheap parts in them. My friend is a computer tech so he knows what he is talking about and because he was careful with his connections he has had no problems except some graphic lag.
Originally posted by ThomasN7 You think Sony can recover from this ? Bad enough they are operating at a loss as it is. They certainly can't afford to have this going on for long.
The loss on each PS4 is in the range of $50 to $60.
So, Sony is not in the dire straits you wish them to be.
There is always some moron making moron decisions to cut corners.
People handle consoles like they are a peripherals to a computer but not delicate computer parts. So they need to be built with sturdy parts, especially when retailing out of Japan.
Also if the PS4 has over heating problems its becuase again they are morons. They made the PS4 so small, when they could easily made it larger and people would not care. No one wants to buy a console compared to another because one is slightly smaller than the other. If anything, when they try to make it as small as possible, its as if they are trying to justify the fact that its so weak in terms of raw power to a PC.
People know consoles are weak. Console developers, do not need to hide it with their shoddy presentation of smaller packages which make them more unreliable.
Someone like Valve should focus on making the Steam OS for PC's to run video games better. It will put an end to consoles when PCs become consoles with the right OS in the PC. Also consoles are way behind PCs which means that games developed cross platform are holding back the PC and the best that it can offer.

Originally posted by Drakynn Sounds like a typical console launch to me and I'll wait and see if the problems are as wide spread as the Xbox 360 red rings of death before bothering to give the PS4's problems a name.
As for the launch lineup...Xbox ones will be a bit stronger only if Dead Rising 3 turns out to be a killer app otherwise it's just as lack luster IMO.He only consoles that launched with great game lineups that I remember were the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube and that didn't help Nintendo in the long run.
I'm more interested to see where the consoles are at this time next year.
The warranty provider Square Trade estimated the 360's failure rate at 23.7%. It doesn't seem like the PS4 is failing at that rate. If the idea is to compare the two of them, the PS4 is definitely the winner as of right now.
I figured I would bring my cans of light fluid over here and chime in! (j/k) I have been running my non-stop since ~2 pm EST Friday either in games, Netflix, PSN (when its up), or in standby mode with no issues yet. I replaced the hard drive before even booting it up, and checked all the ports as well. Mine is running really cool compared to my two gaming laptops (comparing since its architecture is more akin to a laptop). I can't comment on the difference in hard drive (Someone elsewhere did that), I went with the 1 TB sshd that most sites are recommending. The games load fairly quick and look great!
The chat service, at least with the free headset, is meh, less quality than Skype, but functional. The system does have that weird wobble we see due to the placement of some rubber boot in the middle. I put it on a vertical stand. The system is quiet and cool.
I like the new DS4 controller, weightier than previous models and the touchpad offers a nice touch. THe second screen option with my ipad honestly is way more functional than the one on my Wii-U. It helps keep me in the game with AC4. The camera is grainey. I like the small size and mount, but on my 40" LED tv it is pretty low quality, and aiming it with non traditional setups (like mine where the tv is not in front of the couch) can be a bit of a pain. I would likely have skipped the camera if it came down to it or another game/controller. THe controller seems to last 8-10 hours of constant play for me before it popped a thing on screen asking to charge it up (couldn't get it exactly down since I was lost on the seas!).
Any who. I really enjoy it so far, and hope everyone gets theirs working, but out of my five mates and I, we all have operating systems and have been enjoying the online features when they are up!
Cheers!
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S

I'm not white knighting anything. I'm merely stating that people shouldn't be so incompetent with fragile piece of tech. It's a console, not a soccer ball or a frying pan. It's super easy to prevent the X360 from overheating, even though they didn't put sensors in it (stupid yep).
