they made a nice game but if they made a world like they have and made it like skyrim the whole world and let you summon people like dark souls it would have been a money maker for 10 years.
elders scrolls must be felt alone like you are the hero and then you summon a helper or buddy to enjoy the experience.
theme parks don't work anymore.
wildstar did not think 5 years ahead when they made there game and ESO also.
only sandbox if you want lots of people playing together of it must me like darksouls single player and you summon people.
I am so glad warhammer is making a sand box and they said you cant create content fast enough it must be a world created and let players also contribute to let the world grow.
I prefer the more mature armor, I could barely stand TERA's skimpy clothing, it just hurts my brain the over sexualization of the characters. While I don't think GW2 had ridiculous animations it had some flashy stuff, it's impossible to feel immersed into the war when you have a thief shooting unicorns at your face. I think the armor is currently "bodypaint" so it doesn't overload the server and our clients with data in the middle of zerg fight in Cyrodiil.
ESo questing is the current "wine and cheese" of mmo questing.
I would say it's just a matter of setting.
Tera's art design works for me because they "make it work". It's over the top and it "owns" that art design decision.
Elder Scrolls Online's art design is more closely tied in with the art design of the single player games. Not exact but it takes similar conventions.
Elder Scrolls games were never about 20 foot swords or bikin armor. There are mods out there for those who like that.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I love the armor and weapon designs. They appear to look more, humble, and not that goofy Asian stuff you find in wow, and other Asian mmo's. I don't want 20 foot swords, or blunderbuss's or even crossbows.
Hahaha stop making me laugh. ESO being the wine and cheese of questing in MMOS. Most of the quests atleast up to 11 are the same thing. Ghosts needing help, its just a repeat of quests, and voices. SWTOR has alot better questing. You go from being a jedi to a sith, or a jedi to a bounty hunter, you feel totally different. The quests between the fractions in ESO, are totally the same and dont change at all. Just a bunch of retards who cant take care of their business, so they ask one of the millons of super gods, that the prophet picked.
Everquest 2 has alot better questing also. Never once in ESO did anything i couldent predict was gonna happen. Nothing like eq 2 where a orc grabbed me and took me into a prison out of no where and i had to escape. The quests in this are barely even quests. I havent played eq2 in years, and SWTOR in months, and i still remember quests that were great and stood out in them. In 6 months from now, I could redo the quests in ESO, because i wouldent even remember them they were so bland. Most people I see dont even listen to the quest, they just click through it.
Originally posted by jdlamson75 I've always liked the ridiculously gaudy armor and weapons. Give me huge shoulderpads with spikes and fire shooting out of em. Give me a sword that's as big as my character, all glowy and sparkling with lightning and crap. I like that - it's one of the things that sort of turned me off in ESO. Nothing really made anyone stand out. It's all a matter of taste, I suppose.
Theres nothing wrong with that. I actually like some of WoW's extreme armors and weapons (some).
But I personally glad ESO didnt go that route, and went with a more realistic look. As realistic as you can get in a fantasy setting.
But I do think that WoW's armors and weapons are made to appeal to a younger crowd.
In a fantasy world all that make sense. As soon as you take a fantasy world (yes, ESO is high fantasy that some people seem to forget about) and make everything in it be "realistic" you are killing the fantasy and you end up with a game that has no identity. It makes sense in ESO to have normal sized weapons and armors but notice all the racial desings which keep them within its own fantasy. Just as it makes sense in a game like WoW to have huge shoulder pads and axes because that design is part of them. You see ridiculous spiked stuff and you know thats a horde thing. So yeah, each game should have its own identity and that includes in a huge part the aesthetic of the game world.
I'll disagree with you about ESO being high fantasy, its more middle fantasy in my opinion. I think if it wasnt for the fact that people complained about it there wouldnt be teleporting in the game.
But even WoW started off with a stylized look that didnt include god-weapons or god-armors. That came later when its marketing was being pushed to the younger crowd. And its funny you dont see it to the extreme that you used to in that game. I cant remember eacact when but in an interview they said maybe they'd have to tone it back because a lot of the veterans (read that as older players) felt WoW was going in a direction they didnt feel was the WoW they played for 4+ years.
Fantasy can be realistic and still be fantasy. And fantasy can be over-the-top and still be fantasy. But there is a point, and everyones point is different, that when fantasy goes to far over-the-top it feels immature.
And when that happens you'll see its being directed towards a younger crowd. One that is more accepting of a 15' two-handed sword being wielded by a 3' tall rabbit eared stick girl, that does a double backflip then tucks into a ball and rolls to the target and then grinds away at them.
Or maybe turns into a living rolfacopter and spins around chopping enemies up. For me thats taking out of the realm of fantasy and into the realm of a 12-14 year old.

I'll have to disagree games like FFXI and Lineage 2 were very asian with big animations over the top weapons and were known for there helpful, older and more mature communities. FFXIV is a little this way to in game at least.
Im not saying if you dont play ESO or that if you play another game that has OTT (over-the-top) animations, weapons or armor that youre somehow immature. I was really just stating that ESO isnt geared towards attracting that kind of player.
And because of that, to me, it feels more immersive and mature.
"I understand that if I hear any more words come pouring out of your **** mouth, Ill have to eat every fucking chicken in this room."
No one complained because no one cares, the game has so much other baggage no one has even bothered to say "boy I wish there were larger weapons" or " why didn't they go with ridiculous animations?"
Speaking of animations though, it really looks like the running animation is very comparable to what someone would look like if there was a stick shoved deep into their butthole and is now trying to run.
Wow is that really the best you can contribute to the topic is "I think the game sucks" post?
Edit:
Or are you saying if in your opinion the game didnt suck, by what ever standard you set, then people would be asking for mega weapons and skimpy armour with huge firebreathing pauldrons?
"I understand that if I hear any more words come pouring out of your **** mouth, Ill have to eat every fucking chicken in this room."
I think that all types of armor design and art styles are valid. The only thing that breaks immersion is the lack of consistency.
As for the people above who try to find ways to diminish your fellow gamers, I feel bad for you. Not long ago, computer gaming was regarded a pariah experience and admitting to be a gamer some sort of self induced social ostracization. Now that gaming has found some measure of acceptance, we still trying to diminish our fellow gamers when they follow gaming norms we don't enjoy? Shame on you.
I quite like anime style, the problem is quite a few gamers only like anime style. They love the anime genre and want to see it everywhere. TESO has gone for a realistic approach more like AoC. In fact AoC has never been matched graphically before, TESO is the first MMO I would say reaches AoC levels of graphic excellence of avatars and landscapes. The new FF is a contender but not played it so can't comment.
When you consider that AoC launched in 2008 and it has taken six years for a game to match its graphics you have to ask, what does that tell you about the MMO genre?

I think his gab was at F2P players in MMOs.
Which I have to say, from what I encountered in SWToR, and regularly encounter in PlanetSide2 hes not totally off the mark.
