Rough beta weekend - 2 steps back, but

Aliantha_AngelAliantha_Angel Member UncommonPosts: 225

I'm still eagerly awaiting March 30.

So many more bugs than last beta, but I'm still excited and still going to play.

I've played an uncountable number of betas since Ultima Online and I already know not to expect a final polished product.  I expect some people to stop reading and troll me right there, but if you read on, I am NOT saying that it's ok to release a product all bug-ridden.  There's a difference between knowing what to expect and thinking it's ok.

I'm looking forward to this title for a long time to come and I've made my peace with knowing the first 30 days may not be what I had hoped for, but as long as I can play, I'll b ok.  Quests may be broken but the saving grace of this game is exploration, I can craft, and while I anticipate replies that decry the limits of exploration and such, at least for me I'll deal with it and silently rejoice as the polish finally gets put on.

From a business standpoint it would be tough to push back the launch at this date without losing a crazy number of pre-orders to cancellation.  I guess they'll take their chances on fixing fast and keeping people happy and hoping they will continue subscriptions.

I'm not "happy" about the state of what I saw this weekend, but I'm happy enough with the game to prefer playing it with bugs to playing anything else out there.

Just my 2 cents - your experience may differ.

Well I for one will tend to agree with you on this I actually logged out of the game so many times this weekend just because of the frustration I felt while playing. I have played in the last 3 or 4 betas so far and it seems as if this is the worse and I thought it would have been the other way around.

Don't get me wrong I am not getting rid of my sub just yet I do want to give this game a chance which is probably the reason I just log out of it instead of just getting pissed and terminating my sub for this game.

no chance I'm giving up, been through enough betas to know that this is far from the worst and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I was surprised how many low level quests I could not complete due to bugs. Only got to level 8 on my new Templar, but hit at least 4 quests that I had to dump due to issues.

Hope they can get that fixed before launch, the completionist in me was almost screaming.

The one major bug that bother me and other players were the Invisible keep wall and Keep door in Cyrodill

AND the constant dismount for no reason bug

The way I look at it is, if launch woes bug me it's my own fault for continually playing games at launch. I've seen it a hundred times, in many genres at this point; from console to PC, online **** almost never works well the first few week's/month. For which ever reason that may be, I've given up trying to figure it out.

Don't wanna pay full price to experience issues? wait until the price drops or (if) it goes F2P.  The game isn't going anywhere for quite some time. Apparently neither are the issues.

its probably the new npc collusion that they added that has now bugged quests that werent bugged before.  They got 2 weeks to refix the quests I am not worried I still had fun messing aroudn trying new build styles and what not I cant wait for release.

I found the relogging thing was a bit worse than the dismount,  in that some quests took multiple (like 6-7) to remedy. As an old SWG fan,  I'm used to relogging it was a constant in SWG until it's last day from it's first, it came with playing. But here, my word I can't do that for months no -not I- not gonna happen.

The keep thing yeah that too.

But in general imo collusion is a good choice, it enhances immersion and gameplay for sure.

So love this post. Refreshing and real....

I too am not happy about the last TWO betas. They invited all these thousands of people to test and made it seem like an open beta to these people. Only to show them old builds full of bugs. Now, those of us that actually know or read what's going on have to explain why this game is far better than the weekend betas.

    Frustrating to me.

I was also very frustrated with this weekends beta as it had been very smooth testing from the start back in Oct up until this weekend.

Thankfully someone in game gave what I believe is a very reasonable explanation for this very buggy beta weekend, basically were using a older beta client that allowed everyone to play Imperial and all that goes with that.  Now can I verify this no ...I can only go by my personal testing experiance and this seems viable.

It's funny how some people made it to VETERAN RANK 5 by the end of this beta, yet other people say the game is unplayable due to bugged quests and can't get past level 5.

How to be an MMO gamer:

Step 1:  Encounter bugs in a beta.

Step 2:  Cry on online game forums about how the game is garbage and unplayable.

Step 3:  Play the game anyways.

Like seriously?  You encountered problems, big whoop!  You guys do realize you had the option to go do other quests right?  You could just explore anywhere around the world and find shit tons of quests to do that weren't bugged.  But no, you find one that you can't finish and say OMGWTF NOPE GAME IS CRAP CANCELLING PRE-ORDER CALLING LAWYER AND FILING COMPLAINT AND GETTING CEO FIRED!!!!111111!!!

I am very disappointed with all the bugs, cant see how it will be fixed before launch.

you can explore when you cant finish a quest cause of bugs but I am not paying so mush money for exploring.

everyone that are on the fence about the game should rather wait and see.

I will still buy at launch but zenimax,i am loosing my trust in them.

This beta was a bit rough, they have some work to do before launch, namely fix a lot of quests.

I used this beta to try daggerfall covenant for the first time as some friends want to play there. After playing daggerfall for the weekend I came to the conclusion that I will have to find new friends. Ebonpact zone chat makes my soul hurt, but at least I can turn it off. I don't know if there is going to be any feature at launch that would allow me to make the daggerfall noob stuff interesting.

Very well said and I concur. You left out a very important piece to why one would be willing to stick it out and "wait for the final polish". Bethesda has already proven that they are a worthy company that can break the mold and bring an epic journey to our computer screens. Based on that and what you wrote above I am trustingly awaiting March, 30th.

If they cross me, it will be the last red cent they ever get from my pocket.

Dismounts will happen less frequently after you've leveled up your horse in "stability". You do this by feeding your horse every other day in that category.

Oh the bugs! I had to relog so many times to finally finish quest. This was the worst beta ever.

Made a new templar. got to level 8. Wamst that bad, but still.

I also will be playing this game, but I'm not  happy about the amount of bugs in this game still.  And the old build excuse does not work for me they should have had the latest and the greatest build out for us to test.

True as that may be, its not an excuse of the inability to finish quests.

    Two distinct matters:

    1) the bugged quests. Abosolutely true. There are too many of them.

    2) ESO PVE works around exploration and if you don't like to explore you're going to miss many quests, skyshards, chests, etc etc etc. actually depriving your game experience.
