Today marks the start of the Open Beta for Blade & Soul in China (first country to launch). The game opened with 120(!) servers, all of them with long queues. Wow.

(yes, 120 is a big number even in a vast country as China)

About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

It is a themepark. But not just "another", that's the whole point of the news article.
I am sure there are enough people who appreciate the news. Too bad you had to come up with a reply like this.

I have seen images and videos but is this game as boring as Tera?
In Tera, every enemy after a few levels had the same attacks. Like literally the same attacks, i am not even exaggerating here. Anyone can clarify this for me? Is there a problem like this in B&S?
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
SWTOR had tons of tiny servers at launch. I am expecting the same here. You can not possibly buy 120 Mega-servers for a F2P game.
10/10 comment. Where would be without comments such as these...
So can someone who likes western MMOs give me a lowdown on what's "teh shit" about Blade & Soul. According to all information and media I've seen it looks exactly like all the other Korean MMOs since Lineage.
So far I'm finding it quite fun. It is a theme-park. It basically feels like Tera done right. The classes feel fresh and unique, combat is fun, the environments and character models are quite nice. The character customization is some of the best if not the best I have ever seen. It's also very optimized, it runs flawlessly if you have a decent rig. I don't know, if you are bored and enjoy these types of games (the dreaded eastern games) give it a shot. Cruise over to BnS Dojo for install guides etc. The language barrier can be a little frustrating but if you pick one of the English heavy servers there are plenty of players to help you.
Just a warning, if you are not VIP the queues are HUGE right now. The good thing, though, is that since the VIp supscription option only costs about 1.50$ usd. China!
No you pretty much nailed it.
All fair, but "massive initial interest" would be a very boring title also something that will take a while to dissapear since every server has a crazy queue.
Like another poster said, it feels like an action oriented themepark done right. The last part is something that is very rare. Let's hope it stays that way because we all know how much it can take to alienate a playerbase.

1981 called, they want their cheesy tough guy name back.
Blade and Soul ArrrRRrrrr
you don't have to...F2P, when it comes out just try it and you are the one who can tell enjoy it or not.
for my case, i like the style and what able to know from game videos(combo system...etc.)
This really isn't true. TERA has the most diverse animations and attacks for mobs of any themepark I've played.
Not sure why you put "weird" in front of Asian themed player races and monsters
Every game has a bazillion flashy colouful effects in combat
Every game has no clothes on female characters
You actually got the male character one right.
And every game has oversized weapons.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Aion, Tera & Lineage 2 all rather popular in the west aswell.
The biggest issue is that when a game comes from east to west it gets effed up by this "WESTERNIZATION PROCESS" and we end up with game that's core is broken and ends up being something completely different from the original version.
Also because of the "WESTERNIZATION" the content patches come 6 months late to the west causing the game to get more content even slower.
18million users with 2 million concurrent at launch are crazy numbers by any margin. It would be foolish NOT to bring this game to west.
