OP you're so lucky. If I had the money I'm sure it would be the best decision of my life too.
Unfortunately, I had to make my own Archeage. I figured I need standard questing, tab target combat, unbalanced pvp, housing, farming, boats, and gliders.
So I have Aion open on my left screen(gliding, unbalanced combat, housing, quests, etc) and Farmville open on my right screen.....just don't know about the boats....
Personally do not care if you love the game or hate it.
It is a game my friend, it is not life, and never should be.
If you could ever claim anything about a video game to be the best decision of your life, I truly feel for you.
My advice to you turn off your computer, walk out your door, go to the park, or a coffee shop, the beach, the grocery store, somewhere where there are people, real living breathing people.
Find a pretty girl, a girl so pretty even looking at her terrifies you. A girl so pretty your chest tightens, your palms sweat, your knees tremble.
Dig deep into every last bit of who you are, walk up to her and say hi, smile, tell her your name.
Tell her you think she is the most beautiful girl in the world and finding the courage to take a chance with her,
is the best decision of your life.
Even if she rejects you it's ok, for true living is in the journey.
Took this a little far didn't you? Let the person enjoy what they like holy f*ck.
So a game thats going to be F2P with a sub pay wall, that you can play for free RIGHT NOW if you played the EU game (or is it the RU) You are happy you spent 150 bucks? I dont get it.
Although AA looks interesting I generally reserve 'best decision of my life' for things like quitting a job and getting a new one, leaving that soul sucking B and getting a divorce or moving somewhere hot and tropical and ditching the rat race.
Let the guy enjoy the game. I'm sure hes being sarcastic that it is the best decision in his life but a good decision because he likes the game you miserable piece of s#its.

Why do some people have to be so "literal"?
I saw the title and immediately made the leap to "gaming life".
But some people just have to live within the realm of piss and vinegar. Let the guy be excited about buying a game and proclaiming its merits on a gaming site.
I suspect that if he said "I just bought a new house and it was the best decision of my life" some would say "cool story bro, this is a gaming site not "Better Homes and Gardens".

I will see your green text and up you to yellow.
If you want a to play a game and not pay anything do not play this game you will have no fun. You will get nothing, you will die every fight, when you go to jail and rot there because you paid no money, you will only get sticks to fight with no swords for you, if you get a boat it will have a leak and sink everyone knows free boats don't really float, your gliders wing will fall off when you are flying.
Now I'm gonna up it to RED TEXT.
I don't get why anyone thinks they should get squat in a game they pay nothing for, BTW the yellow txt is what a paywall is.

PLZ dont get F2P players disencouraged. Only limit that you got as a F2P is creation. U cant craft. U cant gether. All you can do is take it from someone who can. So F2P players are kind of forced to PvP. And PvP is where this game at its best.
I'm happy with the Alpha purchase. It's worth it if you are going to be playing at least 3 months. The head start is pretty essential due to the inevitable land grab that will happen.
Originally posted by Beastn I would never spend 150$ on one video game in one big lump sum andman alpha no less and then refer to it as the best decision of my life...but that's me
It always depends on what you consider to be worth it.People back in the day used to spend 70 bucks on a Nintendo cartridge lol.
One of the game breakers for me is i simply cannot stand to see anymore markers in games,it ruins any realistic immersion for me.They have markers over npc's and markers on the ground,i am fed up with that and won't play any game doing it.If they didn't have that then i probably would give the game a shot,i was following the game a long time ago.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Welll Im a huge fan of Darkfall and that's the game I currently play. Im looking forward to this.... and just bought the Founders Pack so Ill be check it out this weekend.

You can turn off arrows at your feet but far as I know you can not turn off the quest markers on the NPC's.
For all the people out there bashing AA, and say well its a F2P game. If you have actually taken the time to read through some of the FAQ for the game, you will know it isn't completely free. This one piece of information is a good indication that they are going to be looking more towards a sub/patron status, which is fine by me. I feel that this decision will keep the "I will just be a F2P player" and the " You will only be the same as a F2P player in the end" out of the game, and leave more land/resources for the rest of us that want to pay for it.
How is Trion Worlds planning on handling housing and farms? The open world housing in ArcheAge is a compelling sandbox feature that we’re very glad to have in the game. Because the housing is non-instanced, there needs to be a balance between available land and players who wish to place farms and houses. ArcheAge will be free-to-play and, as such, will have a variety of players who are in direct competition for land.
As a protective measure against infinite free placeholder accounts claiming precious land, ownership of limited real estate is reserved for paid players at launch. Free players are encouraged to participate in the crafting and farming aspects of this game, and will also be able to both use public land and share farms and houses from friends who give them access. Remember, not all the housing areas are marked on the map, so explore a bit to find the best places for your farm and house!
Paying a little early, and getting to play Alpha and get a feel for the game before others is a great experience. Not to mention on top of this you can test the game out and help fix bugs, add new suggestions, and start the community off. Most of the time its when the players that don't care join they screw up the community that was started.
PLZ dont get F2P players disencouraged. Only limit that you got as a F2P is creation. U cant craft. U cant gether. All you can do is take it from someone who can. So F2P players are kind of forced to PvP. And PvP is where this game at its best.
That is not true at all... Note the bold parts.

The only limitation initially is not being able to place a house.
** - Possibility there for free players getting access to housing at some point, probably via a one time cash shop purchase with certain limitations if I had to guess.
I'd really love to be able to convince myself that $150 alpha is in some way worth it, and I see some others have been able to twist the math into making it seem okay... but... man, I just can't.
At most, the 3 months of Patron status comes to what... $45 (at say an expensive sub of $15/month).
Maybe the 11,250 coins could be used for something useful, though I can't yet see what. If they allow Patron time to be purchased with the ingame coins maybe? Seems pretty uncertain. What then, vanity items?
Then the rest of it might amount to a month or so of playtime, let's say 2 months to be generous... that could be another $30.
So that's about $75 spent. Maybe a bit more if the coins are useful in some way. Where is the other value? Am I missing something? (other than the obvious MMO junky benefit of satisfying our inability to wait a month or so).
I am totally happy with my Archeum package. Since wow, I actually forgot how fun a great themepark could be. This has much more to offer of course. I look forward to it!
I think this game is awesome and I'm really excited for it but....it honestly kind of feels like a rip off to pay $150 for Alpha test of a game that is already being played for free in other countries.
Archeage is an awesome game but I think i'd rather wait instead of paying so much.

At least now, with some people buying the founder's packs, Trion might have enough cash to localise the NPC voice over's and cut scenes.
Since they have had plenty of time to get it done (over a year), cash must be what is holding them up.
A creative person is motivated by the desire to achieve, not the desire to beat others.

People i feel for, are the ones that must try to bring others down.
So what if people pay for a FTP, or are having fun.
Live and let live, more power to those that are having fun and enjoying themselves i say.
Enjoy the game. Enjoy life. Be Frigging happy for a change.
