War, war never changes...
From the very beginning of human history, wars were waged amongst the upstart homosapien species. The first men fought with sticks and stones over food, women and shelter. Ancient empires fought over the land, wealth and prestige. Modern states fought over economic, religious or ideological differnces. But the war itself... well, war never changes. In the 21st century wars were still waged over what was left of the planet's non-replenishable resources, mainly petroleum and uranium. A series of relatively small conflicts, led to the 23rd of October 2077, later known as The Great War. While the nuclear exchange between the world's superpowers lasted only a few hours, the consequences were catastrophic. Almost all traces of civilization on earth were extinguished with flashes of atomic blasts. Those who survived first days, later mostly succumbed to radiation, disease, famine and the ensuing social breakdown. Then, the planet Earth became quiet for a long time.
Those few who survived, were mainly two cases: the ones living in very remote areas, far from the dead, heavily irradiated cities, or the inhabitants of the underground Vaults. The future of the Wasteland was to be shaped by one particular denizen of those Vaults, known later only as the Vault Dweller. His initial quest to find a replacement for a failing water-chip, finally led him to a confrontation with the being known as Master, who was gathering an army of mutated creatures to fulfill his dream of unity between all humans. And, while the Vault Dweller managed to defeat the Master, his wounds were grievious, and so he died shortly thereafter.
Thus, while the mutant army lost its leader, the infamous Lietuant, Master's second in-command stepped in his place and took over his legacy. But, other powers are also bent on uniting the Wasteland under their banner; The Brotherhood of Steel, an military order dedicated to preservation and reclamation of lost technology, The Enclave, claiming to be the legal succesor of the United States' government, and the young New California Republic, founded by survivors from two neighbouring Vaults.
The year is 2237. You wake up in a tent in the desert. Your adventure begins...

I can predict the future! I forsee a possible forum ban cease & desist order from Bethesda in the OP's...
1. The legality of the project is questionable at best
2. While I'm not entirely against such projects, especially taking into consideration that the IP holder turned it into TES with guns (thank GOD for Wasteland 2), bringing attention to it by posting on a major site such as this is the surest way to get it shut down.
3. Facebook game? Eww. Come back when it's a real game, and not an extension of the cancer infesting society known as social media.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

You would be wrong on all points!
1) It's not illegal, or even questionable.
2) The actual project has been running for years. It started as FOnline 2238. This is not the first post about it, nor will it be the last.
3) It's not a Facebook game. They've written their own client, but originally it required a purchase of Fallout 2.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
So they've got permission from the copyright holder? Interesting. I stand corrected. Of course, it's non-profit, so perhaps that's how they get around things.
I saw the Facebook link and assumed it was an FB game. My bad. In my defense, it does kind of look like one though.
Perhaps I shall give it a try then.

You must be blind.
1. Defininately cease and desist worthy.
2. Just because its been "Running" for years doesnt mean its any less illegal.
3. "Written their own client" That right there is athe nail in the coffen. They built their own client and implemented fallout/fallout 2 code, thats copyright violation written all over it. Excuse the pun.
Just browsed over to GOG.com. Apparently Bethesda has failed to renew their rights to sell DRM-free copies of the game, and had all Fallout related games pulled from the site. A big fat 'fuck you' to you as well, Bethesda.
I really don't see how such a greedy company would suffer the continued existence of this project.

Bethesda was not at fault. Interplay held the rights to the game up until Dec 31st. Now that those rights has passed to bethesda, GoG.com no longer has the rights to sell those games until a new agreement is met between GoG.com and bethesda.
I actually own all three games. It's still a d*ck move though, and since Bethesda is in bed with Steam, I highly doubt we'll see their return any time soon.

Again. Bethesda, didnt do anything. There was do dicking to be done. The rights to Fallout/Fallout2/Fallout Tactics have simply passed from one company to another.
i still have them in my account

Nope, nope and nope.

Simply saying nope on all points doesnt justify what they do. Keep saying nope, until you give a well thought out and good reason to any of our points, then nope is not gonna get you anywhere.
Bethesda: You stole our stuff, were taking you to court.
lizardbones: Nope.
Bethesda: Oh ok then, have a good day.

And yet the game keeps running, people can keep downloading it and can keep playing it. Must be a miracle or something.
