You can't honestly expect them to keep a game free forever. Those people who put hours and hours of work into making the game, plus those paying for server costs, etc need to be payed back some how.
so why not make it divided into free and premium account options, that way they gain the best of both worlds?
there are some good games out there that do that already, and it seems to work judging by the fact that they havent closed down yet.
Take Tibia for example, absolute crap game [sorry to those who like it] but the developers and everyone are makin heaps of money. the amount of players that have been attracted to tibia is phenomenol!!
the game started out with only 2 servers... have a glance now theres roughly 50 last time i checked
Yikes, I just downloaded it and gave it a try, but I couldn't escape the feeling that I was playing Kal Online. The sheer number of player shops was visual spam to the Nth degree. The game engine itself seemed alright for free beta, but I definitely wouldn't pay for it. The art style was interesting- very Japanese console RPGish. Really, it was the player shops that completely killed it for me, though. You couldn't go anywhere without those bloody signs and booths clogging the screen. It was extremely off-putting.
I concur, Jenuviel. Way too many player shops... and if you had a chance to get to around 20-ish and go to the popular levelling spot, the aqua warriors, you would have been put off even more; it's first come first serve, and KSing is considered the standard.
i have played rose for some months now and no offense to anyone but i dont think you should make your decision whether the game is good or not if you had played it only for a short while. And if it gets P2P, i sure would pay for it, I like it. But this is my opinion, if other players dont like it i dont blame him, its a matter of taste. (no offense)
Cheers

I will definately agree with Jenuviel's post about the spamming wall o' shops that have a bad habit of clogging the screen make it near impossible to see where you are going. If they could implement some area where its all nothing but shops or require certain areas designated(in towns but off to one side) for shops only it would help.
About the P2P, I would probably pay to play this one but only if the price is a low figure. This game right now, although fun, would not be worth the standard fee of $15.00 a month in my opinion. I rather enjoyed this game and can see where it could be addctive to a point and am hoping they can implement fixes to control the flow of the game--namely the shop spamming and some of the missions(Whoopie/Woopie King..anyone?) and make at least a few more servers, course I know its only Beta. But all in all I would pay to play--whenever they finally get it finished and as long as its a relatively low monthly payment.

retards. it was free for beta and its not just to play beta means your supossed to find bugs. anyone that thinks it should be free should go learn something because whoever thinks that is really stupid.
I agree with SirVampire, I'm sure just about everyone playing this game knows its in the beta stages and others who might not be totally aware can read the website and see for themselves. Your post was not very constructive and offered no new information or a valid opinion about the original posters question about---ROSE...if you have to pay..are u going to play? I would assume the oringal posters question was or could be taken to mean...we all know its beta but from what you have played and seen in the game so far...is it a possibility that you would pay to play this game upon its release. Of course thats just my opinion but its what I would assume from the tag line of this thread.
Of course he/she did mention that Korea is going to charge or has already begun to charge to play this game so we all assume that it will also be the case for everyone once this game is finished since it does cost money and staff to run an online game.
In closing...most of us know its still in beta and we realize the problems its has and the good stuff it has all in the same collection--we were simply commenting and elaborating on the game as it is now and rather we would continue to play it once it requires a monthly fee. Please do not post rude comments about others or assume people aren't just "in the know" because in the end you'll just be sitting there asking for salt to go on that foot in your mouth and the rest of us will still be posting, defending our opinions and talking about the new, the old, the recently added information in the gaming community and having a good time minus the appendage dinner and trivial hateful comments.

R.O.S.E online is my favorite mmorpg i have ever played so i hope it won't go pay 2 play but i know it will. but i probally won't play it if i have to pay for it.
It's highly doubtful R.O.S.E. will become P2P for another 6-12 months. Considering the current low selection of maps and the amount of bugs in it; Gravity will be very reluctant to release such an incomplete game. You have to remember the R.O.S.E. version in Korea is almost a year ahead of its international counterpart. As well Gravity isnt the company to release games too early. Ragnarok Online was in testing for 2 years before they released it, and when they did there were 10 towns and over 50 maps. They will probably wait with this game as well. In its current state, the game won't hold player appeal for 2 weeks. Considering Gravity loves giving 2 week trial accounts it would be doubtful they would release a game the player would be bored of before that time.
Thanks Cleffy, I was curious to know the "head start" of the game in Korea, I had no idea they were almost a year ahead in production. I really don't mind if they take a while to release it as they flesh out problems and such and make it more in-depth with missions and or storylines, I just hope the price doesn't reach the standards of most online games, of course in my opinion, if they do gloss it up and add huge amounts of content and can actually keep the interest level beyond the 2 week time frame then it would probably warrant paying a monthly fee. I guess it just depends on what you like to play and what can hold your interest, because if you love the game you're playing then you don't mind the fee.

I downloaded this game just today to try it out. But I can't figure out how to create an account. I went on the ROSE website and to the place where you are supposed to register but the button you need to hit in order to register wasnt working for some reason. Or maybe I wasn't doing something right. Can somebody help, I'd really like to try out this game.
go to support center > account management, after that click on register on the left under account management, then click on register, then agree to privacy policy and user agreement, then choose an id with the requirements shown on screen, when you have, click on check id right of id itselves, when its a good id click confirm, then continue making the account, when thats done press register. It should work just fine. Please let me know if you have succeeded making your account.

Maybe i'm doing something wrong, but it still isn't working. Here is exactly what i did: originally, i clicked on regist. at the very top of the screen (where you would log in if you had an account) that took me to a place where it listed the four different steps in registering and there was a register button right below it that button took me to the user agreement/policy thing. I checked the circle for agree and hit the register request button--that it the button that doesn't work, no matter how i try to do it. then, after reading your post, i went and clicked on account management first a screen appeared with a picture of a guy with a long yellow beard and there were two buttons, one said registration, and the other said recieve ID/Pw. i clicked on the button that said registration and it took me to the privacy policy and user agreement page. the button at the bottom of the page for request registration still didn't work! even after i highlighted agree.
i missed a part also, actually, i also tried what you said and hit register under account management. i just took me to the screen with the four different steps and the register button which then took me to the screen with the user agreement and privacy policy which then didn't let me progress- didn't work again.
If you want i want to make account for you, dont be afraid, i wont hack you, so if you want me to make you an account plz give me your msn adress, so you can tell me the preferred id and password.
PotCO player Ex-WoW player, hackers screwed it up and blizzard is too lazy to give a shit
given the fact that i should always be able to change the password again, sure, thanks for offering. It would be great if you could create one with the screen name as Eneco, the password as- well whatever just as long as you tell me what it is- and if it needs my email, then it's
Hey, actually, if you haven't gotten around to making the account yet, I don't need you to make it for me anymore because the button is now working on the site. I did all the same processes as before, but I guess they fixed it or something. Thanks for the help though.
