Actually I'm on the phone with a Customer Service Rep now. He says that His Supervisor actually told him that Because of the NA Game Servers being down, that Payments sent to Zenimax had to go through their EU Servers. Which is a BS answer. I told him that if I have to make a payment through my NA bank to PayPal then it should go to their Financial Institution over in Maryland. Then it should stay Stateside, Not give me an International email address PaypalEU@Zenimaxonline.com, Falsely giving my bank an Overseas Notice to charge me an International Fee. I've called them 3 times now to try and Escalate the call but I keep getting disconnected. One last thing, The Customer Service Rep informed me that it should only be $14.99 nothing more. I should not be getting any extra charges.

If this is correct then all the people saying he needed to go to the state and also giving him hell about it being only blah blah amount , owe Pyxx an apology.
Here I will do it for you, Pyxx thanks for your service and we are sorry some people are such douchebags and jump at the worst possible conclusions. "nough said.

Maybe its a tax law in your state? That would be who to blame here not Zenimax. They would just be following the laws of your state.

in turn if this is correct has nothing to do with the sales taxes
I know that the great state of Connecticut makes Amazon.com tax all our transactions now, but I have not noticed ever getting taxed for a game subscription. Tax is the devil!
1. If you have an issue with the charge, contact the company in question;
2. If the issue isn't resolved to your satisfaction, contact your credit card company and dispute the charge;
3. If the charge is legal, you can cancel your account and likely get a one time refund; if the charge is illegal, the credit card company will reverse the charge for you.
All of the above will resolve your issue, posting here will not.

No, but posting here will allow him the opportunity to express his opinion just kike the rest of us have done in this thread.
Your post was helpful until the last line, then it turned into a "shut up and go away" post.
Originally posted by kitarad I cannot recall because I never check but in Europe you pay VAT on the monthly subscription if I am not mistaken.n It is not Zenimax doing it they are just obeying the laws of the place you live in.
In some games they collect it but don't split it up so you're unaware they are collecting it.
We have 27% VAT over here so I would've noticed over the years. Also, in the EU, all VAT regulation is up to the member states. This means what is true in Ireland, may not be in Germany. I have to admit, I didn't know that some EU countries are taxing these but we only get taxed for the products here.

MMOs do not charge tax....your country/state/provance does....
If you got charged tax on your ESO sub, you sure as hell also get charged tax on your WoW sub, or any other sub for that matter. The Developer has 0 control as to what taxes are applied on your purchases, your country/state/provance does.

Hai ho.
Come to visit my country,go to the bank and try to steal 1.08 dollars from them, tell them that they should stop complaining because its only $1.08.
Make video if you can so we can watch it laters and talk about it.
You're saying Zenimax is stealing his money? Do you not know what taxes are?
@ OP Horusa is probably right it's probably Maryland, they tax everything here. If not, in those other cases maybe they simply cover it, some companies do do that to keep flat rates.
I'd still bet on the great state of MD to be collecting on whatever they can.

News Flash everyone do that even blizzard do it so it is not a new thing but it is normal call VAT in rest of world and honest you whine $2 in taxes in Sweden we have 25% VAT on everything so what is your big deal.
You pay VAT on everything and it is normal blizzard have NC SOFT have to but normal you dont see for put in to prize.
Also it can be you bank or the company that you use to pay Zenimax your subscription through that charge you this taxes so i would just blame Zenimax for example my bank charge me a extra fee if i need to pay in other currency then SEK.
Two things you will never avoid are death and taxes. I always get taxed on my subscriptions aside from almost everything else. NY state is currently pushing for a $0.10 bag tax (paper and plastic) in the hopes we become more environmentally conscious which as important as it is translates into more $tate profit at the end of the year.
As for your sacrifice for serving our country Thank You Very Much. My grandfather who served in WW2 always said he believed veterans should be tax exempt but that philosophy cost him his home when he refused to pay the $tate their due. Best wishes to you and all who serve & will serve.
Purchased ESO because my friends got it for me on discount.
Tried to enter Serial Key couldn't at first until yesterday because it kept asking for payment information.
They are still asking me to pay for a month in advanced before I get 30 days free with the paid game.
And to answer no I have never been charged Tax with any MMO subscription except World OF Warcraft, however if they do not (Specify) that there are Tax on the check-out then you have every right to complain to your bank and get your money back for an non authorized payment amount as it says $14.95 if I am not mistaking per month.
The payment amount when I try to setup subscription says $14.95 doesn't say there are Taxes.
The amount of knowledge on this amazes me. In the history of game playing and MMOs, I have never seen the posts that I have with ESO. Have you people ever played an MMO with a sub?
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....."
I do think there is a tax law mistake being made on the part of zenimax.
It is kind of a tricky issue.
A monthly sub is not considered goods.
Most states that do tax online monthly subscriptions, already have taxed for online access which in the provision specifies that internet access tax covers all goods and or services of and by said digital media.
Frankly the way I read the provisions it is not the pervue of any online retailer to ever tax you, it is the responsibility of the online consumer to determine what taxes he holds a liability to pay.

Thanks Z; I'm glad someone has some decent common respect. and yes this is the problem and still is a big issue that they haven't fixed yet. They now want me to set up a new account telling me to be on a NA server; They really have some morons over their working for them because I'm already on a NA server. Which is clearly seen on their computers as per 2 Customer Service Reps.
The Problem that occurred was when PayPal was prompted to charge my account they used an EU email which in turn prompted my bank account to charge an International Charge. And then When I disputed the overcharge PayPal sent notice to Zenimax NA email and not the EU one; which is another Problem cause now I have to deal with trying to sort out their own mistake telling them that their payment methods through their PayPal is set up wrong. and I should have been only charged $14.99 and the only thing that they need to do is a Partial Refund of $1.08 and make sure that the following month is that it charges me with a NA email address instead of their EU one to prevent another Overcharge.

waiting for DESTINY,the repopulation and EQN.

We already fought one war over taxation without representation.
Maybe it is time to fight another.
We could toss cases of video games into Boston Harbour to get it started.
