Does anyone have anything bad to say about the PS4?

Seriously. [mod edit]  is the PS4 any good?  Every thread it's xbox vs. ps.  I'm never getting an xbox.  [mod edit]  What would convince me to buy a PS4?  How is it better than my PS3?  How is better than a PC?

Ps 4 hasn't been updated to invariant tsc so their 1080i might look half way to were it should be?ROFL!seriously aside from this?sony did great using 1080i with temporal deinterlacing instead of 1080p.Nintendo did the same on wiiu.i feel bad for xbox team.it was a cheap yet widely known trick learned from TV industry ,TV still use it so it mustn't be bad .and with invariant tsc in the mix?I suspect after e3 we ll likely all be on 1080i.only PC will still be on p.I don't mind,I gamed on 1080i on PC and I couldn't afford a real PC back then ,and 1080i was my saving grace, wish we had I tsc tho.oh well there is something to look forward to on the console side.

A console with the power of a xbox one or a ps4 using 1080i and using invariant tsc won't envy anything a PC does!why ?a1080i device use 50% less resource!true if a game dev was to use 1080i on PC he would have close to double its actual resource .so instead of 100 resource you would get 200 resource avail.

Ps4 is noisy .. And an answer of the game drowns it out or use headphones is a joke.

My xbox one makes a noise when I turn it on, off and update .. That's it

The 360 makes less noise and so does my ps3

The ps4 is still and ok console but I'd have the xbox one above it, probably the other two as well

It's too expensive and there aren't a lot of games out for it yet. One day a slim version will appear and the current PS4 will be out of the running.

Maybe you should get yours looked at as I just bought one a week ago and I cant hear it make hardly any noise. It makes less noise than my ps3. As far as xbox I don't know as the only xbox I have owned was the original one and that stopped working a long time ago and didn't buy an xbox 360 because I couldn't play my Kingdom Under Fire Crusaders/Heroes games on it so I didn't bother.

The only trouble I have had so far with the ps4 is it wouldn't shut down properly when I installed Warframe- I had to manually hold the power button to get it to shut down and then when I restarted it it would start in safe mode, check files and say it wasn't powered off correctly which could corrupt files. I uninstalled Warframe and now it powers down fine so I am guessing that's a problem with said game and not the hardware.

No. I'm using this PS4 and so far i've never encountered any problems yet. :)

    Cons

    1. Lack of next-gen vision, still relying on disc swapping (or going digital download wholesale, which I will if I go PS4 as I hate disc swapping), UI smoothness and usability still and unknown quantity, media functionality undetailed and general historical poor form on these fronts (even as recently as the Vita) do not bode well for a slick, usable ecosystem
    2. General lack of reliability when it comes to online services and updates – this morning it was announced that the latest PS3 firmware was bricking some PS3s. Seven years into this console and five months away from the next this sets off serious alarm bells for me as to Sony’s competence in this area.
    3. Much less servers to rely on for cloud functionality
    4. Throwing their one innovation under the bus to score cheap points. They drop the Eye so they can be £80 rather than £20 cheaper than Xbxo and instantly make it an irrelevance. Developers won’t support it if they don’t know every console has it.
    5. Small box with little ventilation makes me think this will either be a) a noisy system with powerful fans or b) prone to overheating
    6. Lack of launch window exclusive games that really appeal. Only SecondSon and The Order: 1886 really appeal to me and it's a bit depressing that the two launch titles I would likely buy – Watchdogs and FIFA 14 – would both be on Xbox One as well.
    7. Lack of support for external harddrives. No matter how much Sony fan boys may insist on it – the ability to replace the harddrive is not a better feature. In an ideal world I’d want both features, but just being able to replace the harddrive means you are paying for something you will eventually dispose of. If I want 2tb+ on day one, for Xbox One I add an external and then have 2.5tb, nothing wasted. On PS4 I replace the internal harddrive with a 2tb model and then I have basically paid for a 500gb harddrive I have no further use for. If I do it further down the road I have to go through the laborious process of transferring data over, whereas with Xbox One I simply add more, keeping everything where it is on the internal one. Sorry Sony fanboys, this is a worse situation to be.

After I read your post, I make my own research about PS4 Common Problems. These are the things that I got.

Console Turning Off - some users have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 turning off unexpectedly during the course of game play and in other situations, like not turning on at all when prompted. This issue can be caused by a wide variety of symptoms associated with the end result, but by and large can be summarized with two main indicators—the PlayStation 4 will either display a blinking blue light or a blinking red light in the center of the console (where functioning devices will display a white indicator light). Whether you have a blue or red light that is blinking, the console is unable to be used and may require being sent to store for repair or replacement in order to get it working properly again.

No Audio/Video - Some users have reported issues with the audio or video functionality with their PlayStation 4. These issues manifest themselves in three primary ways: the audio not working (video is visible), video not working (audio is heard), or the rare symptom of both the audio and video both not working.

Freezing - Users of any electronic device have inevitably had to deal with their device freezing every once in awhile and needing to be rebooted, and is not necessarily a deal-breaking issue if it happens rarely or not at all. However, some PlayStation 4 users have encountered a trend of their console freezing at inopportune times, specifically when updating their device via the PlayStation Network and using their device to play games or consume media.

It's just a research that i got in one specific site. I just want to share it.

My only major gripe was it launching with a 500gb hard drive. Other than that for what it is, it works just fine, occasional bug upon shutdown.

A PS4 might be better than an XB1, but, there still isn't that many games for it, and its still not as good as a PC, both the XB1 and the PS4 were late entries, the tech has moved on, and when DX12 eventually becomes a thing, then the consoles will be largely irrelevant, even if they do support DX12, because hardware wise, they are too far behind the curve to provide a credible platform.
There may never be a good reason to buy either a PS4 or an XB1 if you have a PC, particularly the more recent builds, in terms of hardware, the consoles are just too many generations behind now.

PS4 is great. I have a few high end PCs including mine, my wifes, and my laptop, I didn't get an XB1 but I got a PS4 about a year ago. Not very many games for it  so make sure you are getting it for the right reasons. Visual quality is more than fair given its price range. Storage can fill up fast if you are doing digital download of all your games but so far I like it. Hopefully by the end of this holiday season there is a formidable  line up.

Xb1 and ps4 are almost identical.  To come out and say the xb1 is garbage is ignorant.  The truth is they are both quality machines and on 99% of the games you can't tell a difference between normal gameplay.

Sure a few Sony ponies will play the xb1 and the ps4 next to each other and pause the screen during gameplay and take out a microscope to tell the difference but most gamers don't do that.

As for negative things about the consoles?  They both experience occational network issues, PS4 has been a little more frequent ,  Sony is on pace to lose another couple billion this year.

Prior to the last update I would have said that it was missing the ability to stream and play videos, music and photos from our PC or other DLNA servers, but they added that.

So no, can't think of anything bad to say :)

Oh wait, remembered one: not backwards compatible with PS3 games.

Its not the truth though, just your opinion, which also isn't backed up by available evidence, although it is true that some games are very similar in appearance, you just have to look at games that are currently available, not many of them on the XB1 are able to run in full HD, by which i mean, 1080, at best it can manage 900, usually less, and even then we are talking for the most part, at 30 fps, the PS4 can at least run them at 1080, though often also restricted to 30fps, which is also, far less than ideal, but there is a huge difference between 900, even upscaled, to 1080 that isn't, a lot of people perhaps don't understand that its not the cpu's in question, they use the same one after all, that makes the difference, instead, its the GPU's which are entirely different, and worse, at least in the case of the XB1, it only uses DDR3, which nobody uses for graphics these days, so while the PS4 is arguably a better machine than the XB1, at least in terms of the hardware, being better than the XB1 isn't really saying much, the GPU's which are the heart of these machines, are still what, 2 generations out of date now? or 3 if you count just the XB1. As for Sony losing a few billion, perhaps your unfamiliar with Microsoft, and its games division, the old adage that people in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks, is entirely appropriate.

    First try a page break...

2nd try doing a little research...keep throwing your little rocks...facts hurt don't they

    http://www.extremetech.com/computing/175350-microsoft-delivers-record-revenue-profits-due-to-strong-xbox-windows-phone-and-commercial-sales

    http://metro.co.uk/2015/07/22/xbox-one-sales-up-by-a-quarter-in-incredible-three-months-5307969/

Third again sure you want to take a microscope and look at the few games that may be "true hd" on ps4 and not on the xb1 you may see a difference.  As for all the other games people play normally no you most can't see the difference from the distance most play console games at (almost 70% actually)  I guess the Sony ponies truly are a special breed.

Again I think they are both quality consoles and calling the xb1 is complete ignorance.

PS4 does not have a 5ghz wifi frequency, only 2.4, this contrary to the XB1. Might be a problem for some, I had to get a frigging cable for instance.

It doesn't have enough games I want to play, but a slew of JRPGs are coming out next year so that'll fix that.

i have never had a single issue with my ps4. upgraded the hd to 2TB and its great. never have had a noise issue. in fact, my alienware makes more noise than my ps4. sure the pc is a better gaming machine. it always will be because of being able to upgrade. but it is nice to buy a ps4 game and play vs wondering if your pc can play the game because of required specs. never have to worry about that with consoles.
  • Panther2103Panther2103 Member EpicPosts: 5,777
I like the PS4 but it does have glaring issues. Half the time my store page won't load unless I log out and then log back in. It still has no options to make folders like the PS3 did so the front page will always just contain the games that you recently played, even if it's a playstation now game which is just streamed, so if you try 6 different games on now it will show 6 different games on the front page and push 6 others off. It's a poorly designed UI. The direct connection for some reason only gets a fluctuation between 50 mb/s and 20 mb/s even though my net is 150 and on my pc it's consistant 100% of the time. But it does have some great exclusive games that look great and are pretty fun to play. Obviously the PC will look better, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to have a console as well.
