Sorry... I need to read more carefully. You will definitely die afk in RotMG, and there is permadeath.
Maybe try Kingdom of Loathing

If you have to AFK at less than a moment's notice I wouldn't recommend any. One of the biggest headaches I've had in a multiplayer (massively or otherwise) game is when people AFK with little or no notice. My advice is to play other genres or just focus on your job while you're at work.
Id really like a game with at least a multiplayer element like path of exile...
I can't really play browser game because of the firewall at work but some clients get through. MTGO and POE get through.. runescape and LOL dont... etc

If I was your boss....

First, I'm with those above who's saying maybe that's a better place and time to work instead of playing...
but, if it's a must, and you "I have to afk randomly", go with AFKrpg. seriously. Ok, that's a joke, but still

Remember Old School Ultima Online
Ever played dungeon defenders? It's sort of a mix up of Tower defense, hero leveling like in other online games and gear collecting.
Has tons of content, and if you're in a game alone you can pause whenever you like.
Don't forget to put someone on /follow when u go afk.
