I will not purchase this game. It is pretty much the most boring MMO I have ever played. The graphics are terrible (to me I get what they were going for, they just do not appeal to me) and the game play is boring rinse and repeat junk we have seen for years now.
Too slow, too old (already) and nothing really awe inspiring, did I mention boring? They should change the name to; MildStar and market it as a sleep aid.
anyway, imo.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
when i played the beta all i felt was this is WoW... i know its the same old excuse... but its the same generic crap that gets rolled out time and time again (OMHO)... quest hubs everywhere... cartoony graphics... its 2004 all over again... developers need to stop been scared of change and innovate and change the formula up... so no purchase for me
i played in closed and open beta, there is some innovation, the game is solid and well made, its basically a wow 1.5 and i can see it working good pretty much.
Will i buy it ? NO absolutely not, as good as the game can be i had enough of this genre whatever innovation it can bring the core is still the same and i overplayed it already.
I probably would have fun during some weeks months but would end up being bored i know it well. I instead gonna get the stomping land and the forest. Not mmo i know but more originality
I've been somewhat interested in it for a long time but it only took about 3 hours in closed beta to bore me, so no I won't be buying it at launch especially with the requirement of a monthly sub. When it eventually goes B2P or F2P and is available at discounted prices, then I might check it out if I am not busy playing something else.
I bought it . It looks like a cute game the humour and I like the graphics the style is very out there. Like they took every other race and decided hey am going to make a parody of it ,well not all the humans do look distinctly so. They just ooze fun even the way they walk ,the dialogue is funny I actually laughed when I listened to it.
I am hoping the dungeons are something I can handle. They look very hard and this is something that is missing these days and I get to play a healer and heal and jump about dodging stuff.
Originally posted by polikok i wont buy it cos i would never buy a game with monthly sub but if the game would be F2P i would play it like the graphics and cartoon theme, there is no other game that look like that not mmo
Except of course EQ Landmark, World of Warcraft...

1 I'm not a raider -- not sure how fun other "elder game" activities will be outside of raiding
2 I've got ArcheAge and ESO (which I'm enjoying -- mostly -- in spite of serious problems i have with the game) right now, so I can wait and see how things go with WS
3 I feel kind of wary now (because of the problems I have with ESO)
But I did play in the open beta and had some fun. I don't hate the artstyle and I can accept it for what it is. If it's fun for non-raiders, I may pick it up down the road.
I bought the Preorder , sort of regretting it a little after playing in all the beta weekends / open beta etc. I will give it another shot at launch , though I'm feeling like I need to force myself to like it , which isn't good really.
I am so fed up with people saying that x game is too much more of the same or y game is a WoW clone. Are you people serious? Give it a REST! I've seen a "WoW Clone" and the only thing that makes a game a clone is when it has all the same crap like literally you look at the interface and character panel and everythings laid out exactly the same with the exact same mechanics. Beyond that, it's just generally accepted game development practices of the genre... Like, I don't even know what the first FPS was but... think about it... at the core of every FPS, EVERY FPS (bar a couple... maybe?) has the same exact CORE GAMEPLAY. This is not something new folks. Every RTS has the same CORE GAMEPLAY.
Not really fan boying either, yes Wildstar looks cool and yes I'm buying it. But I long for a true viirtual world just as much as the next guy. Seriously though... get a grip people.
Yeah, I'm getting it. For the housing. Elder scrolls didn't have it, Everquest Landmark is great but it has a long way to go before it has enough flesh on its bones, and ArcheAge is going to be a griefer's paradise. So Wildstar it is. Bonus that it's a sci-fi setting.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
Edit - Please leave a response why or why not. I am mainly doing this to see what people find good or bad about the game. What keeps you away or coming back for more?
I haven't seen anything like this lately so I thought I would make one a little bit before the release.
Are you going to purchase Wildstar and what is your reason for what you decided? I just want a general view of what people find as this games main strengths and weaknesses.
I'll start. I will be purchasing it.
Strength - The difficulty is refreshing.
Weakness - Leveling "Could" get linear if you make too many alts at once.
I voted no. I played the close beta and the graphics hurt my eyes, and head. I was able to play for a hour or so, and it would start to physical hurt. I also don't like the graphics. The game play and animations were good, although the telegraph things were what gave me a head ache, I think. Also I don't like that there is no meaning full economy. It just seems to be the same as every other Mmo out there, with different graphics.
Originally posted by Doushi I will not buy it, and the reason is, I have already seen lots of game like this, and bought em, so I had my share already.
Do you like FPS's? If you do I'm sure you have played a lot of them, what about RTS's? Either way, I'm sure if you think about it you will realize how much of the same these are as you play new ones.
So if you like FPS's, and say you have played a bunch, I guess you are done with FPS's then? Is Halo just Call of Duty in space? I mean where is the line drawn here? Why does the MMORPG genre get all this hate?

Are you implying all FPS's are the same? that wouldn't be as laughable as saying all RTS's are but it's going pretty far. Wildstar embraced that sameness others have to different degrees, tried to avoid or cover up with presentation. Wildstar throws it right in your face with OS quest presentation (TXT), raid centric design, gated content, etc.etc..etc.. IMO it's really taking the themepark backwards in most categories. The one redeeming quality I can see is possibly housing but as far as I understand it's not open world housing, which renders it behind what I'd view as good housing systems.
ALL IMO of course. What's there might be a great game for someone looking for all of that, but that person certainly isn't me.

Actually certain color and light combinations can have this effect on people. It's not uncommon at all.

Myself and my wife have pre-ordered.
Pros:
A lot of little things that make this a complete and polished game even at launch
- The Devs actually listen and make changes
- Very well done/diverse housing with useful additions for both PvP and PvE players
- Roads make you walk, run, hover faster
- Multiple ways to level (too many people focus on the quest hub, yes it exists, no you don't have to do only that.)
Cons:
- The core game and systems aren't anything drastically new (it takes the old and improves)
- The game was built from the top down which long term is amazing but will lose them some players as some will leave prior to cap
