I like the game so do not consider this a rant also it is just my opinion so no need to get defensive!
When you have 9 level 80 chars and find crafting pointless because the high level materials, ancient wood in particular, are that rare that it would take years to get it any other way than to but it through the trade shop. The pve system is boring once you have 100% map completion. pvp sucks and wvw comes down to who has the largest zerg. The living story is mostly a waste of time due to being stuck on the wrong server with not a large enough player base to make a zerg to deal with the over powered bosses. Personal story should be soloable but higher levels are not!
So, what do you do when there is nothing left!

So you have 9 level 80 characters but you don't know how to guest another server. Well...
Of course I know how to guest on other servers, my point is that it should not be necessary to always guest play on other servers in order to be able to play!
Stop playing the game so damn much. Make a schedule where you go outside minus work for atleast 2-3 hours a day and get atleast 9 hours of sleep.
Good idea, but I already spend 1 & 1/2 hours a day in the gym!
You make me like charity
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
Some people look for that "a game I can play forever" experience. They play only one MMO and they want to keep playing that one MMO. I think a lot of the older MMOs were more suited to this. Something like SWG, where there was always something to do like crafting or decorating your house, and people were always having community events. Ones that provided a less linear experience than WoW or GW2. ANET is trying to fix that with their biweekly updates, but it really doesn't work for a lot of people. I think modern games are too focused on combat and don't provide enough support to non-combat games. Their overly simplified crafting mechanics, lack of a decent server market, and social content don't help.

There's something new added every two weeks. Wintersday is coming back shortly as well (one of my favorite jumping puzzles included).
Crafting is hardly obsolete, as now the armor crafts can be leveled to 500 for crafting ascended armors. If you need ancient wood don't forget about salvaging... I get more from salvaging than from gathering. High level whites can even give you that.
WvW is an absolute blast when you're with an organized WvW guild... give that a try if you're interested. It's nice seeing enemy blobs as sources of bags instead of something to run from.

It would appear so.
Stop eating all those donuts so you won't have to spend all that time in the gym! Just kidding. Simply sounds like the game ran it's course with what you like to do. Games do indeed run their course believe it or not. Like others said, I would just take a break from it and remember the fun you had in it. If anything, you could always log back in 6 months to year or more when you get that itch and start playing again with out giving Anet your CC info ever again or having to set-up another money grabbing sub.

now: GW2 (11 80s).
Dark Souls 2.
future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
"Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
I only tried this a few times, so not very high.
I kept stepping on traps that would kill me instantly, so more or less gave up on the idea.
I do have better gear (still not the top shelf stuff) now so may have to take another look at it.
What was that... the swamp fractal? Yeah, that can be a pain if you're not careful. You do need to watch your step in that phase.
I did some Fractals last night, first time in awhile, and had a blast. Managed to get two new ones on the run (boss was Maw) and let me tell you, for the first time they were rather challenging getting the mechanics down. The final reactor boss was a lot of fun, the group (LFG pug) wiped fairly early but I managed to solo the boss to about 10% the first try, then the second try the group was down at about 50% and I managed to solo the boss to death. Helpful hint: MOVE! If you have a spell that makes you stop moving, don't use it. (That worked for me.) I think, if you enjoy the combat, you'll like it. You really need to be aware of all the effects your skills have and use them. On my mesmer, casting a null field where I'm running to was helpful, as was a few will timed Feedbacks. I also got a newfound respect for the golem elites Asura have.

The way the game's design was supposed to work was that Arenanet would constantly add new Dynamic Events to all zones across the game world. Some advancing the story told by previous events, others bringing something completely fresh to the world. Colin teased last fall that we might see the number of DEs double or even triple in 2013, with so many that some would have to be rotated in and out of the game.
If they had actually done this, then you would have been able to return to zones you had last played months before and found something new. the world would have had an illusion of an ever evolving setting and exploration of new content would be the incentive to keep playing.
They also had promised that high level characters doing lower level zones via level scaling would find their time almost as rewarding as doing zone's of their level. This would have meant that as you leveled you just increased how much of the game world would be viable content for your character.
26+ ever evolving game zones, where you could always find something you hadn't experienced before, would have provided a viable alternative to the vapid "end game" content so many MMOs rely on to maintain players. In GW2, the entire game was supposed to be end game.
Unfortunately, 2013 Arenanet doesn't seem to comprehend the game that pre-launch Arenanet created and have treated ongoing development as if GW2 was just another WoW clone.

With 9 lvl 80s, it's time to take a break, play less, and find something else to do. I only have one 80, and many alts. I stopped playing for months, but started again several days ago, and i'm having fun again.
