Questions about SWTOR

Hi, so i was thinking about trying out SWTOR and i was wondering a couple things that hopefully y'all may have answers for:

1)  how many GBs does it take up?

2) Is same gender romance for your companions finally an option yet? (i know that the hutt update added it with a f/f for the republic and a m/m for the sith on one planet, but i couldnt find any information about anything else)

3) how many characters can you have now that it is f2p? and can they be on both sides?

thank you for your time!

    1. 20-25 Gbs

    2. Only in specific areas/npcs in the new expac, iirc. They didn't go back and add the options to the core game.

    3. IIRC, 2, but you could make multiple accounts if needed.

#1 advise, don't play this game if you plan on being a F2P player. The game will be so restricted that it's not worth your time at all.

At the very least, pay $5 and get preferred status.  It will open up at least a bit more of the restrictions.  The best bet is to just spend $15 and enjoy the full game with 0 restrictions.

Frostvein was almost right about no. 2 , all new content since the expac has same gender romances , the CZ-198 quest line has it , quite small but it's there and the new big moon Oricon has it too.

    Cheers,

    BadOrb.

Just an addition to what was said about point 3. You start off with 2 character slots per server which can be used for characters of any faction (i.e. your account is not faction locked). As a f2p player the only real restriction you will have on initial character creation is the narrow choice of races, however you can buy species unlocks from other players as well as additional character slots.

A lot of people make a fuss about f2p restrictions, and it may feel a bit slow for the first few planets (if you group up with subs), but the truth of the matter is that a lot of players are able to hit level 50 without a problem as f2p. When you get custom shells (orange gear pieces which can be modified by ctrl + right clicking them), use your planetary commendations to get the highest level blue modifications you can get from the different modifications planetary commendations vendors on fleet in supplies (you can access any planet vendor there, but only buy items for your level or below). Try to buy extra toolbar unlocks from the GTN (1-2 should be more than enough) and expand inventory carefully. Once you get to the level 24+ range, you should be making enough credits that you're hitting credit cap easily and having a lot of funds in escrow. At that point you should consider unlocks such as storage access and eventually additional storage bays. Don't buy any escrow transfers till you have upwards of 650-700k in escrow, and don't bother going for the artifact equipment unlock till you hit level 49-50.

The core game only lasts till level 50. The expansion was only made free to subscribers recently and is still a purchasable for others. It features an increased level cap as well as story access to a few new planets. I'd recommend holding off on purchase till you play enough of the game to know it's for you. There is still enough content at level 50 that can be enjoyed for free whether PvE or PvP.

Hope that helps, and welcome to the game :)

Some people think trading in the shotgun for the BFG2000 makes the game easier. It just allows you to enter a higher difficulty level.
