My first and favorite memories of the Final Fantasy series was actually with the first game on the old NES. Me and a buddy were living in a rat hole apartment, this was in the early 90's, and it was his system. I nearly finished the game once, then a pal of his came over and "accidentally" erased my saved game.
Undaunted, I tried again. I nearly got to the end when an apartment fire destroyed everything we had (which wasn't much to be honest).
One of these days I'm going to buy an old NES and finish it. I still have fond memories of late nights spent with my FF characters though.
For me, it's back in V when I realized the Jobs system, and how I could explore so much more 'on the fly' the ability to switch my people around as needed ... 5 to 8 were my most enjoyed, but, the Jobs system is my most mind blowing moment.
Never played a Final Fantasy game before, but as soon as I entered the game world I was amazed by the art style, the flashy skills and the posibility to play it with a controller.
Oh man, where to start, when I finally beat the earth boss in FFI on NES. When I got to the moon in FFIV (II on SNES), In FFVI when Kafka destoyed the world, and I thought I was about to beat the game and then Whaaaat! The Casino from FFVII those were awesome.
But the entire time I spend playing FFVII with a great friend from college takes the cake. Thanks for that memory SQUARE & now ENIX.

My favorite memory involving FF XI came when I started to play with a friend I had met from MDA camp. He was a teenage camper confined to a wheel chair due to Muscular Dystrophy and I was a counselor who worked with him. We played together for a few months before his illness progressed to far to allow him to actively play the game, but we kept logging in to hang out in game for a while after that. He loved the game because in the real world he was confined to a wheel chair, but online he could walk.
He was unable to go to camp the next year due to health issues, but we stayed connected by regularly hanging out in game. One thing he always told me was that he would
He died the following year, but I will never forget our time in game.
My favorite moment has to be from Final Fantasy IX, where the main character is part of a group of bandits that stage a play in order to kidnap Princess Garnet. The dueling section was pretty fun to me.
I've never played FFXIV, unfortunately, but I'd like to.
My absolute favorite moment is probably Rinoa and Squall cuddling the Ragnarok, with "Eyes on Me" playing... Tugs at the heartstings every time (or in internet parlance: them feels!).
The first time I played one of the earlier Final Fantasy titles with my then young son. Father-and-son bonding time... priceless! He is now 19, and living in another country, but MMORPG games are still one of the things that keep us together
Played all games in the FF series, except for FF XIV. Always loved the story/gameplay from the series, from the turn based in FF Tactics to the intense combat in FF XII. Man, it was a good time.
Ive gotta say it was just logging into FFXIV: ARR. I was able to play the original "release" of 14, and to put it bluntly, it was a disaster. However, I gave the re-release a try, and was blown away at the work they put into changing things. The graphics are amazing, the UI was completely redone, and combat felt alot smoother.
Beyond that, I love the story. They also did an amazing job guiding the player through the "new player experience", all the way passed the first couple of dungeons. I had never seen content progression so smooth before, and it really taught players not just the basics of their class, but the basics of any MMO. How to interact with objects, get quests, and combat, even dodging, it provided a guide to everything. Add to that the guildhestes, and they even teach players to work together, overcome encounters and eventually how to raid. Its a great teaching tool for new MMO players, although I suspect veterans get tired of the hand holding quickly.
So that was my best experience in FFXIV. Just logging in, being blown away at how they came together, and pieced a disaster into something unique and fresh. Its a real second chance story of success.
In ff7 I spent so much time just doing all the side quests that when I finally went against sephiroth it was nearly a ohko. Revenge is oh so sweet when you've been training so hard that he was easy.
My favorite memory of the Final Fantasy series was the wonder and joy I experienced when Final Fantasy first came out on Nintendo and I played it for who know how many hours straight.
I never knew my girlfriend plays FFXIV until she suddenly PM'd me with "Hey Hunwuv (this is what she calls me), will you marry me?"
Imagine, a girl asking you to marry her that she even purchased the game just to play the game with you. AMAZING.
And yes, I said yes. This game made me and my girlfriend's relationship even stronger since we are far away from each other and the best way to spend quality time is to hunt and train while talking to each other.
I can't say what my favorite experience is, there are too many. One that stands out though is making dinner for the Sultana. I don't mean a 'collect the ingredients and hand them in' quest, I mean you had to use your skills to make it (it was a culinary quest). I've never played a MMO with such great storylines in their crafting quests.

When my dad had played 10+ hours of FF7 (more than any other game) and realized there were more discs.
My dad was even more shocked when FF8 came out saying "I thought it was the "final" fantasy.

We're also going to be married soon.
