Fun Eldevin Facts

Hey everyone, We've been posting these on Facebook so I should probably post them here too. These are some facts about Eldevin and its development for you to enjoy :)

1. Development

Eldevin has been in development for a little longer than Hunted Cow has been running as a company. Cowboy ( Lead Developer ) began writing the 3D engine in 2002. Since then he has built all the tools and systems the team has needed to make Eldevin what it is today. Official Eldevin development began in 2005, when the company hired Xero as the first dedicated Eldevin employee, who later became lead artist. For the past few years Eldevin has had a team size of between 10 and 15 people working on it. Although it's a really small team size for this type of project, we think we've pulled it off quite well.

2. All The Code

There are approximately 1.5 million lines of code which make the Eldevin engine, server and client work. To put this into perspective there are about 110 thousand lines of text in the entire series of Harry Potter books. Oh and that doesn't include all our quest text and character dialogue, which is stored in our project files.

3. Size Of The World

The world of Eldevin is a massive place. Over the years we've built 163 realms for players to explore, covering over 3 million tiles. Within these realms are almost 400,000 placed objects, which could be anything from castle walls to trees and rocks.
To bring this world to life we've so far filled it with over 1000 quests to complete and hundreds of different creatures to battle. There's always something new to discover in the world of Eldevin!

Their intentions to clean up the code or do a re-write has been suspended to the year 2034.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
