Is there any open world to this or is it like swtor where you take your ship and get dumped out into a shoe box until your ready to go and get dumped out into another shoe box? I played just a bit and it felt that way.
It is an open world (with world PvP), but divided into continents. Each continent is its own separate instance (the same as continents in WoW). Things that ARE instanced and not open world include:
To elaborate on the above, you can run from one end of a continent to another without seeing a loading screen, like in WoW. In SWTOR you couldnt do that as each location was representing a separate planet.
How is traveling in game, portals or real time flying like with gryphons in wow ?
Not a gryphon, no. Instead it's a quirky little flying taxi cab flown by a very talkative AI. Yes it's mechanically the same as the gryphons in WoW where you go seamlessly from one zone to the other via flying (within the same continent, of course), so there's no loading screens like WAR had, GW2 has, or SW:TOR has.

Thanks, this is what I hoped for. I didn't expected a gryphon of course but flying in real time over open land is a refreshing change from instant travelling by portal. Now hopefully I will find some an open beta key to try the game.

Indeed, though the holy grail would be a game like Dungeon Siege (1 and 2) where you could move from the start of the game through all the dungeons to the end of the game without ever seeing a single loading screen. It just felt so natural and brilliant. I miss those games
Love how no one mentions the invisible walls, which are everywhere in this game. Don't expect to climb any mountains unless the path up is 'officially' approved.

Never ran into any invisible walls on my play through. Where abouts did you find them?
All I found were mountain sides too steep to climb and water that gives you an exhaustion bar if you go too far out.

This is what that i haste most in mmo's. Loading Screens...
So without being an expert in Wildstar, its positive that it has both no open world instanced places and loading screens. This is one of the aspects, among others, that i preffer Wildstar from TESO.
How is the client performance? I have the worst experience (as client performance i mean) from RIFT and the best from WoW. Wildstar's performance is closer to RIFT or to WoW?

From what ive read of those playing in beta 4 its quite improved over 3.5, but the game still has another 2 1/2 months of development before launch so further optimization is guaranteed. Will see come open beta how the game is fairing then to have a good comparison to other games

There are some off planet zones that you need to talk to an NPC to get to like Farside.

Youtube has a couple videos that show the taxi system, here is one with no voice ( he must have turned voices down or off )
and then here is one with the cab voice on
they are still fine tuning the camera, the cab voiceover and the collision.
