I want to upgrade my intel core i5 cpu 750 2,67Ghz to something better. My motherboard is
ASUS P7P55D LGA 1156 Intel, gpu is nvidia gtx 660 2gb, ram is 8gb ddr3. I was looking to spend like 150 euros, for that price which CPU do you think would be best for my computer to get a significant upgrade? if changing my cpu won't give my pc a significant boost, then tell me too please thanks in advance

Intel discontinued your socket type (LGA 1156) back in 2012, so while you can find some processors to fit it, I'd recommend spending a few extra bucks to upgrade to the 1155 socket type. Here is what I'd buy around the price you listed, however, you will have to have a socket 1155 motherboard as well.

As far as a motherboard goes, I would recommend:

Gigabyte is a good company in my experience, and that board is currently on sale on newegg for $75 minus shipping.
I know this is a little more than you were looking to spend, but upgrading to socket 1155 will help you a whole lot more than trying to find an old 1156 socket processor.

If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
Changing your CPU for that socket wont be worth the money, as you wont be able to find anything where the performance increase justifies the money spent.
As the poster above me said, you are better off saving a couple of hundred more dollars and buying something new.
The CPU you have is still very capable and should easily last until you have the money for a new mobo and cpu.
for 150 bucks I can't really recommend a cpu upgrade.
I5 is very good for gaming, if you are heavy into video editing I would recommend a I7, and only then.
8GB RAM is still sufficient, if you are using 64 bit that is, otherwise your OS can't even work with that amount of memory.
If you really want to upgrade something, I would say the video card or maybe a new motherboard that supports your cpu.
And even then you will see any real difference in performance when you look at benchmark tests.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
Best comment yet, the i5 really aint that bad, so let gather some tips for the horsepower.
You have everything already to make all games running well, maybe not at max level, but really, board and cpu is alright.
What i see at my puperty kids (no offense lol, i have 2 elder boys already) they totally trash their PCs with a shitload of crap software, never defragmented, never uninstalled, never looked at the services running or even try to make the PC boot without Steam starting up.
Im still in the belive, that a lot people have problems maintaining their computers.
If you use Norten software, you are propably one of those ^^
Generally, avoid blown up programs and only use, what you need, never forget to remove it, when it was shit.
Follow these steps now:
1.
open your software manager and uninstall, what you dont need.
2.
open c:\useryouAppDataLocalTemp and delete it all - if you can not see the AppData folder, go into the windows options to make hidden drawers visible (ask teh interwebz, how) and then delete all Temp but not the folder itself. You cant even delete it all, some is under task and with that, protected.
3.
empty your trashcan on desktop
Your computer should be free of the most unnessasery weight now.
Windows7 automatically defragments you HDDs, but it can not hurt, to check if its really that case.
Data-fragments raise your hash times (the times, where the physical arm inside the HDD "hashes" the fragments together from the disc).
Computer users sould understand the problems with defragmentation, files get split up in pieces to fit into your HDD space ..
To make em useable, the computer has to pick all fragments together before you can use the software of your choice.
Thats a big time - and powersink.
4. Im with Avira AntiVir (http://www.avira.com/de/personal) for at least 25 years now, has never let me down ^^
Check your PC, avoid Norten and thelike. You need to be sure, your pc is 100% free from hostile software.
5. Drivers
Check out bios upgrades for your board, also use nvidia state of the art drivers, they solved some really hard problems last year and the newest beta drivers ran good for the last 3 or 4 releases..
You did all Windows updates when they come in, right ?
Updating Windows is important, to close doors for hostile software what always make your computer slow.
If all that has not helped you experience with gaming, you can change other things that are pretty relevant for speed as well.
Since im using SSD drives, my pc is 10x faster!
Using a SSD harddrive is nearly recommendet nowadays, ist ultry sexey fast
Overclocking - Intel CPUs can You can really spank them.
But you also can OC your memories up to 2,2ghz.
Im using 2x 4gb Kingston 1866mhz native (switch in bios, but first learn, how to reset it )
You gonna need a new watercooler, get rid of the old fan's, closed watercooling systems a the way to go.
120.- € SSD
80.- € new RAM
70.-€ watercooler
.. not exacly what you wanted.
I made the following when i was at the change point:
The first month i got me a good Powersupply, 550W, but not the cheap shit, was about 140.-bucks
The second i got the mainboard, also good stuff for 140.-
Third month the CPU, im with AMD since forever, got me the 8150 Octocore (my Linux is flying^^ now) - 220.-
4th month i got me my 560gtx with DDR5 ram's in, guess yours is already pretty good ^^ was another 180.-
5th month i got the other parts and build it, that was another 200.- for SSD and watercooler.
That was 2 years ago and i still feel properly set for whatever is out there, 900.-€ later
Summa summarum you can not just replace a part of your system.
Either optimise, what is there, or change the system (cpu/board/mem) completely.
I'd say, optimise first and if it fails, you have some parts to start a new system already there.
best'o luck, dude ^^
oh i should mention that i have to undust my pc nearly every 6 months, its darn sucker !
I so love that art style
Gimme moooooaaarrr ^^
Found Sam as welp
