The problem with MMO atm is that they have to cater to the new players that don't want to rely on other players to play. The problem with levelling in modern MMO, for example, is that they're often calibrated so solo players can easily do them. Worst, a lot of MMOs includes solo-missions or instances, and none of them includes mandatory multiplayer missions.
I don't know why, but at one moment in the history MMORPG, players that doesn't like MMOs decided they wanted to play MMOs, and force their needs of soloplayer in games.
Agreed. I would love to hear what games some posters on here are referring to when they talk about hard and what characteristics made them hard.
Sunwell? Only 2% have ever done it. If that is not hard, what is?
How about D3 inferno when it was first released? Most won't last seconds in front of an elite group.
Difficult why? Required some sort of special skill from the player or because it was a difficult raid that required the right gear and coordination of 20+ people?
D3 not an MMO in my opinion so doesn't factor into the discussion as far as I am concerned...
Who cares why? 2% is difficult
D3 is close enough to a MMO to me .. and listed on the "MMORPG" list here, and many mentioned it here.
You do realize that your argument about D3 being on the games list holds 100% absolutely no merit what-so-ever. Why? Because the list contains single player games too. For instance, South Park: Stick of Truth is on the frickin list. Think abhout that for a moment. A single player RPG is on MMORPG.com's game list... This has been explained to you time and time again, the list has transformed into a collection of games that people who play MMORPG's will most likely enjoy. It is not meant to be used as way to define what an MMO is.
I don't know how else to explain this to you...
That is close enough to MMO for me. Instead of typing out "a collection of games that people who play MMORPGs will enjoy" ... i will just use MMORPGs.
