Spellsword build... any suggestions?

Hey all,

So, I've decided I want to try and make a spellsword character ( http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Spellsword_%28Class%29 )

I believe my character will be Breton, for the following racial bonuses: 

• Light Armor Affinity (1 rank) - Increases experience gain with the Light Armor skill line by 15%.
• Gift of Magnus (3 ranks) - Increases maximum Magicka by (4/7/10)%.
• Spell Resistance (3 ranks) – Increases Spell Resistance by (32/64/96).
• Magicka Mastery (3 ranks) – Reduces the Magicka cost of spells by (1/2/3)%.

I will most likely be wearing heavy armor, however. My weapons, I'm planning for a 2H sword and a bow.

Quick question, are you going to mix in any light armor pieces to take advantage of the passives and also give a few bonuses to mana, mana regen, etc?

Possibly -- especially a hood that I like. Possibly some gloves/arm wraps. Aside from that I will likely wear heavy armor.

I'm not completely ruling light armor out, but so far I seem to gravitate to the aesthetics of the heavy armor much more than the light.

I contemplated about a sort of Spellsword too, but unsure how to built. I had thought using a Platemail, buuuut... I still dont understand the armor system in ESO. >.<

So instead of light armor + melee I thought more to use plate armor with staff. But then, I am more a PVP guy, and that made me think of: distance attack + survivability.

 

Daggerfall has the coolest Plate Armor style! But I find the foggy lands a bit... depressing. The Dominion Landscape looks more cheerful. XD

I was thinking about that as well. Like a Thane in DaoC or ...uhm....dont know what the english Name of the Class is/was. Storm Warrior, simply translated. Was 2 Handed as well and used Smites. (sry that i can't recall as i played in German)

I thought about that and still think. It is just one variation. But Smite and 2Hand with Full Heavy Armor sounds yummy to me as well I'm gonna try that this weekend. But as Race i try Imperial perhaps. Don' know yet, let's see what drives me *giggle*

Funny, I was thinking along very similar lines. You'll have to let me know how your build turns out. I love theorycrafting, I'm just not very good at it. I was always much better at breaking my DM's game in D&D 3.5. Not sure why it didn't carry over to MMOs but, C'est la vie.
