Easy question. I've been poking around DAOC's PVE and enjoying it.
What other games from this era are still available?
I guess I'm looking for other Pre-WoW themeparks.
Dungeons and dragons but with papers and dice. Just kidding but you could give Everquest a shot or GW1 maybe and there are rumors about SWG private servers aswell even though it's not pre-wow.

Ultima Online, EverQuest 1, Asherons Call 1, Anarchy Online.
The biggest one that closed was Star Wars Galaxies yet there are player servers up, pre-CU so its DaoC era.

Anarchy Online released a month or two before DAOC. AO's release was arguably the worst ever from a stability standpoint but the game itself was very good. After DAOC came L2, FFXI, Horizons, and Shadowbane. Horizons was one fo the best crafting games evermade and is worth playing. FFXI was a great game but the controls were a real pain. Shadowbane a game with lots of potential but extremely bad from a stability standpoint. I believe Shadowbane closed down a couple of years ago. EQ2 released a couple of weeks before WoW but it was essentially a WoW clone in that game got remade in beta to be like WoW with quest directed play with quest icons. Just not finished or done very well at release.
I would recommend playing AO or Horizons. Asherons call would be worth playing as well. AC2 got revived I believ and is in some free to play state now. But my recommendation for a game to play would be Vanguard. I know its post WoW and its design got compromised and changed in beta to be a lot like WoW but its still a great game and arguably the best MMO to release in the last 10 years. Your time left to play it before its death in July is limited.

Wasn't what I was digging for, but an interesting and unusual suggestion. An early sci-fi MMORPG FPS hybrid. I don't think I've ever seen this.
Downloading now. Thanks!
Here's the link if anyone stumbles into this and wants to see the game.
Great list. I wonder if my old AO account is still available. I don't remember why I stopped playing it. Got busy I guess and never went back.
Added EQ1 and and AC1 on my list to check out. Thanks.
