    Hmmmm.

This hype feels a lot like the build up to SWTOR, and that's a very average game.

In fact, this game seems to have a lot of SWTOR like mechanics.

    Hmmmmm.

Ya, probably wait for the F2P.

We knew about 2 years ago that it was basically a themepark just like SWTOR but in a fantasy setting , the both games where being created at the same time at one point and in direct competition with each other.

Now SWTOR has 16 advanced classes to play through ( okay some say 8 meaningful ones because of mirroring ) how many has ESO ? SO yeah some players will burn through it and even altaholics will too far quicker than they did in SWTOR.

If I liked fantasy based MMO's still then I would have tried it but I can't bring myself to.

    Cheers,

    BadOrb.

It brings back VERY bad TSW deja vus. The Secret World had the same, story instances, very tough and in half a year or so, I NEVER was able to do them. Had the the exact same experiences here now, and I totally loathe that. A MMo where you can't bring help into a dungeon or instance is just wrong. If that stays I am out.

But anyone who has finished the story can join you. I doubt they are going to make storylines which cannot be completed by anyone in your guild. So there's the support you need.

What I've read about ESO has got me irritated in the same way as Skyrim did (Oblivion shared the problems somewhat, but has a list of its own) - they seem to have forgotten Morrowind completely. That's one of the best RPGs ever made, in that it's totally open, the questlines are interesting, and the locations are unique. Every new TES game gets more watered down, forgetting the intricate, well-crafted lore (that turns 20 years old next month) in favour of catering to the masses with generic storylines and making things generally easy (I could go on forever about why I hate levelled loot/enemies in TES).

    Inventory space!!!!

The inventory system extremely limited.. See your 50/50 items.. I saw a lot of it was crafting stuff.

All the videos I see have problems with their inventories.

There's banks and you can increase your inventory size.. just cos the people in the videos havn't done it doesn't mean it can't be done.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

You are missing something very important though.

The class based stories in SWTOR were very long and provided by Bioware, the actual company known for great story lines. So, even though SWTOR was a horrible MMO, it had great SRPG like class stories. 16 of them.

TESO is not being made by Bethesda, its being made by Zenimax which is why the story known so far by testers is rather bland and boring, and it does not have class based stories even 1/10th what SWTOR has. So, play your whatever in whichever alliance and the only way you are going to see anything remotely different is by playing a whatever, in a different alliance. So, 3 play throughs and you have seen all you need to see.

So, the game doesn't even have SWTORs story longevity, which says a lot because the game has about the same depth as SWTOR.

Bill Thanks  for keeping an open mind and giving a great review!

I know there is good in this game because I love playing it.  It also "Clicked" for me also after a few lvl's and I relized ESO does some thing VERY well and it really feels like the ES game I wanted.

Frankly I was getting bummed out that I see so much good in this game and everyone else is on the hate bandwagon, good on you bro.

BTW glad to see some Kajiit footage,  Razum-dar is my fav npc so far and the AD is looking really good :)

That's what worries me most about this game, is the combat, it looks almost as bad if not worse then FF14 , and since combat is what you do 90% of the time ...........seems kind of like a boring game.

I agree with your bad stuff, I agree with your good stuff.

I don't agree with your middle good stuff. And that's all I can really say without breaking NDA.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

    [mod edit]

Not sure why you are saying that, he didn't say only the press can play beta, he said only the press can TALK ABOUT BETA who can be bought easily (no I am not saying Bill has been bought) and that its wrong to only allow those few to speak.

How about weapon speeds compared to the single player. What is your opinion since we can't share ours?

I found one in particular to be extremely slow and it's unnecessary slow.

Someone hasn't done their research.  A skinned version of WoW?  What tired, MMO cliche book did you pull that out of?  Holy crap---there may or may not be major issues with this game, but a re-skinned version of WoW is absolutely NOT one of them.

Some of you guys have been spouting the same venom at every new game that comes along for so long, all your complaints are beginning to sound alike, even if they hold no resemblance to the actual truth.

After looking at the list of good things, I would like to add one more bad thing. The price of this quality game.

Where is the exploration btw? I read they added collectibles for you to find (holicrons, anyone?:p ) as incentive. I guess exploring only matters if it counts towards an achievement bar :/

They really should have start selling lifetime memberships. It would be very entertaining.

I was lost the moment I saw the horrible and spastic looking combat. Oh my god...
  • MoiraeMoirae Member RarePosts: 3,318
Why is taking a while to level a bad thing? It's time that we get over the ADHD generation and started to realize that good things come with work and time. Not that I can say for sure this game is good yet. I haven't even been into beta. But even so.... stop expecting to be spoon fed.

The NDA on this is so frustrating. It really hurts them more than helps at this point.

I'd like to comment on the article but invariably it would have parts of what I've experienced.

But I'll just say that out of all of the impression articles I've seen today, yours is probably the fairest out there Bill.

I was speaking only of the video as I fear a NDA warning :P

Define the difference between a person who's reporting their experiences in-game with high detail and the a press reporter's experience in-game? I'll answer it for you, there's no difference.

The press and game companies have a working relationship.  The game companies have a list of press people they invite to try out their games and report on them.  If a press member has bashed their games in the past guess who may not get an invite next time?  Guess who may be left out of the loop for awhile?
