5 Skill Choices

nate1980nate1980 Member UncommonPosts: 2,072

So, we all know by now that you can only have 5 skills slotted at any given time. That makes it extremely hard to decide on which skills you're going to use, which makes it hard to decide on a class to play. That's the position I'm in right now. So let's see if hearing your ideas will help me make a decision.

So which class and 5 skills do you plan on using and what's your reasoning behind those choices? Please indicate which weapon those skills belong to for us neophyte ESO players.

Thanks

I have troubles choosing a class to. Because the class abilities are like a very small part of the whole range abilities that are available. And there is no armor restriction. I still haven't completely found out in what way armor and all the abilities relate to each other.

The possible combinations are quite exotic to me.

Each raceclass can be tank, dps or healer. You can have a build for each.

I am going Khajiit Templar but starting in The Daggerfall Covenant.

Starting with a bow, dps build (range magic and stamina attacks)  and having a healing and tank build also later on

I was a little let down that the skill system wasn't like skyrim/oblivion where you could actually learn all the skills from all the classes :(

Imperial Templar here but once you hit 15 you have 10 skills and 2 ultimate's to play with. There is a lot with building in this game.

PvE just put on a piece of each type of armor. Slot 2 weapon skills and your class skill with Soul magic skill to level them up. anything in your hot bar will gain XP even if you are not using the skill itself.

Don't forget you can max out every skill your have access too.

There are calculators out there to play with also.

My problem with choosing a class is that I do not know what skills the theives and assassins guild will have when they finally go live. What if they have skills that make me regret choosing the base class I did.

My main will initially be a Bow/Siphon Nightblade.  Don't remember the names of the skills, but my plan for now is to have the life stealing one from siphon, the knockback from Bow, the stun/dot from Siphon, the poison DoT from Bow, and probably Snipe.  Until I become a vampire, then it will change a bit, but I'll have to actually be one in order to feel out the abilities and decide for sure.

Going sorcerer/restoration staff healer.  Takes a bit longer to kill stuff but awesome survivability.  Use pets to tank and damage while sit back and drop AoE heals.  The Atronach ultimate ability is cool.  Plus being a healer makes it easy to pick up group when needed.  Dropping skill points in light armor and rest in crafting.

My plan is to be a crafter first and because I can spam a skill, I doubt I will ever have 5 total. Find the one or two skills that bring stuff camping nodes down fast and the rest will go to crafting.

You can sort of build a monk using a Temp with DW & staff, and medium armor I was toying around with a build of the sort last beta.

I would like to see a fist class myself but until then we could easly make a staff, Bow & DW monk using the Templar class.

Consider this: the templar class is the only one that can heal without a staff equipped.

Their main nuke has a healing debuff and so on... its by far the most versatile class and i tried all of them.

Give it a try next beta you will be surprised...

This is why I like the Temp over all, Temp and Dragon Knight are the only 2 classes that can heal without a staff (Dragon Blood) the other 2 can heal but only though staff swapping or damage via crit or siphen and to me this is a mistake and will in the long run force min/max pvpers to choose Temp or Dragon Knight.

They need to fix that IMO, they need to give all classes a self heal without staff or damage procs , the end result will be mostly Temps & Dragon Knights down the road.

Another thing I have noticed is how useful passive health regen is, Temps and Dragon Knights can faceroll most fights if you have high health regen without having to use a self heal at all unless pushed to the limit, much like in GW2 no one at first thought passive health regen made any difference but as we see now health regen is key in pvp

I also feel they need to remove all race traits that give added health regen, this will created another min/max for pvp, so in a few months after the theory crafting is over most hardcore pvpers will be playing, Orc, Nord & Imp Temps and Dragon Knights because they will provide the best survivability to damage ratio in PvP.

That would be awesome. Something tells me the have more class that could be quicker than we might expect.
