I had similar problems with the FPS, and I was running it on a Core i7-4771 CPU, an EVGA NVidia GeForce 690 GTX (dual-GPU graphics card), 32 GB RAM, and a Samsung 840 PRO SSD on a ASUS Z87 Deluxe MOBO. I can run ESO at "Very High" on a 32" monitor with 2560 x 1600 resolution no problem, I can run Final Fantasy XIV at Maximum settings with no issue, I can crank up Diablo III: Reaper of Souls to its max setting and get fantastic frame rates, but I can't get that cartoony piece of shite known as Wildstar to keep a steady frame rate, especially if I enter a town and move toward a crafting station where the number of players usually increases.
I'm not happy that I feel this way about Wildstar at all. I really wanted to like this game, I've been following news about it for years and I was so excited when they were finally at a point where they could allow people to try it out in beta events. I felt that interviews with members of Carbine, so full of confidence and bravado and a distinct cocky swagger, were an indication that Wildstar was going to be an epic and entertaining experience. Boy was I wrong. No wonder they're taking it hard now. Now I think they just look like assholes.
I am biased against this game because to me it is everything that is wrong with MMOs, but having said that you should really be realistic about how optimized it would be at this point. I'm sure they are working to get the thing running well and are aiming for launch, but seems to me a lot of games don't hit that optimization stride til after launch.
They seem to be having some PR/Advertising struggles as well so it doesn't surprise me that they are twitchy about negative stuff on the forums.
MMORPG players are often like Hobbits: They don't like Adventures
I’d like to take the time to give a brief update on the state of our optimization efforts for Wildstar.
First, good news for those of you with SLI and Crossfire graphics cards. The code changes have been made to support these cards are done and are being tested internally. Those of you with these cards should see a significant improvement in frame rate.
We’re also optimizing our new UI. The new UI (UI 2.0) is much better looking than the previous version, but there are significant opportunities for performance improvements that we’re pursuing. In particular, the raid frame and nameplate add-ons are being improved. There were also major changes to chat log, target frame, and the health shield bar.
We continue to increase CPU performance by moving more and more code off onto separate threads. We’ve also been making improvements to PVP and Raid content - areas with lots of players casting spells.
We’re also looking at specific areas in the game which have degraded performance. Sometimes these are due to bad collision objects, bad geometry, excessive particles, or the occasional content bug. We’re eliminating these as fast as we can find and diagnose them.
Our optimization efforts will not stop with launch. There are a number of changes we’re planning on making which have the potential for major improvements but that can’t be done in the launch timeframe.
In the meantime, there are a number of graphics settings which can be used to coax better performance out of the game. We’re planning on adding the Render Target Scale back in to the graphics options, but until we do, you change the value by typing
This will suppress visual effects if there are too many cast spells on the screen. Setting it to 0 will supress nothing, 1.0 will suppress all spell casts but their own.
Keep in mind that these settings will persist on log out.
I have a 2 year old computer and I'm getting between 50-100 fps. Lowest I've seen is 44 fps and highest is 126 fps. Seems fine to me, so if people are having issues on more powerful machines I doubt it's a game issue it's probably something with your system.
A shame because I really liked the animations and responsive combat. But it looks like I may have to skip this title. Atrocious performance on a system well above the recommended requirements in a game with dated graphics is a no go.
I read nothing but have kept up with development and most people who actually care to look into all of that can clearly see the many times they have said optimization is the last step once every feature has been implemented, with the UI 2.0 and countless other fixes.
Those who have been following and testing the game can clearly see the performance's steady incline. other mmo's who optimize along the way before a finished product is complete are generally the games left with broken mechanics and a multitude of things not working as intended.
Wait for the finished product before you judge it.
Will it have game breaking quest bugs that halt your progression? not that I have seen after extensive testing. (IM looking at you ESO)
Does it have a dupe bug that the devs wont bother to fix until weeks after the game has launched? not that i have seen, though how i try to google those Youtube videos demonstrating it.
those 2 things alone make me glad wildstar will be releasing in 2 weeks and 5 days. Call be a fanboi all you want at least ill be playing a game i enjoy instead of bitching about how other games suck on a forum.
I almost feel the mmo community has become so disjointed that all of our own personal preferences will be the final undoing of the genre we all care about so much about.
Do you like lollipops? Suck it. Don't bite you greedy twit.

Well there is a developer post about it on red it and in the forums: https://forums.wildstar-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/42544-client-optimization/
I think I solved the fps problem. I'm running a cool 50+ fps atm with everything maxed everywhere.
So to fix the issue, I spent $2000 in parts and built a new computer. My old one was 4 years old and I spent $1500 on parts back then.
So ... problem solved. Before I was running 20+ FPS with some stutter, now im gliding on ice...
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

That's not quite what I wanted to hear .
This will "pixelate" the screen a little; 1.0 is full screen. I wouldn't recommend going above 1.0"
The dev should try to play with that setting for 5minutes. He would be busier wiping the blood off his eyes than actually playing the game.
That "solution" is even worse than Trion's "Performance tweak" that is lowering the pixel granularity by a slider.
9 years of development obviously wasn't enough time to get the engine to a proper working level before launch.
I'm losing trust in this company. I began to wonder when this close to launch all we got was a 120mb patch every two weeks.
Well it's working fine for most of people.
However yeah, there's quite a number of people who still have problems.
They are working on it... we'll see if they manage to fix it.. they seem to know what they're doing, just struggling to optimize it for EVERYONE.
..Cake..
I wasn't in an old beta. just got recently.
and needed to upgrade. 4 year old gaming pc was starting to feel aged.
The Enlightened take things Lightly
Not looking too good guys. Looks like performance might not be fixed until (if we're lucky) some time after launch:
