We're building a world together, and we'll be there if you ever want to stop by and say hi.

I suggest you read some actual information, or else go eat a bag of silver serpents.

$45 is a nice price for pre-ordering a game and getting alpha/beta testing.

$150 is a great price for 10 years of gaming (the level of pledge where you get all 5 planned expansions)

Or just wait and buy the game when it comes out for $40 or $60 bucks or whatever list price is. But don't knock it til you try it - you'll be surprised at what we have to offer.

Interesting "1" Post, "What we have to offer." Sounds like your part of the RGarriot team working on this project, probably not a great idea to call people "Mouth Breathers" with prospective customers reading these forums.

Either way I have donated 100+ into this kickstarter and am pretty sad after reading that.

However, the foundations are looking good and over the next few months will be looking foward to seeing "great things" that are planned for this game to get added.

Someone has been lurking since 2007, rgarriot, signup 2007, first post.

For me this is a happy day, after reading all the bitching I've come to a realisation...... only like minded people will be playing this game, and the journey will be epic, can't wait!

This for me will be the UOX that we should have had, with the right guy at the head of it, and what's even better for me is....... no E.A.

Well  Mr. Garriott since your developers don't know the difference between a bladed axe and a hammer I'd say that's a pretty bad sign for your game. An axe is bladed school not bludgeon.

If the most pressing issue for you right now is the possible miscategorization of a weapon, then either Shroud of the Avatar is frackin amazing so far or your priorities are a bit left of center. :)

I mean, you have the attention of Richard Garriott, the highest ranking person that can affect a change, and THAT is what you chose to use your moment to relay.

Except it wasn't an accident. In the beginning they had it correct and listed an axe with the bladed weapons. They let some moron using half-baked logic convince them it was a blunt weapon. And it's one of the very few things I don't appreciate about the game.

Well, if you're interested in realism, axes are categorized with hammers and clubs as "Blunt or Cleaving Weapons". I haven't read all of this but presumably there's some sort of "realism" argument going on here. In the real world bladed weapons do not include axes. Axes to their work by using mass, not a cutting edge. Swords and daggers do their work with a cutting edge or a Stabby McStabberson point.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

The Card-based combat is mostly luck-based, awkward, and unless changed will be a colossal flop in my eyes. The skill system, unlike UO, does not train skills based on their associated actions.

Overall very disappointed. It's not even about the relatively small chunk of money I put into this (explorer-level).

Exactly. I lost my interest long ago, shortly after the announcement.

Just a look at the funding page will make everything so clear.

Oh here we go again with the "you don't understand" thing.  Ya we all know what crowd funding is, we also know when its not being managed properly.  There is no excuse good enough for how they are handling it, so stop trying to make them up.

You know what I like about the MMO community here? They're well informed. They know MMOs and they know when something is genuine and when it's not. And unlike official SotA forums, you won't find many here who would be willing to follow Mr. Garriott down a cliff.

That being said, it's no coincidence that SotA ranks close to the bottom of the "in development" hypemeter, below even Prison Tale II: 2nd enigma (which I haven't even heard of). And it's no surprise that the fundraising pales in comparison to something like Star Citizen, which attracts scores of new backers each day.

Right now, I can't tell you how much I wish I could shift my funds in SotA to something like Camelot Unchained. At least THOSE devs give me the full game upfront. Can't believe I fell for this scheme.

And by the way, it's a little funny to see some of those 1-posters who either hopped over from the official SotA forums or have a thousand-dollar stake to defend.

Autobot or no, no monthly fee is good to hear. :-)

How is that good?  Give me a subscription option any day in the week instead of being harassed into constantly buying from the item shop.

When are people going to realize that these so called f2p games are far more expensive than a normal sub game when you get down to it if you don't want to run around in rags.

I had to send their constant item shop advertising to the spam folder.

To say I am disappointed Richard is an understatement.

Definitely checking out SotA once it comes out. A bit skeptic about the limited housing space (housing prices before Trammel in UO on popular shards were pretty ridiculous) and how the multiplayer aspect of the game will work in practice, but nevertheless any MMO(ish) game that has a focus somewhere else than basic WoW cloning themepark crap has my attention.

If that's your point, there's a lot more promising games out there, even more in development.

It's not like 5 years ago when everything is a WOW-clone.

Unfortunately the ones I've found are either fully PvP focused or poorly implemented. Do you have any recommendations of games that are actually out right now? I'm currently watching ArcheAge and Everquest Next (Landmark). TESO and Wildstar don't really interest me much.
