Razer Vespula Mouse Pad or other Suggestions?

flguy147flguy147 Member UncommonPosts: 507
Hey, i need to buy a new mouse pad soon and was considering the Razer Vespula.  Here is the link:  http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-vespula .  Has anybody used this?  Or is there another mouse pad you can recommend.  Thank you

My thoughts are that mouse pads are generally overpriced, and tacking a recognized name like Razer on them means they can charge even more for a poorly-made product.  At first glance, it looks like it might be good for the $35 price tag.  However, I would still look at reviews to make sure it isn't going to wear out in less than a year or not work well with certain mice.

Yeah, i do like the foam/gel padding ones for the wrist is the thing.  Also that one has 2 different surfaces too so i can choose which one i like best.  To get one with a wrist pad i probably have to pay minimum 15 bucks though i would think even for the cheapest.  But i can find that Razer for 30 bucks but yes i know name brand stuff sometimes tacks on an extra 15% to the price.  So that is also why i asked for any other recommendations.

If it's for your wrist, then it's purely a human comfort thing.  In that case, all that matters is how it feels to you.  See if you can find one in a store and try it out.

If you're hoping for it to make a mouse function better, then unless you're doing something really dumb like using a mouse on a transparent or mirrored surface, the problem is that your current mouse is defective, and a mouse pad won't help with that.

I've been using a Vespula for a while. Picked it up to play Darkfall. Let me say, totally worth the investment. I use the precision side (obviously for precision aiming). Not only does it noticeably help with aim, the gel wrist wrest makes it incredibly comfortable as well. I'm not sure why people hate on Razer so much either. I'm currently using a Naga, the Vespula, and the Nostromo and love them all. The only thing i can mildly complain about is the Razer synapse utility program which functions fine aside from its always online connection...

    Ratpadz. Can't be beat.

I had an older Razer mousepad - the surface wore down and got slick/shiny after about a year and then optical mice would start skipping on it -- on both sides. The only nice thing about it was the aluminium backer that was sandwiched in the middle. I ordered a Ratpad after that, I've had it for ... 4+ years now? - it still looks and feels brand new. The thing is no-frills, but as far as a mouse surface goes I don't think it can be beat.

I don't think that's necessarily true. There's a world of difference in using a mouse on say, unfinished wood versus sanded smooth wood - even though it's the same surface material and the mouse would track equally well on both, they offer different resistance to the mouse feet, and that will make the mouse feel different as you slide it across the surface. The higher you set your mouse sensitivity, the more difference this will make and the more you will notice it.

While they have some nice looking products some of the components or engineering is cheap. Take the naga mouse, I have an original one that developed the "left clicking stopped working problem" and turns out it's just because the "plastic tab" that pushes down on the button gets worn down.

It is something that could easily be fixed or prevented yet they force you to buy a brand new mouse or fix it yourself. Add the synapse thing and well there you have it.  They even make it hard as hell to find the driver for the original naga non synapse version.

As for the mouse clicking problem they could easily sell replacement covers for the naga but oh no.

The guy in this video uses hard wax to fix it but I just made "metal" tab cover (used the aluminum from the neck of a bottle of smirnoff vodka) and glued it to the end of the tab so it wouldn't "wear down" anymore.

All this could be avoided if razer would just sell replacement covers instead  of trying to get you to spend 80+ for a new one for something so stupid.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I use the Vespula myself and find it to be a little short.  A large mouse will take up over half the height plus the wrist pad sometimes gets in the way when you move down.  Besides that the control side works very well.

Make games you want to play.
