Video: Potential of Small Scale PvP

spizzspizz Member UncommonPosts: 1,971

Someone made a video having fun doing pvp with a small group. Just one example out of other possibilities.

A big zerg is not everything in this game and strategy aswell the use of proper terrain is possible.

It's not everything, but you get far more rewards with less risk for sticking with large herds of people. This eventually leads to the masses sticking to the zergs and the small groups getting steamrolled by them.

There will likely be some well coordinated campaigns though. There just probably won't be very many of them. But if you are into RvR and want to run it right, there will certainly be an opportunity to be a part of it if you look for the right guild and campaign.

Well thats up to the players and I know that a lot prefer this more than zerg combat. But the nice thing is that a lot of different kind of pvp is possible. From mass zerg to medium scale down to small scale pvp and 1v1.

I have participated in similar scenarios and it was really fun, its a variety besides just looking for mass pvp and it helps the people who are doing it with thinning out the enemies ordnance/supply.

The problem with small scale PvP - you're gonna waste a LOT of time waiting and avoiding zergs. As soon as you're spotted by the zerg - you die.

It's a possibility - but you're gonna spend a lot of time just waiting and sneaking and not actually fighting, so your points will come slow.

A large organized guild can roll around and just rank in points constantly on the other hand.

Some are not interested just in points, some love the adrenalin and taking part in more diversified pvp scenarios. They are not fighting the zerg, they are fighting those who died at the frontline doing mass pvp. Sneaking around enemies is actually exciting and thefore a success even more a great adeventure.

And this is the reward not the points or ranks, having fun with pvp. Doing pvp only in a zerg just for points and rewards sounds boring.

They are currently running from a zerg. Or they were a second ago. They are a pretty rapey bunch though.

I never joined a team. I ran some zerg, some small group, some solo. I made it to 97 emperor rank on a fresh toon.

The place is so damn big.

When it comes right down to it, that is what matters. The campaign will be for 90 days. The points will reset. There will be a winner and probably an emperor. But the overall campaign is perpetual. Nothing you own gets reset. So just having fun in PvP. Creating your own "scenarios" can and will be a lot of fun IMO.

I spent the whole weekend in the PvP zone and had tons of thrilling fights.

Most of it was solo pvp and small group and had a blast.  There's absolutely nothing that forces anyone to have to join the zerg and it seemed like a steady flow of targets depending on what I was looking for.

I was actually surprised at how many good 1v1 fights I found.

If they can fix some of the bugs and put some more squirrels in the server then IMO this will be a lot of fun.

The problem with small scale PvP, is the same problem WvWers has a problem with GvGers in GW2. They take up room on the server load, and are pretty much useless.
