Best graphics and effects on the market

in Reviews & Impressions
Starting this thread to praise the quality work in the games graphics and effects.  No other mmorpg comes close, not even close, to this games weather system, water effects, ect.  There are things to complain about concerning this title, but graphics and effects certainly could not be included among them.  Hope game polishes up a bit, cause the world is fantastic and impressive.

    If best graphics for a mmo then I agree. Its still not saying a lot because we have not gotten a mmo that pushed graphics since Everquest 2. ESO looks great even with the foggy draw distance but it should look better. Should have had another graphic setting like extreme or maximum.

    Depends on what you mean by graphics. If you mean realism based, then I think TSW would do better, although the game flows better than that. But for weather? No, not at all. Final Fantasy 14 has some of the best weather affects i've ever seen.. One of the few MMO's out there which actually has heat shimmers in hot climates.

    TESO doesn't have the best animations, but they are tons better than the crap in TSW.  Having said that, I think most of the animations in TESO are pretty decent.  There are just a few that don't feel right, like running.

    My understanding is that you haven't actually played the live version, based on the various "waiting for F2P" comments you keep throwing around.  Your opinion doesn't hold much weight, unfortunately.

     

    Of course I'm sure that won't stop you from claiming to have played a friends copy or something.

    They're good, I agree, but I think FFXIV is prettier even with the difference in graphic style.

    No FFXIV has the best weather effects,  The graphics on TSW are very good with everything turned up on directx 11 and tesselation like the rocks and pebbles on the beach. TSW is a beautiful game but the combat animations are horrid and as for animations ESO does not have very good animations either. The combat animations are not to my liking . Age of Conan is also a very good looking game with nice combat animations.

    I really like the graphics in eso too.  The weather effects could be better though and the water seems a bit off to me.  That being said I really love the sun rays and the overall art aesthetic.  For me it definitely feels like an elder scrolls game.

     

    AoC had really great graphics when it came out and I loved the look of alot of the zones.  Now eso is winning out on that which is great.  I agree though about the run animation. Kind of annoying but overall doesn't ruin it for me.  

    This is one of the first games where the pve aspect I find myself enjoying alot and I think alot of that is the good graphics and zone sizes.  Each new zone has like an epic overarcing story.  Awesome.

    But best overall *graphics* - not to me.

    There are other games that do some aspects WAY better - ArcheAge for example water is done leaps and bounds better than ESO. View distance in ESO is very short - also, the animation on characters - again not that great... etc...

    Not gonna go into a full list of negatives - but ESO's lighting is really great.

     

    Am looking forward to Archeage, and hope its graphics are as great as i hear.  (It's not released in NA yet)  But good to see folks agree for most part.  I played The Secret World a bit too, good graphics but not nearly on the same level as ESO.   And yes, the lighting is incredible!  

    Art is subjective to a point, then you have to call a spade a spade.  ESO got the feeling of an elder scrolls game down pretty well.  Now lets fix them bugs and put some polish on.

    The lighting and environments are pretty well done but the animations are complete garbage. I played at release and it bothered me so much.

    I really wasn't impressed with the graphics.  I found other games, as mentioned above, to have better graphics.  I loved the graphics in FF14.  Simply beautiful.  And I'm still in love with the landscape of LotRO.

    Agreed.  FFXIV and Archeage look great... Black Desert looks even better... just my opinion.  Im glad you like TESO's graphics... I dont' think they are bad but not great either... I do enjoy the lighting!

    Ya, the water looks pretty good too.

    I wouldn't say they are the best graphics, but they are very good.  Great lighting effects, very good textures, and an overall beautiful game world.

    As for water effect, LOTRO still owns this category.

    Black desert is another one I am anxious to learn more about.

     I should rephrase the title of this thread to best lighting ever, haha.  Everyone agrees excellent lighting :)

    lol you mean like running, fighting,and doing anything else! the movement/fighting animation is 5 years behind... that what made me uninstall the game after 30mins of gameplay
