It was remade in late 2012. The vets hated the remake as it had safe zones and stuff which the original proudly boasted about being without but I personally thought it was a much better game with much needed improvements. The addition of things like safezones were too much for the vets to handle and not enough to welcome non pvp players though. Last I heard it was struggling but I'm not sure how it's faring these days, it's been awhile.
I think I'd have a better opinion of Darkfall if the inhabitants weren't basement trolls. I've had my eye on Darkfall since it was in development, but a great deal in life had kept me from trying it out until half a year ago. Suffice to say, all it took was asking in chat for some pointers, and being sworn at.
Not a very positive look at a potentially great game. Being as I could forget about playing with anyone at that point, I left before long, very disappointed by the community alone. The concept of Darkfall is nice, but it breeds a lot of nasties considering its main focus.
And because its main focus is PvP, I vote TESO. Elder Scrolls wasn't just great for its ability to kill anyone, but because of the lore and immersion, which Darkfall greatly lacks.

But its okay for Developers to push new meaning of what a MMORPG is on us in order to sell their games to us, but not okay from a member of the community itself?

It is perfectly OK.
So is the descriptor P2W.

Can't answer the question, because there is no such thing as a SCMORPG, only MMORPGs.

MMORPGs are better because they can have up to four pillars.

Come on people, give him a break. He is just trying to define something better. I remember people trying to tell me on these very forums that themepark was an invention made up by sandbox fans to demonize games like WoW and EQII. I doubted it was true and still do but I think it was invented somewhere along the lines from the community. It has been useful at times and we've had plenty of people try and define themeparks and sandboxs further still but they don't cop so much flak. Atleast the op is more original.

I am totally with the OP on this one. If he can get SCMORPG to stick, more power to him.

Why is there no "Neither" option in the poll. Makes the question mute without it. I could not pick either according to the criteria of the question.
ESO has my vote, but it's based on the Beta and it's VERY early days to form a definite opinion. Darkfall never impressed me at all but I know it was popular with lots of people.

Agreed. It's the most god-awfully stupid acronym ever. I facepalm ever time I see him trying to get everyone to use some laughably inane acronym that he's just come up with. He seems to create ALL his threads purely so he can inject more alphabet soup into them.

While I do agree on the new acronym "scmmorg" not being kool I do think that games they are more typical of the old lan system or the following "serverboard" setup that are clearly not MMOs.
But as for the topic I voted darkfall. The ESO experience felt like a mashup of multi game voice actors and ES lore. It is a big problem for ESO that they do not have NPC characters that have "lived on" throughout the series because of the time line, all of the ES games have different NPCs and back story. Couple that with the same voice overs from just about any game latly going back as far as dragon age and it feels like it all mixes together into one long seriously messed up game.
Darkfall on the other hand was a great game. It had soo much potential and the game itself was well done. It had that true ES feel and I always felt if they worked on the war system instead of safezones it might have worked, Its one thing to battle over citys and resources or even spawns within a "territory" but its a whole other thing to just prediate everyone and everything

Oh, but it's not about making one stick, it's about making the 20 or so others stick as well. The nice thing about MMORPG is that you get a general understanding of what you're playing. Even if you don't have a clue about what MMO or RPG mean. If you've got to explain what the acronyms mean each time you use them then it kinda defeats the purpose.

Interesting. I had to pick darkfall but it wasn't without severe reservations.
PS I assumed you just meant the pvp. Otherwise I would have picked ESO for the lore alone.

You know the great thing about a veto is you don't need to move for one

I agree darkfall plays more like elderscrolls than ESO does.
but what the fuck is this "soft cap" thing all about, kind of kills a good topic.
