This is stupid as fuck. Ive been following Archage korea since Alpha status and i can tell you that the new patches destroyed the population there.
Besides that your reach lvl 50 in 1 week playing about 8h a day. Also, the endgame content, wich was never showed from Trion is very limited in content, even korea.
There are not many dungeons/raids to do and the game gets repetive very fast.
Seeing how the community is doing in russia, where 85% quit the game after the first month - just ask yourself
DOES THE PRICE JUSTIFY A GAME LIKE ARCHAGE- WHEN ITS DOING SO BAD IN OTHER COUNTRYS?
Do people still not understand that the mmo market is changing ? Expect almost all studio's offering these kind of stuff.
Studio's need to make money, your not forced to buy anything and the game will be free to play.
Welcome to 2014 where studio's have cash shops / founders packs / subscriptions for as long as they can tank it etc etc.
Gaming is changing for the last years in the mmo world. If we agree with it or not its a big market and they need to make money.
I pay anymore then 50/60 euro myself for a mmo, but some people migt pay double to get early acces :P To each his own preference !
What about ppl that dont throw their money out of the window?
Are they allowed to play with the experience you yourself are provided? Do you want to pay 60 Euro for an MMO or would it be ok to pay 20 Euro as well so other people could consider playing with you?
Posts and behaviors like yours are the reason we have to deal with the mess we are currently in. The world isn't rich and fancy to throw out their savings every time a new game comes out - we have children, maybe medication costs, living costs, fancy taxes and our jobs might not be the best on top of that. You know, some people have to actually manage their money, eh? Thanks for kicking everyone in the balls that was looking to play but couldn't because he can't afford as much as you.
In 5 years I will have to decide if i either buy WoW2 or feed my 2 year old son for another 3 months. Bravo, well done.
Winning a discussion is not what it's about. If you could pass insight to someone or learn something from it in return - noone can really loose, can they?
Well, thanks for the offer Trion, but the question whether I want to spend my money on the beta version of a pay2win game, or rather buy three to five finished and reviewed AAA games, is not a difficult one to answer.
I'm placing all my money on Black Desert. It just seems like a much better all around game. I was waiting for arche age for a long time, but seeing they will charge you monthly to even have a house (which is a major part of the game) I will pass. I hate these companies that can't do F2P models correctly. If anything just make it B2P then add a COSMETIC cash shop.
did trion remove the quest to acquire glider and mount? Rus server have it. If we have it for NA then i can wait for release. 90 day patron and beta access is the only thing but not worth it, unless you cant wait.

latest korean patch:
> TTK for absolutely everything (inc. players) was drastically increased, resulting in 'harder' PvE (read: everything are sponges now), and mages became absolutely useless. Everyone are pretty much the same two-three builds. Also changed damage formulas, armor defense values, entire skill trees, etc.
> Loyalty points added, gained for logging in daily, lose for not logging in. Directly modifies labour point gain, repair costs, etc.
> Crafting nerfed despite already being Korean-tier. 90k is the new cap from 50k, you gain much less XP from crafting, and most recipes were rebalanced so that you have to invest more LP to craft the same things as before.
> More WoW-esque 'features', like the majority of new craftables using, by in large, NPC-purchasables (read: inflexible prices, no longer driven by supply and demand).
> Lifescore points added, a second layer to the LP system that is used for some items, generated by using up LP, and is required for some of the crafting (read: another way of limiting your progress, esp. for free players).
> Fishing, but now instead of using nigh solely player-made objects (sandbox elements), all items revolving around it are bought with 'lifescore points'.
> Many trade packages removed, new trading routes replacing them that require less items, but need 'processed food/items' that you can get from a trading vendor to convert your food item into processed food (read: more NPC merchant nonsense, removed features, added another forced method of using up precious LP). Note that you still need to craft the trade pack after processing it.
> Trade routes changed to be much easier than before and based more on continents (land-trade).
> Delphic Coins removed from trade (!?!?), replaced with gold. They are now only obtainable from daily quests (hahaha). Also, if you lose a trade package, you get 40% of the money you would earn if you turned it in. TAKE EXTREME CAUTION TO THIS, THIS IS A GAME BREAKER
> Mirage Island prices have changed. Speedboat is 150 DC (holy fuck), 400 for merchant ship, 250 for a galleon, 150 for a tractor, and a tank is 300. These are only the BPs. (Slightly high, but they should be difficult to obtain, minus the speedboat).
> Tear Nui removed from the game (are unearnable), now merchantable for 20s per coin.
> Debuff to screw up your glider in PvP zones.
> 50-55 is based on grinding a single instance in an absolute peace zone on the northern continent.
>Taxes are no longer paid through gold, but - you guessed it, LP. You pay 'certificates' that cost 200 LP and are conveniently, also available on the cash shop.
> Maximum earnable DC if you do all 5 dailies and the 2 involving instances are 12. 'Normal' dailies only give one. Takes 2.5 - 5hs to do all.
> Story quests no longer give experience or items.
> Monsters no longer drop trash items, gold, or Akhium.
> Quests give you chests instead of fixed gear, based on RNG.
> Cash shop became P2W. In addition to costumes with stats that are purchasable, you can buy a stealth mount that also happens to be as good as the current PvP mount. Also, 1000 LP potions without any cooldown for ~40 cents.
> Treasure chests, land and sea, no longer give Tear Nui (removed), or Delphic Coins. Instead, they give trash loot and alkhium.
> Overall direction: instances, grind, and more PvE. Toward a soulless, P2W themepark game.

Trion responded to the 1.0 debacle a few days ago and the info was updated again yesterday.
Updated April, 24 2014
Hartsman, CEO of TRION WORLDS spoke about their response to the controversial 1.0 patch earlier today on reddit.
(referring to the 1.0 complaint list circling the sites)
This is what he had to say...
Hi - This list resurfaces every time someone mentions 1.0, and I definitely understand why.
I have a lot of respect for the original author of that list. As one of the long-standing, highly knowledgeable AA fans, there was a lot of helpful info being presented to the US audience.
That said, as with anything else on the internet, info that's presented using one-sided, emotionally charged terms frequently doesn't paint the whole picture.
That list is from the original 1.0 release quite some time ago. Most of the perceived negatives already have been or are being addressed, or just don't apply to the western version.
On our internal 1.0 build, quests give experience, monsters drop treasure packs, the Korea-specific loyalty system doesn't exist, selling the stealth mount naturally isn't a fit for our MTX style, we're working out the specifics of how coins go back to more than just dailies (...a number of which existed pre 1.0 as an option already), and so on.
That particular set of opinions also avoids mentioning any of the positives that were added such as: Mount speed buff timing went from not helpful to amazingly useful, Hereafter (teleport) stone costs went from silly to sane, quest reward items while fewer can actually proc up quality levels, and a dozen or so other genuine improvements to the game - Including a few that make it even more of a sandbox than it was previously.
Beyond that - It might also be helpful to check out the latest 1.2 info. (Some of it is here: http://www.reddit.co...fx/archeage_12/ ) The 1.0 crafting extension experiment went away, and lots of other improvements as well.
Also - For those interested in further background, I addressed some of the "how did 1.0 happen" and touch on XL's commitment to the sandbox experience in a past mmorpg.com Q&A - http://www.mmorpg.co...rions-Plan.html
The goal is to get our version as close to best of all worlds as possible.
Scapes (He's the community moderator) announced (4-23-14) that Gilda coins/Delphi coins are back in the TRION 1.0 version of ArcheAge. They will be a reward for intercontinental trading for beta, TRION AA 1.0, and beyond
Scapes made an announcement about the new trade pack split. (4-24-14)
...Got an update to share on that front as well. We're going to change the trade pack split from 60/40 to 80/20 as of Beta. Team's been working with XLGames on testing a different split, this is what we landed on but it is by no means final (this means provide feedback during Beta about your experiences with it, please).

QFT. I bought the 150$ pack because I cannot wait for AA and have been a huge advocate for TW. I really hope they dont let some of the more extreme P2W aspects into the NA version. XL games DID say TW has total control over the model so I do have hope.
Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships Waiting on: Ashes of Creation
also wanted to add that the cloak with the 150 dollar pack mentions allowing you to upload your own image to make a custom cloak. That's a bit unique at least along with putting in your custom emblem.
Originally posted by friizel Why should we pay to test their game?
You are not paying to test their game, you are paying to be able to play the game while they work on and test it. You get goodies on top of being able to play before most others which gives you a chance to know where things are giving you a head start on the rest. You have a chance to play in the betas or even the alpha if you get invited by random invite so either pay to get in for sure or roll the dice.. your choice no one forces you to pay.
What are you really paying for? your own impatience. That's all.
Originally posted by Tygranir They are charging players the price of a full, complete game; just for a chance to test it for them? Plus, isn't this game already out in other countries? I may need to leave MMOs....
When launched it will be F2P.
So you can simply wait and not spend a dime.
I don't see what the issue is - Landmark had founder packs - it's a F2P game, Alpha access cost $100 there for a crafting simulator where you can dig and build.
Here you get a full working game - and for $150 you get $75 of in game currency to spend and $45 worth of subs (3 months)
Again - don't like it, don't pay.
And landmark will be more then a dig and build it will have exploration and mobs to fight and skills etc. quit hating on Landmark DMKano
Yeah 150 a bit steep but form what I've played in the russian version once I can afford I will opt in.
I'm in Landmark Alpha - I can speak for what is there NOW (digging and gathering FOREVER so you can build a little)
I am also in ArcheAge alpha - and can speak what is there NOW (the game is complete - it's not a building/gathering simulator)
Landmark (to me) is not even worth $5 - it's a SHELL of a "game" - sure it could be something fantastic in the future - right now it's not worth it to me, honestly I have a hard time calling it a game.
That's all I am saying the value between the *current* state of Landmark vs ArcheAge - it's night and day.
You are right when it comes to Landmark and why I asked and got a refund within 3 weeks.
Landmark is very very far from being anywhere near a complete game. It's going to take at least another year before it gets anywhere. /sigh
I don't understand. ESO comes out with Imperial Edition and the whole world loses it's mind about stuff being locked behind a paywall in a P2P game. A F2P comes out that wants to charge to test a game, and locks items behind a paywall, and it's ok....I'm confused.
Edit: And it's almost 2x as much as the Imperial edition...
150 is almost 2x as 100? What kind of math is that?
Also for 150 you get $75 worth of in-game currency and 3 month premium subscription.
What do you get for $100 ESO Imperial Edition?
3 months worth of subs? In game currency?
Oh yeah a cheap plastic statue.... and a pretty cool artbook
The difference is - you don't have to spend a cent on ArcheAge and you'll be able to play it when it launches.
ESO cannot be played for $0 - unless it goes F2P at some point.
So I don't see an issue - don't want to spend any cash and want to play ArcheAge - just wait, nobody is forced to spend ANY money on AA.
Want to playe ESO and don't want to spend any cash - currently impossible.
That's cool. So it's about 50$ in the end.
But a question for everyone, since i stopped following AA. Is the patron status or any of the stuff they're offering "P2W"? Can we obtain them in-game? Are they hard to come by? Anything?

Kano, you gonna be playing AA ? just curious cause i am gonna be leaving TESO for it, wife got me the 150.00 founders for my b-day, i know you were not too leased with alot of the dev's choices with TESO.
If not what game will you go to next or are you gonna stick it out with TESO ?
Just curious cause you seem to think what i am thinking in most situations.

Hope that helps.

UPDATE:
Scapes (He's the community moderator) announced (4-23-14) that Gilda coins/Delphi coins are back in the TRION 1.0 version of ArcheAge. They will be a reward for intercontinental trading for beta, TRION AA 1.0, and beyond

UPDATE:

Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships
Waiting on: Ashes of Creation
Will they fix the cows so that they are not chess pieces and actually move, seem alive and actually be more than statues?
The emblem thing about being custom and put into in game stuff, would this include crafted items weapons/armor/clothing etc?
Have played on the Russian servers and sadly its not worth spending any cash on.. will wait until release.
What? Who told you this lie?
It's not F2P in Russia, It's not F2P in Korea, why would it be F2P with Trion?
Either way it's a Heavy-Korean-Grind -Waist of time - style of game.
I tried the Russian version to realise it.
That's all.
You are right when it comes to Landmark and why I asked and got a refund within 3 weeks.
Landmark is very very far from being anywhere near a complete game. It's going to take at least another year before it gets anywhere. /sigh
even worse for EU
As always the dollar -> euro conversion sucks. Right now its 186,86$ dollar for the archeum pack. Thats a double "No, thank you" for me.
That's cool. So it's about 50$ in the end.
But a question for everyone, since i stopped following AA. Is the patron status or any of the stuff they're offering "P2W"? Can we obtain them in-game? Are they hard to come by? Anything?
You are forgetting that EU prices include VAT while US prices do not.
€134 / 1.2 = €111 which converts to $153 using today's exchange rate.
Lolipops !
VAT can be as low as 7% and only some countires apply VAT to digital downloads.
