GW2 has skills that you have to use to be able to block while in ESO you just press RMB hold it in until your endurance runs out, more points in endurance longer you can active block.
GW2 blocks are skilled tied and are on cooldowns so that means GW2 dont have active block ESO does.

Yes, mate, we get that Movies aren't the same as video games.
But we were talking about video game mechanics.

Last time I checked they require an active action by the user. Not only that timing is essential for it to catch anything useful.
Of course active blocks are only one aspect of GW2 active defense - dodges is another.
I don't see where is the difficulty in understanding what active and passive in the context of games mean.
Autoattack is a passive attack, while other attacks require an action by the player and so are active.
Dodging and blocking in WoW are passive, generated by the stats and game formulas.
In GW2 dodging and blocking are active since they need to be activated by the player.
ESO focus loads of its combat in blocking. Fine. That doesn't mean it is the only active blocking.

okay, lets remove all the locusts from the game

lets see how long the game can last , with that kind of money

ill say is kinda grind in sertain point depend what you want (like all mmo games) grind mob ,grond quest ETC.
now P2W=no
P2 look better or (cosmetic) yes,if something dosnt give you advantage is not p2w simple as that.
Ascended gear is a grind, but not a particularly bad grind in comparison to other games. Having the best looking armor in the gem shop is annoying but definitely does not count as pay to win.
I am a little tired of Scarlet thou. I am ready for them to kill her off. However, if Trahearne steps in and takes credit again, I will break my keyboard.

Yes, you lose about 5% and/or weeks of grinding.
BIS stands for best in slot. The best gear is incredibly grindy to obtain in-game but is for sale for real money.
Good luck equipping alts!
Please someone tell me this isn't true? You can't actually buy the best gear in the game with real money can you? By my definition that is exactly what people mean with the term pay 2 win. With the increasing popularity of f2p games, I always wondered how they managed to earn enough money to keep a steady stream of new content coming and would always remember that GW2 managed it. If you really can buy the best gear for real money then whatever faith I had in f2p/b2p working will have pretty much vanished.

Short answer:No.
Long answer.
What you can do is buy gems that can be converted into in game money.
You can buy legendary weapons from other players via the Trading Post but they cost something like $750 worth of gem purchases (3000 in game gold) for the more popular weapons (stuff like underwater weapons and torches sell for like a third). Someone had to make the legendary weapon though (the less attractive legendary weapons are still made because they need precursors and that is a random drop).
Ascended armor and ascended weapons can't be sold in the Trading post, but some of the materials required are, so I guess you can finance part of it with real world money (but again someone had to make those ascended materials).
And Gems<-----> Gold exchange is determined by gem purchases with real money and gem purchases with in game money.
Making a Legendary weapon or converting in game money into gems is a good protection against in game inflation.

So what you're saying is that ESO has an actual block command as opposed to using skills that block as in GW2. OK, whatever, two different combat systems should have things that are different. I know on my mesmer when using a scepter I have a block skill that will block an attack, teleport me to a different spot around the enemy and leave a clone near where I was when the attack was blocked and personally I find that a bit more engaging than simply blocking while a bar winds down, but not everyone will agree.
I'd think an active block as described would be a drag on combat, slowing it down quite a bit as opposed to the active skill based combat in GW2 where mitigation is more than hitting the block button.
I'm not bothered with legendary. Because that's purely cosmetic.
Ascended gear does take some effort though. I'm not bothered by it that much since the stats difference isn't that large.
wvw player probably take the most hit, since pvp players are usually more competitive so they want balance play. Pve is easy enough you dno't really need ascended gear.
Op is making a post that is almost all incorrect. For one Ascended Weapons/Armor is not grindy. In fact you can get almost all of it in a months time. I made guides on that and how exactly easy it is. Legendary weapons on the other hand like it's name isn't easy.
And I don't expect it to be either. All I'm saying is do a little bit more research on things before you call the whole game grindy. Only time sink in GW2 is the Legendary system. Everything else can be done really fast if you know how.
I'm a fan of the prerelease GW2, the one that Colin Johanson told us so much about, the game that never came to be.
I believed Colin when he said he wanted to make a game that wasn't grindy.
I believed Colin when he said he wanted to make a game that wasn't pay to win.
It was a lie. GW2 is grindy. GW2 is pay to win.
Legendary Weapons are BIS. Ascended armor and accessories are BIS. Legendary and Ascended have ridiculous material lists and are time gated... unless you buy the required mats from the TP.
How might one go about obtaining gold to purchase said implements of end-game destruction you might ask? Well hero, one easy way is to purchase gems with real money and then convert them to gold. (Hence forth known as PAY TO WIN.)
We were told that the gear in GW2 would be fluff, cosmetic, without power creep. We were lied to.
I am sorry that I spoke out for this game and its developers. I am sorry that I may have misled people by repeating the lies I was told. I promised that if I were wrong I'd return and say as much and here I am. I was wrong. Gw2 is in fact grindy and pay to win.
I can't name not one MMORPG that doesn't have any grindy elements in it and doubt I will ever be able to ever after my life is over.
I can't help someone who puts their mind in a state to where they don't understand nor want know what P2W truthfully is...I simply can't and shall never try, I may throw some common sense here and there hoping someone who doesn't have too much pride or a desire to understand why GW2 is not P2W.
Your entitled to your opinion, but please if your that upset give an good opinion, I mean if your going to give a pathetic yet at least a very subjective opinion at least say "GW2 is not an MMORPG it's an MMOAFG."
Join that crowd, I mean yes you'd still be the people who just believe that any MMORPG they don't like because it is not for them is simply not an MMORPG but it's much better than the crowd that shits out GW2 is p2w.

Full ascended armor is 400~ 500 gold 5 % buff to stats weapon 5 % buff when I pvp in WVW or I kill 2 in a 1 vs 2 fight or I get wipeed in 2 hits by a thief. Game has class balance issues but not gear. Plus ascended is gear for people who run Fractals lvl 50 and plan lvl 50 + in PVP it have 0 impact
For example weapon skills has 0.8 or 1 dmg from 1 power ascended weapon gives 5 more power from all set this will be 20 30 + dmg witch is a joke. Full berserk ELEM can wipe u in a lucky combo of 5 k then 5 k and 10 k with daggers in it's about few sec crazy dmg same about full berserk exotic Thief.
Gear has 0 impact on pvp you wont become better if you don't have SKILL witch I think is you're issue other wise i see no reason you QQ about ascended gear here.
Also there is a reason why Ascended gear drop in Fractals because you can pun in them Agony DMG resist with is very important at lvl 50 especially.
People were complaining about the lack of gear progression at "end game" and that exotics were too easy to get.
ANet gives them something to look forward to, ascended gear.
The same people now complain that ascended gear is too hard to get, too grindy.
Conclusion: with some people, you just can't win, and the best thing to do for developers is to ignore them.
I didn't like the ascended gear introduction since in my opinion the game requires no grind for stats and playing to obtain cosmetic improvements is all it needs.
But I have to say that ascended weapons and ascended armor had a nice impact in crafting, making low tier materials actually worth something by using them to obtain ascended.
Hopefully Anet also allows trinkets to be craft by jewelry (there is already a spot for Xunlai Electrum Ingot).
So, even if one doesn't want to grind fro ascended gear, one can make decent profits by selling either the common materials and/pr ascended materials.

It didn't used to be at ALL.
Then they got incredibly greedy after seeing how Blizz made out like bandits.
Blizz killed the RM AH, not for the players, but legal fees, because they were sued to hell and back and it made no sense to keep it ongoing.
GW2 does it, albeit much more covertly. Let's see how long it lasts... if not indefinitely.
It's a big shame though, because the base game is incredible.
