If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.
Those that are trying to argue that WildStar looks "worse" than WoW - I get it: you don't like the art style of WildStar. Trying to argue that it lacks quality is just silly.
One may argue that they feel the game looks worse as far as one's personal taste goes, as someone may not like Jazz. It however, doesn't speak as to the quality of the music just as personal taste in graphics doesn't speak to the overall quality of the artwork.
While I'm sure that if WildStar wasn't a (mostly) seamless world and inserted loading screens every few minutes, they could have probably upped the detail a bit, but I think it looks amazing the way it is.
Aw, hell, I forgot what forum I was on when I tried to prove a point. Farewell.

Stylized is NOT the issue I have with the graphics. The devil is in the details, and the devil just ain't visiting WS.
I've seen indie games with more details. Most everything in WS is made with sharp angles. Hardly anything is actually round. It's not HD, meaning it gets pixelated close up. Saying this game looks like WoW is an injustice to WoW's updated graphics. I can handle the art style, what I hate is the lack of details. Also as another poster mentioned, the environments have a tendency to look almost identical to WoW....except lacking in details and more squared.
But what does it matter, the devs have said many times they are copying WoW and like it when people say the game looks and feels like WoW.
I have to agree 100% with this. Its not the style of the graphcis that I am disapointed with, its that the textures actually look a lot lower rez than WoD's. Its insane that I am even saying that.

Fare thee well, Roxtar.
Lol, was he not looking for a debate? I mean if he wanted to make a statement, he could always try blogger.com. That's pretty single-directional communication, just turn off comments

Prob got mad when he realised WoD is going to have a lot more texture detail than WS lol
When comparing it to another game.. it does kinda look similar to WOW. It's not a bad thing in my opinion. I don't think the game is WOW like or what ever just colorful and cartoonish in game comparison. I personally like it.
The first Wildstar trailers actually looked like an early Pixar CGI film. The trailers, IMO, nailed the look they should have been going for.
The reason I say they should have emulated "early" Pixar, is because I'm not expecting a video game to push graphics at the current levels of Pixar/Dreamworks CGI. However, PCs and GPUs today can indeed render in real time CGI quality graphics that look like earlier Pixar films.
What we got instead was WoW-like cartoonish graphics. Not just WoW-like because they are cartoonish, but many of the game's environmental textures are in the exact style of WoW textures and would fit seamlessly into WoW. From what I understand, Wildstar's Art Director came from WoW, which I guess explains why the look is so similar.
Character design is a bit different, but that doesn't prevent the game from looking like WoW in Space.
I refuse to believe Carbine didn't realize the extremely close similarities until beta testers pointed it out to them. The art style was deliberate and if the intent was to make the game look like WoW in Space, they should just own it, rather than trying to pretend the two games look little alike.
I am one for whom the graphic style is a huge hurdle. If I get a chance to beta test the game before launch and find the game play over-rides the negatives for the visual style, I'll buy the game and extoll it's virtues. If I don't get a chance to beta test, with enough time to really evaluate the full product, I won't be buying it.
Game looks like WoW. There is nonthing that can be said to change that. Sorry but the cartoon art style has already been done and for a pay to play game its not acceptable.

I guess some people have a better eye for detail than others. Is there anything actually round in that pic?
