Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
Ignore all these haters. You are correct sir, GW2 is the best MMO out right now. The next best thing is Wildstar, but that isn't out yet, so many are patiently waiting. I am lucky enough to be in the beta so I get to play now
Also, I have played every AAA MMO out there, so I know what I'm talking about.
As far as what to play RIGHT NOW....I am torn, and keep jumping back and forth between TSW, SWTOR, GW2, Neverwinter and TERA just because I am bored....they're all good in their own way (TERA being my least favorite, I am not a fan of Asian MMOs), so it really depends on your personal taste. Luckily, none of them have a monthly sub, so trying them all out shouldn't cost too much...
If it is the best thing, why does it have much less western players as a 9 year old game with a yearly 180 dollars price tag on it ?
You seem to forget that GW2 is beaten up by a 9 year old game costing 180 dollars per year just to play it ...
Why do GW2 developpers say "our game is not "done" yet ? Because it is no longer working as intended for sure.
Silly. As in this case "that other game" costs 180 times more and has more popularity, so GW2 is not considered the "best". In fact it could be labeled the worst since it doesn't even have a subscription status.
A game with closed up zones and loading screens replacing open world travel is hardly worth playing as an MMORPG.
Someone needs a serious brain check I guess. Oh I see I am on mmorpg.com, where everyone prefers the garbage copycats instead of the number one played game with the highest revenue and resources (due to revenue).
im not a GW2 fan, but i recognize numbers and trends that don't agree with my tastes or personal analysis. this is called being an adult.
thank you Captain, i usually count on you for a good tug back to reality in these discussions.

I'm so sick of players saying things like "fact" and "best." Nothing is a fact or the best just because you say it is! It may be your opinion, but in the end that is all it is: Your opinion. People really need to get off their high horses and stop thinking their opinions are fact.
Only a slight hiccup in the mix, but doesnt Eve online actually have more active players than GW2, kind of hard to see how GW2 could be anywhere near the top if its not even able to compete with Eve. Not sure why GW2 is being hyped up again tbh, the game doesn't have an expansion out for sale afaik, and all indications are that the game is still in constant decline, or perhaps that is the point, maybe their trying to turn the decline around by hyping the game up again? if so then i guess things are getting pretty desperate
Now go look at how many stories and articles MMORPG.com publishes about GW2. You'll see that it's almost on a weekly basis, a lot of times more than one story. What I'm getting at, is this doesn't prove anything at all when MMORPG.com advertises the game constantly.
Its player numbers and following are unimpressive against a game you need to pay 180 dollars a year for.
And mmorpg's have changed their viewers on the home page lately. Because frankly having 40 people logged on line in prime time is not a good publicity.
So better have some decent samples.
In fact MMORPG.COM went down with the MMORPG mediocre games they promoted with it.

Even their own designers talked about "we are not done yet".
Pretty pathetic claim for a 1.5 year old game if you ask me.
But as I stated earlier: on twitch you see the following on an hour per hour figure of popular games these days and I can count the numbr of times GW2 getting on that list on one hand.
Meaning the game is dead. Even Diablo 3 has more followers.
Are MMORPG's apart from WOW and EVE "dead"? Not to their loyal fans, but certainly to the masses of video game players ...
As to the games on this site in particular.
MMORPG.COM has Always been a strange duck. It promotes games which hardly are played on other tracking sites and as such it created a comfy old home for the old MMORPG grognards ... until they wake up and look around.

Um that's how we classify colors.
That jacket isn't red, it's just absorbing all the colors in the visible spectrum and reflecting red.
Your eyes aren't blue. They are just absorbing the colors that are not used to make brown and reflecting the ones that do.
Congratulations that is the definition of visible color.

GW2 was never anything and certainly not the next best thing in MMO land.
Too much cutting corners with too few resources to make it even a full fledged world.
No mounts, loading screens everywhere, no open pvp worlds...
No tx, if I want to play a closed zone with loading screens I play other games.
The next one after WoW ?
Nobody knows, nobody cares even except for the 2 dozen fans of the next hyped turd with quests.
I hope the genre leaves the gaming industry and will be replaced with on line games like Destiny. More fun, better playing times hopefully.
Btw, I find GTA even more disgusting, so that's no solution either.

@JL Picard.
Now look and see where GW2 stands on Twitch streamer TV. Nowhere near anything. This for a PvP promoted mmorpg is aweful.
